Pep is a common enemy in the Energy Hold in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. They can fuse themselves into other enemies to upgrade their abilities. Peps make their home in the Energy Hold.
Variants[]
Peps come in three types: power (POW), Speed (SPEED), and defense (DEF). Their colour matches the appropriate stat: POW Peps are red, SPEED Peps are blue, and DEF Peps are green.
POW Peps have muscular arms coming from their sides, and they try to attack by punching Mario and Luigi, and either brother can counter the attack using their hammer. They upgrade an enemy's power.
SPEED Peps have shark fins coming from the top of their body and the bottom, and they attack by trying to dash into Mario and Luigi, and and either brother can counter the attack with a jump provided the Peps do not attack from a mid-air area (If that does happen, the Pep must be ducked, which can be done by idling.). They can attack from the centre by charging at one Bro. and launching a copy as a projectile at the other. They upgrade an enemy's speed.
DEF Peps hold a shield by their side, and they don't attack in any way. They upgrade an enemy's defense.
Stats[]
Peps are a Level 16 enemy with 105 hit points. Their Attack Power, Defense, and Speed stats are 46 (53 for the POW Pep), 48 (68 for the DEF Pep), and 51 (71 for the SPEED Pep), respectively. Defeating one gives 120 Experience and 40 Coins, with 1 in 20 kills netting a Syrup Jar. If the Pep is a DEF Pep, it has a 1 in 5 chance of dropping a DEF Mush Jam; otherwise, it drops the No-touch Socks with a 3 in 10 chance. A Pep subjected to status effects has unaffected chances of getting hit.
