Jailgoons are an enemy appearing in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. They are living cage enemies that contain either a Goomba or a Bob-omb. Jailgoons are encountered in Bowser's Castle.
Description[]
Jailgoons are greyish-white walking cages with a cannon on one arm and a shield in the opposite arm's hand. They have legs with aqua-colored feet, bars forming a cage on the front, an opaque backside, and a red siren.
Combat[]
Jailgoons attack by shooting cannonballs from their cannons; this must be countered by batting the cannonballs away via Hammer strikes. Another attack has the Jailgoon charge with the shield raised; this must also be blocked with the hammer; failure to push the Jailgoons back causes them to whack the target with the cannon arm.
If their prisoner is a Bob-omb, Jailgoons can be destroyed instantly with fire. Otherwise, they take half damage and are immune to the Burn status effect. They have normal chances for other status effects and the Sudden Death effect.
Jailgoons are of Level 27 and have 183 hit points, an Attack Power of 215, a Defense of 93, and a Speed of 44. When slain, they give 340 Experience and 55 Coins, with a 5% chance to drop a TNT Drumstick.

Nomenclature[]
In Japanese, Jailgoons are called "Jeirun" (from "jail;" written ジェイルン). In Germain, they are called "Gitterritter" (a masculine name from Gitter ("grid," "lattice," "mesh," "bars" and Ritter ("knight")). Spanish gives their name as Jaulito, which comes from jáula ("cage") and is masculine. Italian translates their name as Signore Cellotto (literally "Sir Cellot," with Cellotto derived from Sir Lancelot's Italian name (Lancillotto) and cella ("cage")). French names them "Cellubot," from cellule ("jail") and the word "robot" (either English or French).
