— Ira, to Siglud
|
Ira (アイラ) was a princess of Isaac, a descendant of the crusader Odo, the daughter of King Mananan and the younger half-sister of Crown Prince Mariccle. At the height of Isaac's war with Grandbell, Ira was tasked by Mariccle to flee Isaac with his young son Shanan, to ensure his survival and the future of the Isaac royal family. Their travels eventually took them to Verdane, where Ira was eventually left with no choice but to work as a mercenary for Prince Kinbois, who imprisoned Shanan as leverage to ensure Ira's full cooperation. With the death of Kinbois and the rescue of Shanan by Siglud's forces, Ira allies with Siglud - if with reservations given the war between their countries - and spends the next few years serving in his forces until the Battle of Barhara, in which she disappeared.
Role
When Kinbois departed Castle Genoa to attempt to retake Castle Evans to the north, he placed Ira in charge of Genoa's defence, with only a small defence force serving under her. Determined to ensure Shanan's safety from both Kinbois and the impending army led by Siglud - her enemy, being of Grandbell - Ira actively and relentlessly engaged Siglud's forces in combat. Siglud got around her and seized Genoa, then freed Shanan from his imprisonment and, with his freedom, convinced Ira to stand down and ally with his army. Ira agreed, for Shanan's benefit, but reminded Siglud that her country was still at war with Grandbell, that as such he was still technically her enemy, and that should the need one day arise she would not hesitate to treat him as such.
During the war, if she married, Ira gave birth to twin children: Lakche and Skasaher. Following the defeat of Langobalt and Siglud's capture of Castle Lubeck, the two are sent away along with the infant Celice to the outskirts of Isaac, under the protection of Shanan and Oifey; though Siglud wanted her to go with them, she stays with his forces, telling him that she intends to finish the war and that Shanan can now look after himself.[1]
Ira was present at the Battle of Barhara, in which Siglud's army was executed by the mages of Velthomer, but her ultimate fate in its aftermath - whereas other female members of Siglud's army survived it, if temporarily - remains unknown, both in-universe and otherwise. Lakche, for her part, firmly believed that Ira was still alive seventeen years later, and fiercely rebuked Skasaher for suggesting otherwise.[2]

- ↑ "Siglud: Ira!? I thought I told you to go back to Isaac with Shanan.
Ira: Thanks, but it wouldn't be right if I left now. I'm finishing this war with you.
Siglud: Huh? You were entrusted with Shanan's protection, but he's in Isaac and you're here!
Ira: Ah, you're talking about the promise to my late brother. My job is finished with Shanan. He's old enough to look after himself now.
Siglud: Yeah, but...
Ira: I will return to Isaac as soon as this war is finished. And when that day comes, Sir, you too will be able to return to your homeland." — Siglud and Ira, Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu
- ↑ "Lakche: Ira... Yeah, I have no memories of her whatsoever. How about you, Skasaher?
Skasaher: Of course I don't remember anything! You forget we're twins or something? We weren't even two years old yet at the time. We fled to Isaac with Oifey. But she never showed up. Maybe she didn't survive the Battle of Barhara after all...
Lakche: Skasaher! You promised you'd never say that! She is alive!! Don't you ever let me catch you saying that again!" — Lakche and Skasaher, Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu
