Shinryu and Zenos

"The Worm's Tail" (龍の尾 〜神龍討滅戦〜, Ryū no O ~Shinryū Tōmetsusen~?, lit. Dragon's Tail ~God Dragon Showdown~) is a final boss theme of Shinryu in Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. It was composed by Masayoshi Soken and arranged by Yoshitaka Suzuki.

It includes the theme of "Storm of Blood".

When Suzuki was making the track, he thought it was for the first phase of the battle with Shinryu.[1]

Lyrics[]

Like "Ultima" and "Heroes", with the exception of the last part, it uses nonsensical lyrics in-game, but was given actual lyrics for the Final Fantasy XIV Orchestra Concert 2019 -Eorzean Symphony-, written by Michael-Christopher Koji Fox. The lyrics were released on the Eorzean Symphony: Final Fantasy XIV Orchestral Album Vol.2.

Eorzean Symphony version[]

The official lyrics do not include the italicized lyrics, which are from a previous stanza.

English/Latin
Come don the mask of blind betrayal
E'er does the head devour its tail
As iron bends to steel
O'er my rivals I prevail
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego primus (I am the Beginning)
et novissimus (And the End)
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego finis (I am the Last)
et principium (And the First)
Duty lost in liberty
Found lost in loyalty lost
Found in liberty
Found most disloyal
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego primus (I am the Beginning)
et novissimus (And the End)
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego finis (I am the Last)
et principium (And the First)
Storm of blood
Born from blood
Of our fallen brothers
Borne upon our hands
Cradled in our arms
Swelling in our hearts
Raise your weary head
Heed the call to arms
Ringing in your heart
Come don the mask of blind betrayal
E'er does the head devour its tail
As iron bends to steel
O'er my rivals I prevail
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego primus (I am the Beginning)
et novissimus (And the End)
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego finis (I am the Last)
et principium (And the First)
Duty lost in liberty
Found lost in loyalty lost
Found in liberty
Found most disloyal
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego primus (I am the Beginning)
et novissimus (And the End)
Ecce venio (Behold, I am come)
Ego finis (I am the Last)
et principium (And the First)
Storm of blood
Sworn in blood
Forged in fire and thunder
'Neath burnt skies
Kindred lives
Brave the surge together
Storm of blood
Born from blood
Of our fallen brothers
Borne upon our hands
Cradled in our arms
Swelling in our hearts
Raise your weary head
Heed the call to arms
Ringing in your heart
Turn your eyes ahead
Cast aside the dark
Ever trust your heart
