Baffled by what appear to be the Monastery of Spinjitzu, Cole and his friends enter the structure to investigate. Zane quickly deduces that this is a different monastery, though very similar to theirs, including a crack in wall identical to one Cole and Jay made during a long ago fight. The memory makes Cole wonder where the Lightning Ninja has ended up. The three are then greeted by Gandalaria, High Sorceress of Mysterium.
At the Dragon Masters' home, Arin is practicing his Spinjitzu after his demotion to the First Fang class and is not encouraged when Sora tries to comfort him about his ongoing struggles. Nearby, Egalt is similarly in a bad mood, and to his annoyance is approached by Wyldfyre. However, he perks up when Wyldfyre makes reference to legends supposedly told about him and Rontu in the Wyldness. Wyldfyre then broaches the subject of "the wasting sickness", an ailment she has come to suspect that Egalt is suffering from.
Back in Mysterium, Gandalaria begins making some strange remarks to Cole's party, and it soon comes out that she's mistaken them for traveling merchants. Upon giving them a closer look, however, she soon recognizes Bonzle for her spell, and is overjoyed at the realization. Elsewhere, Lloyd discusses his visions with Rontu, and his desire to have them stopped. Rontu warns him that this may not be possible, and he would be better off learning to live with them.
As if on cue, Lloyd experiences yet another vision, in which he sees Lord Ras and the Wolf Clan, Cole's party, the Forbidden Five, and the Blood Moon. Upon his report of what he's seen, Rontu becomes determined to teach the Ninja the Rising Dragon technique. Meanwhile, Cole's group explains their dilemma to Gandalaria and ask her if she knows a means by which Bonzle can be kept safe from Ras and his followers. Gandalaria explains that many of her materials are in a storehouse in the Wyldness; fortunately, the group can use Jiro to travel there.
The group is interrupted by a knock at the Gandalaria's monastery, only to find an unpleasant sight: a force of agents from the Administration with several mechs. They have come in search of Zane, regarding him as a mere piece of equipment. After Kai struggles in continued training, Nya proposes that she and Kai run an exercise together. She then reminds him of an old childhood game of theirs, Counter Shot, and the two run the exercise as though they were playing it.
Nya's instincts prove correct, and Kai is able to perform the Rising Dragon technique at last. Unfortunately, just after he does so, the Blood Moon begins to rise. As it is witnessed by various parties, Lloyd pleads with Rontu and Egalt to teach the rest of them. However, the Blood Moon also signals the doom of the Dragon Masters, who wish the Ninja well before turning to lifeless stone.
Zane and Cole attempt to reason with the Administration agents, but they are entirely unreasonable and intent on eliminating Zane and his friends. Fortunately, Zane is able to turn their bureaucracy against them to buy some time, but eventually they burst in to attack. Gandalaria sends Bonzle into the tunnels beneath her monastery while she, Cole, and Zane deal with the Administration agents and their mechs. However, when Bonzle reaches the tunnels, she is confronted by an Administration agent who introduces himself...as Jay Walker.
