Seamus Brady was an antagonist in the British soap opera Hollyoaks from December 2012 to March 2013.

He is Cheryl and Brendan Brady's father who sexually assaulted Brendan as a child and later as an adult.

He was portrayed by Fintan McKeown, who also portrayed Amory Lorch in the TV adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Personality[]

Seamus is a callous and abusive man, who believes men should not be weak. He used this as a justification for his abuse.

Physical appearance[]

Seamus had medium length dark hair, as well as some light facial hair. He was caucasian, and often wore formal clothing.

Biography[]

Background[]

Seamus became a father to Brendan and Cherly, and lived in Ireland. He was the son of Florence Brady. At one point in Brenan's youth, Seamus caught Brendan stealing his whiskey. Instead of beating Brendan, Seamus instead mocked him and called him "Brenda". It is unknown if this is when the abuse began, but it is known that Seamus frequently abused Brendan, unbeknownst to his sister, Cheryl.

Hollyoaks[]

Seamus arrives at Brendan's flat after Brendan tells his lover, Ste, about his childhood. Cheryl is delighted to see her father return, but Brendan is agog and says nothing. When Brendan confronts Seamus, Seamus calls him "Brenda", which causes Brendan to lose control and become aggressive.

Seamus quizzes Ste on Brendan's sexuality, not knowing that Brendan is gay. This causes Brendan to lie that he is interested in Frankie Osborne (an older woman). When Ste leaves, he insults Ste behind is back, which further infuriates Brendan.

Seamus decides to stay in the village. In March, Cheryl learns that Seamus sexually abused Brendan. She then sees Seamus attack Brendan, and shoots Seamus, killing him. Brendan takes the blame for this to protect his sister and is arrested.
