You stand before the Shake King! Tremble! Tremble!
~ The Shake King

The Shake King is the main antagonist and final boss of Wario Land: Shake it!. He is a power-hungry and materialistic pirate who, along with his gang, conquers the Shake Dimension, kidnapping Queen Merelda and imprisoning the Merfles in the process. He looks to obtain an incredibly large amount of wealth and power by gaining the Bottomless Coin Sack.

He was voiced by Tsuguo Mogami who has also voiced Mr. Compress in My Hero Academia and Musashi Miyamoto in Record of Ragnarok.

Description[]

Appearance[]

He is described as one of the more robust, pirate-like figures, with a tremendously large, muscular physique. He has a very long, flowy beard and wears a helmet topped with large horns.

Personality[]

He is shown to be a tyrant and merciless ruler of the Shake Dimension. His mean streak is proved clear through the kidnapping of Queen Merelda and imprisonment of Merfles. His most principal goal is to keep the Bottomless Coin Sack in his power, showing just how greedy and power-hungry he truly is. It is also shown that he will trick and fool other people, as demonstrated when he tricked Merfles and turned treasure into monsters.

Biography[]

The tyrannical pirate captain has established his rule over the Shake Dimension by imprisoning Queen Merelda and the Merfles, the innocent residents of the land. His main goal is to possess the ultimate treasure, the Bottomless Coin Stack, a magical bag that never runs out of currency. This treasure is not only a source of wealth but also a symbol of power that the pirate captain desires to control. His oppressive rule has brought fear and suffering to the inhabitants of the Shake Dimension, who long for freedom from his tyranny.

Despite the pirate captain's stronghold over the Shake Dimension, a brave Merfle manages to escape and seek help from Wario agrees to assist the Merfle in overthrowing the Shake King's rule. However, Wario's motivations are not purely altruistic, as he also seeks to claim the Bottomless Coin Stack for himself. This sets the stage for an epic quest filled with challenges and dangers as Wario embarks on a mission to confront the Shake King and liberate the Shake Dimension.

In order to confront the Shake King and gain access to his ship, Wario must first collect the five boss emblems scattered throughout the Shake Dimension. These emblems serve as keys to unlocking the path to the pirate captain's lair, where a final showdown awaits. After a fierce battle, Wario emerges victorious, defeating the Shake King and bringing an end to his oppressive reign. The defeat of the tyrannical pirate captain marks a new era of freedom and prosperity for the residents of the Shake Dimension, who can now rebuild their land without fear of his tyranny.

Other Media[]

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

The Shake King appears as a primary grab type spirit, whose ability increases the damage and launch distance for all grab throws. His spirit battle is against King K. Rool on the Pirate Ship who favors grabbing and throwing the player, and earthquakes periodically shake the stage.

Power and Abilities[]

  • Fire and Lightning Manipulation: Shake King can control the powers of fire and lightning and use them to attack in several different ways.
  • Flight: He is able to fly, too, which enhances his fighting potential further.
  • Superhuman Physical Traits: His strength, speed, and durability are above the human norm. Shockwaves and Earthquakes: He can cause mighty shockwaves and earthquakes by ground pounding.
  • Forcefield Creation: Shake King can make forcefields of many different strengths, and the strongest ones are known to withstand multi-city block-level attacks.
  • Dimensional Creation: He is capable of making dimensions; for example, his dimension floating in the sky, which is constructed from clouds.
  • Notable Techniques:
    • Lightning Rain: Orb-like chunks of lightning summon and then transform into pillars which crash onto the opponent.
    • Lightning Laser: The user fires a rather large laser composed of lightning that is encompassed by orbiting orbs.
    • Bull Charge: Linear movement toward enemies with temporary indestructible armor.
    • Fire Rain: Slams ground to shower the enemies with fireballs. Suicide Attack: He explodes into a gigantic electrical explosion on defeat.

Trivia[]

  • The Shake King bears a slight resemblance to Booster from Super Mario RPG.
  • It is interesting to note that he has the same tint of blue around the outside of his eyes like Wario. By the same token, his artwork shows him with orange eyes, but in-game, his eyes are yellow.
  • The Shake King seems to have a romantic interest in Queen Merelda, but Merelda is not interested in the Shake King. This is similar to the scenarios involving Bowser and Princess Peach in the main Mario series installments.
  • The Shake King can use his own variation of each of Wario's standard moves. His versions are all slightly slower, but they have more power.
  • In the second part of the fight, the background shows what seems to be an incomplete replica of the Shake King and three Bandineros. This has led some people to believe that the Shake King and the Bandinero group are robots. This is further supported by the explosion that occurred after the Shake King's defeat.
  • His general body structure resembles Wario's; despite his legs being a little longer.
