Hi. This is Thesecret1070. I am an admin of this site. Edit as much as you wish, but one little thing... If you are going to edit a lot, then make yourself a user and login. Other than that, enjoy Villains Wiki!!!
The Mawkin Tribe are major antagonists from the Metroid franchise. They are a rogue tribe of the Chozo race led by Raven Beak in his quest to conquer the galaxy. However, they were all eventually infected by the X-Parasites and destroyed by Samus Aran, who received Mawkin DNA from Raven Beak himself.
In the distant past, a mysterious race of bird-like extraterrestrials known as the Chozo were known to be the fiercest warriors in the galaxy. At some point, most of them gave up their warrior ways to take up the path as peaceful researchers. However, a group known as the Mawkin tribe refused to change, thus maintaining their fighting prowess while the rest devolved into frail, pacifistic beings. They stationed themselves on Planet ZDR and usually acted as protectors to the other Chozo tribes. In recent years, the Mawkin came under the leadership of Raven Beak, who had aspirations to rule the galaxy. While under his leadership, the Mawkin managed to capture a member of Kraid's species, as well as two more dangerousspecimens to use as bioweapons. They also used another creature to execute members that prove to be disappointing.
When a young human girl named Samus Aran was adopted by the Chozo and brought to Planet Zebes after being orphaned by the Space Pirates led by Ridley, Raven Beak offered his personal genes to her so that she can survive the planet's harsh environment, thus granting her incredible fighting abilities.
X-Parasite and Metroid crisis[]
The Mawkin tribe assisted the Thoha Tribe during their colonization of Planet SR-388. There, they discovered an incredibly dangerous life-form known as the X-Parasite, which kills and copies whatever living organisms they infect. In response, the Chozo created the Metroids, biological weapons to act as predators to the parasites, but then lost control of their creations and were forced to seal them deep beneath the planet's surface. The Thoha then suggested that they should destroy the planet to prevent either the Metroids or the X-Parasites from endangering the universe. However, Raven Beak saw the Metroids as the key to conquering the the galaxy, so under his orders, the Mawkin betray and massacre the Thoha, save for one member named Quiet Robe, who they took back as a prisoner, as they required the expertise of a Thoha in order to control the Metroids.
They then returned to their home base on ZDR, but then one of the soldiers revealed to be an X copy, and began infecting the rest of the Chozo present, leaving Raven Beak and Quiet Robe as the only survivors. With no other choice, Raven Beak had to seal all of his infected tribesmen within Elun but continued with ambition for galactic domination with Quiet Robe as his only subordinate, along with several robotic warriors at his command.
Metroid Dread[]
Raven Beak eventually got word that the Metroids were hunted to extinction by none other than Samus Aran, thus seemingly foiling his plans to use them, but also learned that Samus had been given a vaccine made from Metroid DNA to help her battle and destroy the X-Parasites. He planned to extract the DNA from Samus so that he could recreate the artificial species. To this end, he deliberately sent a video depicting a live X-Parasite on ZDR to the Galactic Federation hoping it would attract Samus' attention. Instead, they sent seven E.M.M.I. to the planet to gather research, but Raven Beak captured them all, with one of them getting heavily damaged. Knowing they would have to send Samus next, Raven Beak had Quiet Robe reprogram the E.M.M.I. to hunt her down and forcibly extract Samus' DNA, not caring if she got killed in the process.
Upon Samus' arrival to Artaria, deep beneath ZDR, Raven Beak immediately attacked her. During the battle, Samus managed to get a lucky missile shot on his helmet, cracking its eye, but Raven still managed to subdue her. As he prepared to finish her, Samus then activated her dormant Metroid powers, which surprised Raven Beak. Intrigued by this outcome, Raven Beak spared Samus and left her unconscious. Afterwards, Raven Beak begins "assisting" Samus throughout her journey on ZDR by posing as her navigational computer, ADAM whenever she entered a Network Station, so that she can survive long enough to develop her dormant abilities. However, he sometimes drops various hints to his true identity, such as telling her "accept her helplessness" or using tribal terms like "worthy adversary", though the biggest hint would have to be the fact that "ADAM" never referred to Samus as "lady", which was his trademark.
Samus then encountered Quiet Robe in Ferenia, who assisted her by explaining Raven Beak's plans, deactivating the E.M.M.I.s and opening an additional route for her. Seeing that he could no longer be relied upon, Raven Beak had the last Thoha executed by one of his robot soldiers, which was then destroyed by Samus, who vowed to avenge Quiet Robe's death and that of his tribe by defeating Raven Beak personally. Samus then reached Elun, where she encountered the X-Parasites, which took the form of zombified Chozo, except for one who maintained the Mawkin's warrior spirit. After Samus defeated the warrior, Raven Beak then released the parasites onto the rest of ZDR. One of which then infected Quiet Robe's corpse and, using his memories, reactivated the E.M.M.I.s.
Continuing to fight her way through the infested planet, including even more infected Chozo, Samus reaches Hanubia, where her Metroid abilities resurface once again, allowing her to vanquish the last E.M.M.I. easily. Seeing that she had finally reached her full potential, Raven Beak, still posing as ADAM, instructs her to reach his personal vessel, Itorash, where she fully realizes who "ADAM" truly is. Raven Beak then demands for her to serve him, stating that with him commanding her, they can bring true order to the galaxy, and that disobedience will not be tolerated. Samus then responds with an arm cannon blast, showing that she has no intention of serving him after all that he has done. Raven Beak expresses his disappointment in Samus, who he regards as his "daughter" for having his DNA and battles her again.
Despite putting up a valiant fight, Samus is subdued again by Raven Beak, who attempts to strangle her to death while explaining his intention to clone her for an army of ultimate warriors. Angered by this and all the other atrocities he has committed, Samus fully activates her Metroid powers and stabs the evil Chozo in the eye with her hand, absorbing his energy and that of his vessel, causing it to plummet back to the planet's surface. They both survive and Raven Beak attempts to fight Samus again, despite being severely weakened. At that moment, an X-Parasite arrives and infects the Mawkin leader, turning him into a monstrous fusion of himself and Kraid whom Samus had defeated. The creature attempts to kill Samus, but with her new power, she easily destroys it along with the parasite animating it. She then escapes from ZDR before it explodes, thus bringing the disgraced Mawkin tribe to an end.
With their DNA still within her, Samus may be the last Mawkin in existence and perhaps their only hope of redemption.
