Today was my first time seeing them so defeated.

- Darren

This is the 290th episode of unORDINARY and the last chapter of the Division Arc.

Synopsis[]

The male agent taunts John for being deserted by his allies. He and his partner then launch their combined attack on the teen. John manages to avoid them, but realizes he don't have much aura left, while the agents suspect he's up to no good. He decides to destroy the machine, to make sure none of the Spectre agents get to use it again, copying the male agent's ability to do so. This enrage the two, who proceed to attack John again.

Meanwhile, Kayden and Seraphina managed to return back to Darren's apartment safely. A concerned Leilah checks up on her sister, who noticeably had her right arm broken. Seraphina asks on John's whereabout. Kayden answers that the boy were supposed to follow them back. She grabs his collar, furious at him for leaving her best friend alone. He argues that they were outmatched, blaming John's refusal to listen. Seraphina retorts by pointing out the possibility that he got caught by Orrin. Leilah attempts to calm her sister down, only for her effort to be shut down. Seraphina breaks down, saying their mission would be pointless if John is apprehended. She orders Kayden to teleport her back to the lab.

Fortunately, John teleports just in time. Seraphina manages to catch his collapsing body, embracing him. He is grateful at the fact that she is okay, before passing out. She sobs in relief, thankful he manages to return. Darren quietly watches the emotional moment.

On the way to the laundry, Leilah inquires Darren's silence ever since the kids returned. He responds by reminiscing his time working at Wellston; despite John's frequent visit to the infirmary, those two took it in stride, in contrast to what recently happened. It feels wrong for him, who vows to fix them.

Back at the apartment, Seraphina quips that the mission caused her to "lost ten years off (her) life", which John agrees. She is glad he survived, saying so while leaning on to him, a gesture he returns. However, John ponders whether the mission is worth the dangers they experienced, prompting her to grab his wrist to stop his tirade. She then gives him another perspective; with the machine broken, Orrin's subordinates won't be able to recover their abilities as easily as it was, leaving them safe for now.

John voices his bafflement at his inability to read or copy the agents' second ability, wonders whether they obtained it artificially. Seraphina deduces it has to do with Conversion Technology, going by her mission during the field trip. John notes its similarity to his own ability, creeped by the nature of it. Seraphina then guesses its possible source of power: the woman who goes by Jane, the person being held at an unknown branch of NXGen Research Facility, according to the file she managed to peek back then. The mention of her name surprises John.
