We're not here to make enemies with you...
- Terrence
This is the 248th episode of unORDINARY.
Synopsis[]
Terrence is all alone, making an important "business call". He reports that John had indeed been present in Rowden the previous night, and puts in an official request for an investigation to confirm if he's really gone back to Wellston.
Seraphina makes her way to Terrence, secure in the knowledge that John and Arlo are guarding the targets Spectre is likely after. Her confidence plummets when she sees John wandering around equipped with nothing but a map and a hat. His greeting is cut short when she drags him to the side for a serious discussion. When questioned on his headgear, he calls it a disguise. She tells him that it's making him stand out more, but he coyly recalls it serving him well. Seraphina orders him to ditch the cap, much to his disappointment. She tells him to head over to The Obelisk to the others so that she spend her day can focusing on Terrence. But John notes that running with Spectre has made Seraphina disturbingly like her old, workaholic self. In the spur of the moment, he invites her to enjoy the park with him for a bit. Seraphina can't believe what she's hearing, and warns John that Spectre could be watching them. He replies that it was her that said that any funny business in the park would be unlikely, and it would be a waste not to enjoy themselves while they still had the chance. Even if trouble comes up, Arlo could hold the fort with a dome long enough for them to swoop in for a rescue. This seems to convince Seraphina to relax for bit, and an elated John assures her that she wouldn't regret it.
The two best friends have a blast. Seraphina enjoyed the bumper cars, John lived it up in the teacups, and they both kicked back in a tiny plane. Their last stop for the day was the ferris wheel. In the privacy of their booth, John expresses his immense relief that his overactive imagination didn't get the best of him before he found out the truth. He tells her how thankful he is to be able to speak openly with her at long last. Seraphina assures him that she only avoided him in order to protect him from the eyes and weapons of an organization who takes its own secrecy very seriously. John is just glad that it wasn't his fault, and promises that they would make it out of this as a team. He directs her attention to the park below. While she enjoys the sight, John internally doubles down on his mission to break Spectre's hold on her.
Seraphina agrees that John had the right idea, but from now on, they would focus on their serious mission. She asks John to be careful, and resumes her search for Terrence. John pulls out his phone, and sees that Arlo called him five times and left him a dozen messages. With a bit of dread, John returns the call. As expected, Arlo is loud and angry about him flaking on his responsibility. John learns that the group left the obelisk two hours prior and were currently at the ferris wheel. He was to go there with out any further delays. John sighed and set out, unaware of a blue-haired stranger watching his every move.
Terrence is waiting for Seraphina alongside Evie and Roland. As soon as she arrives, the group tells her that they were going to get lunch. Terrence asks Evie and Roland to secure their table while he and Seraphina get food. When they're alone, Seraphina asks her "manager" for a word. Terrence immediately grills her on John keeping her company. Seraphina, still not used to Spectre's impressive intelligence network, swears that John came of his own accord and she tried to stop him. Terrence doesn't care about any of that, just that Seraphina didn't report it immediately. He asks if she kept him close out of fear that her friends' lives were at risk by their organization. Seraphina bitterly points out that the higher ups gave her no reason to doubt that they wouldn't repeat what they did to her. Terrence responds with a bow...and an apology. He swears that her ability-loss was an unfortunate accident resulting from a misunderstanding, and that it's impossible to rectify at present. But they intend to do right by her, as they want her firmly on their side. Terrence admits that trust would be hard to come by. Seraphina doesn't waste time casting suspicion on theses claims, and asks if the executives know about John by now. Terrence confirms this, adding that they're unhappy about it, but are willing to overlook the blunder given that it's her first assignment. Terrence chuckles, and tells Seraphina that all they want her to do at the moment is loosen up. Today was about fun, after all. The work came tomorrow. He then went over to order for the group. Seraphina is relieved that there weren't any consequences yet.
