Add (アッド, Addo?) is a Mystic Code possessed by Gray.
Profile[]
Background[]
Add was created by the witch Morgan le Fay to preserve the Mystery of Rhongomyniad. She based the artificial personality within it on Kay, the knight with the least adoration for King Arthur from the Round Table. That trick seemed more like a plot to “prevent the return of King Arthur” at that time. It was like a strange trick to say “I’ll help with your revival, but I don’t want it to succeed.”[1] This was done without Kay's consent,[2] because he was already dead.[3]
Before being created, its true form was that of the Logos React Replica (ロゴスリアクト・レプリカ, Rogosu Riakuto Repurika?), a replica of Logos React, one of the Seven Superweapons of Atlas. Using the extreme calculative ability inherited from the Seven Superweapons of the Atlas Institute, it continues to seal Rhongomyniad within it.[1]
Add was entrusted to the village at Blackmore Cemetery as part of the plan to resurrect King Arthur and passed down through the centuries. Add was just a silent, inanimate cube until his personality awoke ten years ago, at the same time that Gray's face transformed to look like Artoria's. Since then he was Gray's only friend until Lord El-Melloi II found her years later.
Appearance[]
Add is stored in a bird cage and usually kept hooked under Gray's cloak when he isn't needed.
Reines describes the way Add moves as looking like CG in movies.[4]
Personality[]
His pseudo-personality is based off Kay's, being dirtymouthed yet honest. He frequently laughs at and insults Gray, but does truly care for her as he was her only friend for years before she met Lord El-Melloi II.
He's not afraid to take jabs at Gray regarding her admiration of Waver. He even tells her to kiss Waver while he's asleep on the couch. Gray tends to shake Add's birdcage when he annoys her.
Unlike Trimmau, Add isn't running on a very basic personality program, he can uniquely react to the situation with his own barbs and jabs.[5]
Role[]
Lord El-Melloi II Case Files[]
While Add is always with Gray, it is not often that he does more than make rude commentary and serve as her weapon.
case. Mystic Eyes Collection Train[]
case. Atlas Contract[]
When Gray and Lord El-Melloi II enter a simulation inside the Logos React and encounter the Corpse King, her bone soldiers almost overwhelm them as Add seems to not be working properly. As things are getting desperate, Add shines and Kay manifests from within Add to protect them. Kay notes that the scythe is not in any condition to be able to wake him up, but did so anyway to protect Gray.[6] He spends this entire story arc unconscious while Kay is outside of him. After Kay disappears, Add wakes back up and has Kay's memories of what happened while he was unconscious.[3]
After they defeat the Corpse King, Zepia Eltnam Atlasia informs Gray that her releasing the Restraints of the Round Table on the Rail Zeppelin had injured Add which is why he hadn't been working quite as well since then. If she had unlocked more of them, it would have permanently broken him.[7]
case. Grand Roll[]
When Gray uses Rhongomyniad again in the Spiritual Tomb of Albion, due to the strain from the Restraints of the Round Table something within Add breaks and his consciousness dies.[8] However after the final battle with Doctor Heartless and Faker Add is revived by a miracle thanks to Iskandar, who had become a Divine Spirit.[9]
The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II[]
The Devil of the Wandering Sea[]
Gray develops a new transformation for Add, Rhongomyniad Mythos. No one is sure how or why she was able to unlock this new ability.[10] When the group begins boarding a plane to fly to Egypt, where Atlas is based, the Logos React Replica starts acting up and El-Melloi II grows worried.[11]
Legacy of the Alchemist[]
The group accompanies a joint expedition of Atlas and the Clock Tower on an expedition of the secret underwater Library of Alexandria. Add knows his way around the library and guides Gray's team. While others ask how Add could know the way, Gray keeps his identity a secret because she doesn't want to reveal that she has a Logos React replica in front of members of Atlas.[12]
During the expedition Gray figures out that the sudden transformation of Rhongomyniad Mythos in Japan wasn't a miracle, but was because the Logos React Replica had created a new function for Rhongomyniad that it didn't have before.[12]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Lady Reines Case Files[]
Add was summoned alongside Gray by Zhuge Liang's Noble Phantasm Chu Shi Biao. After the events of the Patchwork London Singularity Gray and Add come to Chaldea where Sion Eltnam Sokaris, a magus from Atlas, expresses interest in him.
Abilities[]
Add's consciousness is in tune with Gray's. Whenever Gray falls asleep or is knocked unconscious, Add is as well. If Gray's memories are muddled due to being drugged or something similar, Add's memories will also be muddled.[13]
Add can fall asleep to repair damages to his programming, but if the damage is too severe then there's nothing he can do.[7]
Add can only be used by someone with the Blackmore Magic Crest. That person is currently Gray. The Magic Crest has no extra magecraft added to it through the generations like most Crests do. Its sole purpose is to allow the owner to use Add.[14]
Weapons[]
Add has three stages of restraints, and with each restraint that is rescinded he gains new abilities. At first stage restraint rescinded he is capable of changing his shape into a variety of weapons for Gray to use. His primary weapon form is a scythe, but he can become other weapons such as a hammer, bow, or shield.[1][15] Add can consume spiritual bodies and magical energy to increase Gray's physical abilities.
- Scythe: This is Add's usual form. It is the best one at absorbing magical energy while being second best in attack power.[15]
- Great Shield: It is capable of absorbing magical energy and then releasing it in a concentrated burst of flame.[15]
- Hammer: Its magical energy absorption is D-rank, but it has the highest attack. Its strength is equivalent to a D-rank Mana Burst from a Servant.[16] Gray does rely on it when she really needs to. Its swings are jet-powered via magical energy flames from exhausts.[15]
- Boomerang: A giant boomerang swung using both hands. If it's for a short distance, they can even be used as gliding wings. She uses it this way in volume 7.[15]
- Halberd: This form shares part of its design with Rhongomyniad. This one has the highest speed and sharpness. Using this one reminds Gray the most of her trance-like state when using Rhongomyniad, so she doesn't like it very much.[15]
- Bow: A bow that shoots arrows of magical energy.[15]
- Grappling hook: Used to return to the Rail Zeppelin when Gray was knocked off the train.[15]
- Greatsword: Rarely used, an imitation of Excalibur. To begin with there's no real reason to have Rhongomyniad imitate Excalibur, but this form was something set up by the Arthur cultists from Gray's hometown.[15]
Rhongomyniad[]
« Gray: Gray, Rave, Crave, Deprave. Grave me. Grave for you.

(Gray and Add activating Rhongomyniad.) |
At second stage restraint rescinded, Add suspends his pseudo-personality and reveals Rhongomyniad, allowing Gray to use the Holy Spear. It is also able to use its immense calculative ability to display a portion of the power of Rhongomyniad itself.[1]
« Pseudo-personality suspended. Magical energy yield exceeds regulation. Second stage restraint rescinded.

(Add activating the Restraints of the Round Table against Faker.) |
If Rhongomyniad needs to be stronger and enough of the Restraints of the Round Table are approved, Add reaches third stage restraint rescinded, making Rhongomyniad stronger for each of the Restraints of the Round Table that were approved. However, Add using the Restraints of the Round Table puts a lot of strain on his pseudo-personality and risks breaking it.[7]
Sir Kay[]
As a last resort Add has the ability to project a spirit of Kay, the person who was the basis for his pseudo-personality, out from within himself. When he does so Add falls unconscious and Gray is unable to transform him into any of his weapon forms. This Kay is not a Servant but a recreated spirit, with a hazy appearance as if he is not fully there.[6][1] He can only last for a few hours. He can use his Noble Phantasm, Camelot Image, but if he does so it will burn out his Spirit Origin and he'll disappear.[3][1] When Kay disappears, Add wakes back up with Kay's memories of what happened while he was asleep.[3]
Development[]
Add's name comes from the words "addition" and "Rhongomyniad."[1]

The Mystic Code sealing the Noble Phantasm Rhongomyniad, possessed by Gray.
Created by the Witch Morgan, she based the artificial personality within it on the knight with the least adoration for King Arthur from the Round Table. Thinking about the Atlas Contract Incident, that trick seemed more like a plot to “prevent the return of King Arthur” at that time. It was like a strange trick to say “I’ll help with your revival, but I don’t want it to succeed.”
Before being created, its true form was that of the Logos React Replica. Using the extreme calculative ability inherited from the Seven Superweapons of the Atlas Institute, it continues to seal Rhongomyniad within it. In its released form, it can of course take the shape of a scythe, but also that of a hammer, shield, hook spear, or even a boomerang. It is also able to use its immense calculative ability to display a portion of the power of Rhongomyniad itself. The appearance of the knight in “The Atlas Contract” occurred due to the same theoretical principle. Their personality was a result of a complex merger of that original knight’s and the present day Add’s, so strictly speaking it belonged to neither of them. That was likely why it was able to finally deploy the Pseudo Phantasm.
For Gray, Add was her only friend for a long time.
The name Add comes both from the word “addition” and from the tail end of the word “Rhongomyniad.”
