Class Berserker (クラス・バーサーカー, Bāsākā?), Mad Warrior and Heroic Spirit of Berserk Rage (狂戦士の英霊?), is one of the Four Cavalry Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. Servants placed within this Class are always Heroic Spirits who have gone berserkWP during battle at least once in their lifetime. This trait allows them to use the special ability Mad Enhancement, which trades their consciousnessWP and sanity for a large power boost. This Class is usually for magi who have summoned Heroic Spirits with insufficient abilities and attributes, allowing them to strengthen their Servants to make up for their lower attributes and compete against stronger opponents. While it is ideal for Servants to reach the level of the Heroic Spirit, the Class allows for their attributes to surpass even the original. If used on an already strong Heroic Spirit, such as Heracles, they will become empowered to truly extraordinary levels. The abuse of this to create powerful Servants has made the Class referred to as the strongest of all seven classes.
It is possible to specify in the summoning ritual that the Servant be placed under the Berserker Class for those familiar with the workings of the Grail System. By adding in a specific line, Zouken Matou and the Einzbern family, as members of the Three Founding Families, were able to choose the Class during the Fourth and Fifth Holy Grail Wars respectively. This Class comes at a price, as the Berserker Class is the most difficult to control and a Master must expend a large amount of additional magical energy merely to maintain the Berserker, and the affected Heroic Spirit may lose access to certain abilities or even Noble Phantasms depending on how much sanity it has taken away for power.
Masters are unable to utilize coordination with their Servant unless gifted with superb control over them. The lack of complex rational thinking keeps them from being able to follow more than simple directions, and it may even require Command Spells to keep them from acting on their own. They generally rely on little other than brute strength and overwhelming, uncontrolled strikes to physically beat down their opponents. As a result, in every Holy Grail War before the Fifth, the magical energy consumption and insanity of the Berserker Class has made them incredibly difficult to maintain and control. Kariya Matou is drained of his energy at a high rate and eventually it causes his death, but he could have handled another Class without difficulty. They have generally brought about their own Master's ruin due to their inability to control them, so the Einzbern family developed Ilyasviel's Magic Circuits specifically so that she could handle the strain with ease in the Fifth Holy Grail War.

« The first image that came to my mind when I heard "Berserker" Was, as you might imagine, a giant with an impressive musculoskeletal structure swinging a massive axe and laying waste to several targets at once. Unfortunately this was pretty much the Berserker you get in-game, and it was important not to limit the player's conception of the class to that once specific image. So my take on the Berserker class for the tarot card ended up being a tall and lithe warrior carrying a wide blade. The goat head, often associated with the devil, was meant to lend an air of madness. » |

One of the Servants of the Red camp. Though he was deceived by Shirou Kotomine, he understood the situation and reluctantly decided to serve him. A natural-born warrior who, rather than concerning himself over whether or not Shirou’s wish would be fulfilled, looked forward to his showdown with Archer of Black more than anything else.
His true name is Achilles. The fastest hero among all humanity, lauded for his great valor and prowess in the Trojan War. He definitely ranks equals with Heracles in terms of fame—after all, his name is attached to one of the vital points of the human body.
However, in contrast with his fame, the time during which Achilles accomplished great deeds was comparatively short. His deeds are also almost completely carved into the Trojan War alone. He had the turning point of his life thrust before him at a young age: he could run through his life like a transient gale in exchange for accomplishing magnificent deeds in the Trojan War, or he could become a person unknown to anyone in the world and live a long life.
Achilles gave his answer to his mother without hesitating. “—I will live a short yet brilliant life.”
Achilles was raised by Chiron and, after undergoing training as a hero, he threw himself into the Trojan War. Meeting his sword friend Patroclus, meeting his wife, battles and sworn rivals, meeting Hector—
Without a doubt, Achilles ran through his life while treating all of those things as a joy to have experienced.
He is without a doubt first rate as a Servant. Even among the Servants from Greek legend, he boasts of power that ranks next to Heracles. He also has an abnormally abundant number of Noble Phantasms. In the beginning, all these Noble Phantasms were written out, and when I consulted over how many of them should be used, Mr. NP said, “Isn’t a super-strong Servant with an abundance of Noble Phantasms fine?”, and easily permitted all of them to be adopted. I never thought I would end up using all of them…
Naturally, he is a Servant who would instantly run out of prana if he used them in a normal Holy Grail War. The prana consumption of Rider’s chariot is uncommonly harsh in particular, and only a first rate Master could fully utilize him.
Additionally, besides the Rider class, Achilles has aptitude as a Lancer, Berserker and, quite unusually, a Shielder. His complement of Noble Phantasms is slightly different in each of the other classes. For instance, as a Lancer, he would lose his chariot since it is his Noble Phantasm as a Rider, but his spear would gain the secondary effect of causing HP reduction.
His fatal weak point, his heel, serves as the linchpin for his Noble Phantasms “Andreis Amarantos: Amaranth of the Brave”, which maintains his immortality, and “Dromeus Cometes: Comet Form”, for which he is extolled as the fastest, and when his heel is pierced, these two Noble Phantasms disappear. After being pierced once, it is extremely difficult for his heel to be healed, and, without the use of some extraordinary means, there is no way for him to completely regain his running speed afterwards.
In this Great Holy Grail War, Achilles wished for a showdown with his teacher, Archer of Black, and gave his assent to Shirou Kotomine’s actions for the sake of accomplishing that. This might be because, leaving aside his animosity towards Semiramis, he does not really hold much ill feelings towards Shirou. Just as Archer of Black aptly pointed out, Achilles is naïve when it comes to his recognition of enemies and allies. This is a probably demonstration of the difference of experience between him and the older Cu Chulainn, who is able to decisively kill when he needs to kill even when split between enemies and allies in such a manner.
His connection to Atalanta actually begins from a story he heard from his father in life. His father, who was always somehow gentle and could never stand up against his mother, had spoken of his encounter with Atalanta embarrassingly, and because of that the young Achilles always remembered her. He never got the chance to meet her in life, though.
Achilles thinks that it is his fault for overlooking Atalanta’s transformation while engrossed in his own battle. He fought her in her rampage as a way of atonement. Achilles cried out of guilt for having crushed Atalanta’s dream.

The legendary warrior of the Ulster Cycle of Celtic mythology. A member of the Red Branch Knights and the strongest fighter of Ulster, he won his fame with his mastery of the invincible spear techniques taught to him by Scáthach, the ruler of the alternate realm called the Land of Shadows.

As a murderer rather than an assassin, she can strike before her victim. However, she can only unconditionally take the first strike at night. During the day, a luck roll is required. Jack the Ripper's victims are believed to have all been attacked while off-guard.
- Information Erasure - Rank B:
At the instant a battle ends, her abilities, true name, appearance, and other information disappear from witnesses' and enemies' memories/records, even if the battle took place in broad daylight, or was recorded on a device such as a camera. To counter this, one must deduce her identity from evidence left at the scene.
- Mental Pollution - Rank C:
Has a moderate chance of blocking mental interference-type magecraft. If her Master has an evil alignment, or is cruel to her, this mental pollution gradually rises. Her chances of blocking magecraft will increase, but her already broken spirit will begin to irreversibly corrupt.
- Surgical Operation - Rank E:
Can heal her Master or herself using a blood-stained scalpel. It looks risky, but she manages somehow. The techniques are from 120 years in the past, but are improved a little with mana. Jack the Ripper killed victims in ways that would require anatomical knowledge, such as removal of specific organs.
- Presence Concealment - Rank A+:
A skill that suppresses presence as a Servant, suitable for covert action. If presence were fully suppressed, she would be nearly impossible to detect. However, when prepared to attack, Presence Concealment's rank falls substantially. This weakness is compensated for with "Misty Night Murderer", allowing for a perfect surprise attack.
- Mad Enhancement - Rank C:
If summoned as a Berserker, she gains this skill. Increases all parameters in rank with the exception of Luck and Mana, but removes the ability to speak or have complex thoughts. As a Berserker, she is only active at night, with "Darkened Misty Metropolis" always active, and will attack anything that possesses mana.
Noble Phantasm
- Maria the Ripper: The Holy Mother of Dismemberment
Normally four D-rank knives, but under certain conditions, they are boosted by the grudge of "the 80 thousand children in London's slums, abandoned by prostitute mothers for the sake of their livelihoods, unable to even become prostitutes", with brutal results. There are three conditions. "It is night-time", "the target is a woman (or female)", and "it is misty". When all the conditions are fulfilled and the Noble Phantasm is activated, the target's innards are forced out of their body, and they become a dismembered corpse. When the conditions are not met, it is limited to simple damage, but increases in power with each condition that is fulfilled. As the Noble Phantasm is not an attack from a knife but rather a variety of curse, it can be used at long range. To defend against this Noble Phantasm, resistance against curses is required, rather than physical defence.
- The Mist: Darkened Misty Metropolis
A Noble Phantasm that creates a mist-filled barrier. The mist itself, created with mana, is the Noble Phantasm. Although it is a means of keeping people out, a non-magus trapped inside the barrier will die after a few turns. A magus will not die immediately, but will take continuous damage. A Heroic Spirit will not take damage, but their Speed will decrease by one rank. The user of the Noble Phantasm is able to choose who is or is not affected by the fog. As those trapped in the fog lose their sense of direction, an "Instinct" skill ranked B or higher or some kind of magecraft is necessary to escape. The large quantity of soot emitted from the Industrial Revolution onward became a smog of sulphuric acid that caused disaster to London in the 1950s. "Darkened Misty Metropolis" is a Noble Phantasm that reproduces that "mist of death".

ジャック・ザ・リッパーは1888年8月31日から約2ヵ月間に、少なくとも売春婦5人を殺したと目される殺人犯の通称である。猟奇殺人鬼の知名度ランキングがあれば、おそらく世界トップに輝くだろう。確たる証拠は死体以外殆ど残さず、人種や性別すら謎に包まれている。天才とも愚者とも、貧民とも王族に繋がる人物とも推理されたが、はっきりとはしていない。また、劇場型犯罪の祖とも呼ばれ、署名入りの手紙と臓器の切れ端を新聞社に送り付けたことでも有名である。ただ、それらが本物かどうかは定かになっていない。つまり、ジャック・ザ・リッパーについては、結局"何も分かっていない"のである。

対戦が終了した瞬間に目撃者と対戦相手の記憶・記録から、彼女の能力、真名、外見特徴などの情報が消失する。たとえ戦闘が白昼堂々でも、カメラなどの機械の監視でも効果は変わらない。これに対抗するには、現場に残った証拠から論理と分析により正体を導き出さねばならない。

精神干渉系の魔術を中確率で遮断する。この精神汚染はマスターが悪の属性を持っていたり、彼女に対して残酷な行為を行ったりした場合、段階を追って上昇する。魔術の遮断確率は上がるが、ただでさえ破綻している彼女の精神は取り返しのつかないところまで退廃していく。

血まみれのメスを使用してマスターおよび自己の治療が可能。見た目は保証されないが、とりあえずなんとかなる。120年前の技術でも、魔力の上乗せで少しはマシ。ジャック・ザ・リッパーの犠牲者は特定の臓器を摘出されるなど、解剖学的知識を要する殺され方をしていた。

宝具
- 解体聖母(Maria the Ripper)
通常はランクDの4本のナイフだが、条件を揃えることで"当時ロンドンの貧民街に8万人いたという娼婦たちが生活のために切り捨てた、娼婦にすらなれなかった子どもたち"の怨念が上乗せされ、凶悪な効果を発揮する。条件は3つ。"時間帯が夜であること"、"相手が女性(または雌)であること"、"霧が出ていること"。すべての条件が整っている時に宝具を使用すると、対象の身体の中身を問答無用で外に弾き出し、解体された死体にする。条件が整っていない場合は単純なダメージを与えるに留まるが、その際も条件がひとつ整うたびに威力が跳ね上がる。この宝具はナイフによる攻撃ではなく一種の呪いであるため、遠距離でも使用可能。この宝具の効果を防ぐには、物理的な防御力ではなく、呪いへの耐性が必要となる。
- 暗黒霧都(The Mist)
霧の結界を張る結界宝具。魔力で発生させた霧そのものが宝具である。"人払い"とはいうものの、魔術師ではない者が無理に結界の内側に留まった場合、数ターン後に死亡する。魔術師ならばすぐに死ぬことはないが、ダメージを受け続ける。英霊ならばダメージは受けないが、敏捷が1ランクダウンする。霧のなかにいる誰かに効果を与え、誰に効果を与えないのかは宝具の使用者が選択可能。霧によって方向感覚が失われるため、脱出するにはランクB以上のスキル"直感"、もしくは何らかの魔術行使が必要になる。産業革命以降、大量排出されるようになった膨大な石炭の煤煙が、1950年代に硫酸の霧となってロンドンに大災害を引き起こした。"暗黒霧都"は、その"死の霧"を再現する宝具である。
