Emerald Eggman[1] is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is the form that Dr. Ivo Robotnik can assume by absorbing the Master Emerald and its power.
Appearance[]
With the Master Emerald absorbed into himself, the red-lined details on Dr. Ivo Robotnik's overcoat becomes green while retaining its black colors. His eyes also glow emerald green. Green electricity also flows through Dr. Robotnik's body, which he can extend around himself in the form of lightning bolts.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]
After stealing the Master Emerald, Dr. Ivo Robotnik was teleported away from its temple, absorbing the Emerald and its power along the way. Reappearing in the Mean Bean Coffee Café, Green Hills, Robotnik revealed the power he possessed while freeing Agent Stone, who had been handcuffed by Wade Whipple, and having Wade take his captive position. Shortly afterwards, G.U.N. had surrounded the café, but Robotnik had a solution to this. Going outside, Robotnik confronted Commander Walters, Tom, Maddie, and several G.U.N. soldiers. As Walters told Robotnik that the government had seized all his assets, Robotnik responded by using his powers to pull in G.U.N.'s arsenal and various other components from the environment, which he used to build the Giant Eggman Robot. Putting himself in control of the robot, with Agent Stone as his co-pilot, Robotnik had the giant robot trample around Green Hills, forcing G.U.N. to retreat. Soon after though, Sonic and Tails appeared in the Tornado. Annoyed by Sonic's constant returns, Robotnik decided to shoot him down with a missile barrage. Since Agent Stone was still figuring out the controls however, Robotnik did it for him, inadvertently electrocuting Agent Stone in the process. Though Sonic and Tails slipped through the barrage, he did manage to catch Sonic with one missile. Knuckles then arrived, but Robotnik had his robot's hand deal with his attack when Knuckles tried attacking him head on. Tails then tried shooting at Robotnik's robot with the Tornado's guns, but Agent Stone managed to use the robot's 'Stache Masher feature to make the Tornado crash. However, Robotnik was left alone when Sonic returned with the missile and directed it into the robot, which shook the machine enough to knock Agent Stone out.
After sending his Badniks after Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, who easily dealt with them, Sonic came up to the robot and challenged Robotnik himself. Refusing to let Sonic get the better of him, Robotnik began following Sonic out of Green Hills. When he needed a break though, which prompted Sonic to taunt him further, Robotnik responded with his plans to enslave and conquer, turning everyone into his machines, starting with Earth, then the universe, and finally the multiverse before opening eye lasers on Sonic. Eventually, Robotnik caught up to Sonic as he was crossing a bridge, which he blew up with the robot's nose laser, sending a weakened Sonic plummeting down. As Robotnik gloated about his superiority to the grounded Sonic however, he discovered that he was all-seeing as well, which let him notice Tails broke into the robot's cockpit. As Tails began confusing him with holographic images of himself, Robotnik took them all out with his powers. However, Tails soon told him that he was just a distraction. It was then that Robotnik discovered Knuckles nearby, who managed to punch the Master Emerald out of Robotnik and revert him back to normal.
Powers and abilities[]
With his base form's genius intellect and the Master Emerald's power to create and destroy, Dr. Robotnik's transformation is near god-like, with his having stylized himself as all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-seeing.

Possessing the Master Emerald's ability to turn thoughts into reality, Emerald Eggman is able to perform various reality-bending feats in this form, which grants him a vast array of powers. These include the ability to fly and long-distance teleportation. He can also manipulate green energy that he can discharge around himself as lightning bolts, which he can use to power and supercharge machines from afar, like turning the light-fixtures on the Mean Bean Coffee Café computer to turn green and supercharging Badniks and the Giant Eggman Robot, or project his energy as green lasers from his fingers and green shockwaves from his body. The energy he discharges can also electrocute those that get too close to him. Robotnik could also create constructs out of this energy. In this form, Robotnik has also demonstrated vast technokinetic and telekinetic abilities that allow him pick up and disassemble tanks, vehicles, cars, trains, and other forms of machinery, all at the same time over a large area. He can then manipulate these materials and reassemble them into new forms in a black vortex of green energy. Combined with his genius, Robotnik is capable of constructing immense feats of engineering and science in a matter of minutes in this form, like the fully functioning and independent Giant Eggman Robot. Thanks to his technokinetic abilities in this form, Robotnik can also control his mechanical creations using only his own body movements and thoughts, and even channel the Master Emerald's energy through them to have fire green energy lasers. In this form, Robotnik could also smell the electricity in Agent Stone's brain. Due to being all-seeing in this form as well, Robotnik can detect the presence of approaching people that are outside his normal field of vision. He has also demonstrated vacuum breath and the ability to ingest matter, as shown when he sucked a display bagel into his mouth and ate it. In this state, Robotnik can also manipulate his voice, such as making himself sound auto tuned. Robotnik's transformation also increases his durability to the point that he can survive a chaos energy-infused punch from Knuckles, albeit at the cost of the transformation itself.
Weaknesses[]
While nearly unstoppable in this form, Emerald Eggman is not invincible, as the Master Emerald can still be dislodged from Robotnik with a sufficient enough blow to his body, which will result in him reverting back to normal. In addition, Robotnik's power also seems to have increased his insanity.
Trivia[]
- This is not the first occurrence in which a version of Dr. Robotnik gained superpowers by using an emerald.
- Dr. Robotnik from the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions achieved godlike status by absorbing the powers of the Chaos Emeralds. However, he was defeated when that power was siphoned from him with the Grey Emerald.
- Dr. Robotnik from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series became Supreme High Robotnik with the power of the Chaos Emeralds.
- A similar occurrence also happened when Robotnik became Super Robotnik in the episode of the same name, as a result of the Super Formula.
- Emerald Eggman shares all of his international voice actors with Dr. Robontik, similar to Super Sonic.
