The Biolizard[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was the prototype of the "ultimate life form" created by Gerald Robotnik during Project: Shadow, but was abandoned when Gerald developed Shadow the Hedgehog. It later played a part in Gerald's plans to destroy Mobius to avenge the death of his granddaughter Maria Robotnik, but was defeated.
Appearance[]
The Biolizard was a colossal and grotesque four-legged lizard-like beast with flame skin and a dark gray underbelly. It possessed a long neck, gill-like flaps on the sides of its torso, a medium-long and thick tail, and had three large and sharp toes on each foot which were gray and metallic. It also had a large mouth with no teeth and four yellow spikes on the lower jaw. On its back, hips and tail, the Biolizard also had yellow patches of skin.
The Biolizard had several robotic parts attached to its body. Its eyes were like gun-turrets and it had a large disk-shaped machinery with a red orb in the middle on its back. It also had several cables on its back and a set of green cables on its jaw joints which were connected with the machinery on its back, along with a stump of green cable on its forehead.
History[]
The Biolizard's creation was conceived when "Project: Shadow" was launched by the Republic of Station Square. This project, led by Gerald Robotnik, was meant to develop the "ultimate life form" to achieve immortality. Gerald's motives for creating such a creature, however, was as a means to find a cure to the Neuro-Immuno Deficiency Syndrome affecting his granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. The Biolizard was created by Gerald as his best prototype for the "ultimate life form," but it required a build-in life-support system. In the end, the Biolizard was abandoned when Gerald produced a more advanced being with Black Doom's DNA: Shadow the Hedgehog.[2] The Biolizard was later taken into the custody of the military around 3186 when they seized control of Project: Shadow for their own gain.[3] When Gerald later wanted to destroy Mobius to avenge Maria's death, the Biolizard was set up to guard the shrine room aboard Space Colony ARK.
The Biolizard presumably remained onboard the Space Colony ARK for fifty years until 3236 when Dr. Eggman found Shadow and used him in an attempt to conquer Mobius. When Shadow turned on Eggman and joined forces with Sonic the Hedgehog to stop Gerald's plans to destroy Mobius, the Biolizard appeared in the shrine room. There, it used Chaos Control to fuse with the Space Colony ARK on the Eclipse Cannon and began pulling the entire space station towards Mobius. However, it was subsequently defeated by both Super Sonic and Super Shadow.[4]
Powers and abilities[]
The Biolizard possessed an unspecified connection to the Chaos Force, allowing it to perform Chaos Control.[4] However, it was overall weak and required a life-support system to stay alive.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Biolizard's design appears to be based off the Bio Lizard's design from the Sonic X anime series (which had four legs), rather than the Biolizard from Sonic Adventure 2 (which had two forelegs and two back flippers).
