Super Neo Metal Sonic,[3] also known simply as Super Neo Metal,[2] is a transformation that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is the Super State of Neo Metal Sonic, achieved through powering up with the Master Emerald.
Appearance[]
Super Neo Metal Sonic looks identical to his form before powering up with the Master Emerald. However, in placement of his blue coat of paint, he glows gold instead.
History[]
Battle For Angel Island[]
In a stand-off against Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna inside his newly-built fortification around the Master Emerald's shrine on Angel Island, Neo Metal Sonic assumed the new form of Super Neo Metal Sonic by absorbing the power of the Master Emerald before challenging the two heroes.[2] Super Neo Metal Sonic proceeded to toy around with Sonic and Knuckles in battle, all while ruining or foiling any plan and attempt they made to snatch the Master Emerald away from him. After defeating both heroes easily, Super Neo Metal Sonic found disappointment in them as he never had to unleash his final form. Suddenly, however, he was attacked by Shadow, who forced him back to his previous form with a Chaos Spear to the torso and beaten back to his throne on the Master Emerald.[1]
Game appearances[]
Sonic Speed Simulator[]
In Sonic Speed Simulator, Super Neo Metal Sonic makes an appearance as a boss during the Neo Metal Sonic's Revenge event. Later once the player finishes the event, the Super Neo Metal Sonic Boss Battle is unlocked, where the player can take on Super Neo Metal Sonic as Super Sonic. Initially, the entrance to the boss was in Green Hill during the event. After the event, though, the entrance was moved to Space Colony ARK.
Powers and abilities[]
In his Super State, Neo Metal Sonic's innate abilities far surpass his normal ones. His power proved so great that he could toy around with powerful individuals like Sonic the Hedgehog and Knuckles the Echidna without trouble.[1]
As Super Neo Metal Sonic, Neo Metal Sonic commands incredible speed, being able to move faster than both Sonic and Knuckles can react and easily match even Sonic's speed. He also has immense strength, overpowering even Knuckles with a simple hand slap. He can also project golden energy bolts and even electrocute his foes with them.[1]
Battle[]
Super Neo Metal Sonic is a boss in Sonic Speed Simulator that appears during the Neo Metal Sonic's Revenge event. The boss battle is essentially a harder version of the Neo Metal Sonic fight.
Before the battle starts, a cutscene will play the start, which serves as a continuation of the previous battle. Neo Metal Sonic, left with a single remaining health point, charges himself up and transforms into his Super form, with his health gauge back to 6000.
Boss guide[]
The battle against Super Neo Metal Sonic is essentially a hard mode of the battle against his previous form, with most attack patterns being identical to defeat Super Neo Metal Sonic, the player must target him while his shield is down, which leaves him vulnerable to Super Sonic's attacks. Super Neo Metal Sonic mainly attacks by throwing blasts of electricity at the player, but may also send large Chaos Spear-like yellow beams, small red laser beams that block the player's path, and a big red laser beam which will track the player. Getting hit by attacks will cost the player Rings, which the player needs to stay in the battle. Each of his attacks can be avoided simply by steering the hedgehog out of the way. After attacking a certain number of times, Super Neo Metal Sonic's shield will go down which will leave him temporarily vulnerable, giving the player the opportunity to attack him as many times as possible before he reassumes his shield. Before the fight cycles itself, a quick time event will appear where Super Neo Metal Sonic will grow bigger and attack the player with a giant forcefield. The player needs to mash the button in order to succeed. If succeeded, the player will deal extremely large damage to the boss.

Tips[]
- Whenever a red target is locked-on the player while Super Neo Metal Sonic raises his arm in the air, it means he will throw blasts of electricity at the player. The player can perform a Parry at the attack to cause a damage total of 10 towards the foe.
- Whenever no red target is locked-on the player while Neo Metal Sonic raises his arm in the air, it means he will throw Chaos Spear-like attacks. The player can either avoid the attacks themselves or perform a Parry at the number of attacks the foe launches, with a damage total of 10 for each one.
- Whenever a red target is locked-on the player while Neo Metal Sonic does not raises his arm in the air, he will launches a specific attack depending on the length:
- If it is a short gap, it means he will launch small red laser beams at the player to block its path. The player must navigate through the field to avoid touching them. During the attack, Super Neo Metal Sonic will also throw Chaos Spear-like attacks at the player. Again, the player can choose to avoid the attacks, or perform a Parry towards the attack itself.
- If it is a long gap, it means he will launch a giant red laser beam that will track the player. The player must avoid being touched by the attack.

Trivia[]
- Super Neo Metal Sonic is quite similar to Super Mecha Sonic Mk. II from Sonic & Knuckles, as they had both achieved their Super States by powering up with the Master Emerald.
- Super Neo Metal Sonic's line "Show me what you're made of." is likely a reference to Metal Overlord's main theme in Sonic Heroes, as well as a parallel to a quote spoken by Super Sonic during his fight as the final boss of said game.[4]
- Super Neo Metal Sonic is the first comic-exclusive transformation to appear in a Sonic game, the game in question being Sonic Speed Simulator.
