The Miles Electric[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series produced by Paramount Pictures and its spin-offs. It is a personalized, multi-functional handheld computer used by Tails.

The first iteration of the Miles Electric depicted was a handheld device with an amber plastic casing. It possessed a square shape with squares for corners (except for the lower left corner, which was longer than the others) and had both a thin handle with black wrappings on the top and a gray-black grip with orange plastic plating on the bottom. It also had small went holes in the upper corners and the lower left corner, and a small green button in the lower right corner. It also had what appeared to be a silver button on each side, and a thin antenna on the right side of its top surface. Lastly, it had a green-black and square screen in the center.
The second iteration of the Miles Electric depicted is a square-shaped and somewhat flat, handheld device with an amber plastic casing and a square and black touchscreen on the front. It possesses a recess on each side of its casing, giving it prominent corners, and gray handlebars attached to the sides and on the top. It also has a gray antenna shaped like a coil on the top of its right upper corner and small went holes in the upper corners.

The Miles Electric is a multifunctional device. First of all, it is capable of tracking chaos energy signatures, provided it has a match to work out from.[1][2] Its tracking range for chaos energies can extend over an entire galaxy, and thanks to the modifications made by Tails, it can narrow the whereabouts of such signatures down to just a few planets, whereas other means for finding a specific signature would leave one with a search comparable to a hunt for a needle in 10,000 haystacks.[2]
The Miles Electric is also able to project holograms from its screen, such as maps of planetary systems. It can detect interference from Ring portals and use them to detect when a Ring portal is inbound.[2] The Miles Electric also has a build-in voice translator, capable of recording what a person says and then repeating it in a different language. However, its translator function is flawed, which can result in it translating sentences wrong. The Miles Electric also has a "Miles Multiplier" function that allows it to create multiple holograms of Tails himself or other people. These holograms are easily dispatched with physical force. The Miles Electric is also capable of remotely operating Tails' other devices and gadgets.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]
Using the Miles Electric, Tails would confirm Sonic the Hedgehog's chaos energy signature in the vicinity upon his arrival on Earth. When later trying to escape Knuckles with Sonic in a stolen police car, Tails used his Miles Electric to operate the gadgets he used to drive the police car.
In Siberia, Tails was unable to pinpoint the coordinates of the owl temple he and Sonic were searching for on his Miles Electric due to a snowstorm. Finding shelter in a local bar, Tails used his Miles Electric' translator to order a some food from the bar's waitress. When the waitress brought the wrong dish however, Tails tried to correct it with the Miles Electric, only for its translator to glitch and provoke the patrons' anger. As Sonic and Tails stood to get thrown into the fireplace however, Tails used his Miles Electric to look up the Siberian "Pivonka" custom that he invoked to settle their dispute. During the Pivonka challenge, which was a dance-off, Tails used his Miles Electric's Miles Multiplier to create holograms of himself and Sonic that added variety to their choreography, allowing them to win the challenge.
The next day, Tails used his Miles Electric to find the owl temple. There, Tails used the Miles Electric to translate the inscriptions inside about the Master Emerald's background. When later fighting the Giant Eggman Robot, Tails used the Miles Electric to create holographic clones of himself to distract Dr. Robotnik.

While using the Miles Electric to scan for Sonic, Tails arrived in Green Hill Zone. There, the Miles Electric found a match for Sonic's chaos energy signature in an old drawing in Longclaw and Sonic's old home. With this match, Tails was able to narrow Sonic's whereabouts down to just a few planets using his Miles Electric despite some transwarp interference. While using the Miles Electric to follow the chaos energy signatures across different planets however, Tails discovered from the device that the interference was caused by someone following him via Rings. After hitting several dead ends, Tails consulted his Miles Electric again, which showed two chaos energy signatures: one on the Mushroom Planet and one on Earth. With the device detecting the imminent arrival of his pursuers as well, Tails left to investigate his leads.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Miles Electric's design greatly resembles its mainline counterpart (specifically its look from Sonic Unleashed), albeit with a vertical design, a much smaller size, and a lack of antennae.
- The Miles Electric's translation glitch may be a call back to the repeated attempts to translate Yacker in Sonic Colors.
