Frank is the overarching antagonist of the 2022 horror film Barbarian.
He was portrayed by Richard Brake.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- In the 1980s, he pretended to be a maintenance man in order to leave the bathroom windows open so he could kidnap his victims later. He also arranged to have an extensive, labyrinth-like tunnel system in the basement of his house, where he would film himself raping the women in one of hundreds of rooms.
- He kept all of the snuff films he made as VHS tapes, possibly to masturbate himself later, as shown when AJ shines a flashlight on a shelf full of them.
- Some of the VHS titles include "Pregnant," "No Teeth," "Blind," "Puker," and "Won't Stop Crying".
- AJ watches the VHS tape "Gas Station Redhead," where it can be heard that Frank's victim is screaming in pain as she is being violently assaulted.
- When the women he had abducted had children, he raped the daughters as well, resulting in cases of incest such as with The Mother.
- It's also implied that he raped the grandchildren, too, including The Mother.
- While not stated, it's implied that he also rapes the possible corpses of his victims as well.
- While it is never stated what he does to the women that he kidnaps, it is more than likely that he killed them all since letting them go would be risky as they could try to report the crimes to the authorities, and none of them were shown in the tunnels besides The Mother. Further supporting this are specs of blood and even a bloody handprint found in the rape room.
- A few scenes that take place in the tunnel system also show that he had kept dozens of cages down there, some of which are even below the floor of the labyrinth, likely where he kept all of the women he kept as sex slaves.
- The Mother's appearance and childlike behavior also imply that he neglected the women that he kidnapped and raped, including the daughters. This is indicated by the fact that she is covered in dirt, has untrimmed and darkened fingernails, only seems to be able to say a few words, and is always completely naked, seemingly never even being taught how to wear clothes.
- The homeless man stated that Frank had multiple children that he had sex with. Frank only sexually abused the daughters, as there are no males in the tunnels. This could possibly mean that he killed the male babies, only keeping the female ones for him to eventually rape upon.
- Although he kills himself, it's not because he feels remorse for his atrocities, but because he was a decrepit old man at the time, and he didn't want to go to jail if AJ called the police.
