Effect[]
It inflicts damage to all the adjacent Pokémon in battle, but the user faints upon using this move.
From Generation II onwards, this move's Attack power becomes 250 attack power, and cuts any Pokémon's Defense stats by half or more than half.
In Generation V, it no longer cuts the foe's Defense by half.
In the Mystery Dungeon series, Explosion's range extends to a 5x5 space are around the user, dealing 80 damage to all Pokémon in range, destroys all destructible objects, and cutting the user's health in half.
In Super Mystery Dungeon, Explosion is status move that gives the user the explosion status. When a Pokémon with this status it hit with a damaging move, the Pokémon with this status explodes damaging all targets in range and destroying all items on the floor.
