- For the character from Wano Country, see Minatomo (Wano).
Minatomo-san is a traveling carpenter (in)famously obsessed with repairing any broken door he sees. A native of Wano Country, he left with Shimotsuki Kouzaburou and Furiko 55 years ago and resettled in the East Blue.[3] One of his relatives, also known as Minatomo, remains in Wano.[4]
He originated in the SBS as a joke used by Eiichiro Oda to "explain" an art oversight in Chapter 1 (namely, a door at Partys Bar reappearing intact minutes after Higuma kicked off its hinges).[1][5] Since then, the anime has periodically used him as an Easter Egg (not unlike Pandaman) in crowd shots and the like.[2] Interestingly, he has never appeared in the manga proper, with even an identical carpenter in the Wano Country Arc identified as a separate person.
Appearance[]
Minatomo is a short, elderly man with tanned skin, dark gray hair, and a stern look on his face. He also has a scar on his left cheek. He wears working clothes in varying shades of blue and has a rope tied around his forehead.
Personality[]
Not much is known about his personality except that he is apparently short-tempered and cannot stand broken doors, immediately repairing them when he sees one.[1]
Abilities and Powers[]
Minatomo is a very skilled carpenter, since he could replace the door to Partys Bar in seconds without being seen.[1][5]
History[]
Past[]
Minatomo was born in Wano Country, but illegally departed from there 55 years ago with Shimotsuki Kouzaburou, Shimotsuki Furiko, and 22 other people.[3]
After Higuma kicked off the door to Partys Bar, Minatomo saw the damage and, due to his inability to ignore a needed fix, quickly replaced it in the brief time between Higuma barging into the bar and hitting Shanks over the head with a bottle.[1][5]
