The Wapu Wapu no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to teleport themselves and others from place to place. It was eaten by Van Augur.[1]

Etymology[]

  • "Wapu" is derived from wāpu (ワープ?), the Japanese way of pronouncing the English word "warp".

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

The Wapu Wapu no Mi grants the power of teleportation (瞬間移動, shunkan idō?): the user can warp from place to place instantaneously, as well as teleport other people after touching them.[1]

In battle, Van Augur primarily uses this power to avoid direct combat by repositioning himself. As a sniper, this allows Van to ambush from unexpected directions and maintain a long-range advantage against his opponents.

Without mastery of the ability, the range for warping is relatively limited. The user can warp greater distances with training, though it is unknown whether they can ever overcome the range limitation entirely.[2] As seen with his battle against Bepo, the user must be able to react to incoming attacks to dodge them, meaning that surprises or faster opponents can potentially hit the user before they attempt to teleport away. In general, other weaknesses of the ability, beside the standard ones for Devil Fruits, are unknown.

Usage[]

Van Augur has employed his power to warp himself and his crewmates from a ship to an island in pursuit of an enemy.[1] He has also used the ability to rescue his crewmate from falling in midair,[3] as well as as to escape from an enemy.[2]

Techniques[]

  • Warp (移動ワープ, Wāpu?, literally meaning "Movement"): The most basic application of the ability, where Augur simply warps to another location. It was first named when Augur warped to Blackbeard in midair at Winner Island.[3]

History[]

Augur gained this power at some point during or after the two-year timeskip as a result of the Blackbeard Pirates' Devil Fruit hunting.[4] He is currently training to master the ability.[2]

Trivia[]

  • This Devil Fruit's teleportation ability is similar to the Ope Ope no Mi's Shambles technique used by Trafalgar D. Water Law; however, unlike Law's technique (which has a limited range inside his ROOM and requires him to swap places with another person or object), this Devil Fruit's ability does not seem to feature any limitation yet.
  • This Devil Fruit's teleportation ability is the opposite of the Toki Toki no Mi, as the former teleports across locations while the latter teleports into the future.
  • When the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi's ability was first seen, it was initially believed to allow the user to "warp" themselves or whatever they touch; however, it was later revealed to be a misconception, as the ability is used to push whatever the user touches away at immense speed and force in a split second.
