The Resistance was a team that consisted of heroes that were banished to the Void and rebelled against Cassandra Nova's rule.

History[]

Banished to the Void[]

Throughout the Multiverse, several universes were discovered by the TVA to be dying, so in response, they sent Minutemen to retrieve select individuals and bring them to their headquarters. However, some of these people, including Elektra, Blade, Gambit, X-23 and Human Torch, wanted to try and save their respective universes, so they resisted. The TVA was unwilling to tolerate this and pruned them, sending the heroes to the Void.

Elektra, Blade, Gambit, X-23 and Human Torch came across each other in the Void and decided to work together to survive Alioth, the giant entity that consumed people in the Void, but also to rebel against Cassandra Nova, the powerful mutant that ruled over the Void. The Resistance set up their base at the borderlands and started working on escaping the Void. They were joined by other heroes pruned heroes including Magneto, Punisher, Quicksilver and Daredevil. However, the later additions were all killed by Nova whenever they tried to fight back against her.^[1]

Meeting Deadpool and Wolverine[]

Human Torch went out on a scout mission, and after two days, he came across a freshly pruned Deadpool and Wolverine. Human Torch revealed himself to the two heroes, but they were soon surrounded and captured by henchmen of Cassandra Nova and taken to her compound. On the way, Human Torch informed Deadpool and Wolverine of the Resistance. When they were brought before Nova, Deadpool's actions got Human Torch killed.

X-23 came across Deadpool and Wolverine, who managed to escape from Nova and searched for the Resistance. X-23 brought the two back to their hideout, where they were first encountered by Elektra, followed by Blade and Gambit. Deadpool asked if Magneto was with them, but they revealed he was killed. X-23 joined them, and they explained how they all ended up in the Void. Deadpool then stated that he wanted to join their team and get out of the Void.

The Resistance were shocked to learn that Deadpool and Wolverine escaped from Nova's compound, as they had lost so many members whenever they fought back. Gambit mentioned that Human Torch had gone missing, and when Deadpool revealed that he knew him when trying to motivate the team, they demanded an explanation, so Wolverine outed Deadpool for getting him killed. Deadpool once again asked for their help, and they explained that Juggernaut's helmet could stop Nova's powers. The Resistance saw this as a chance for them to finally get their ending, so they agreed to Deadpool's plan and prepared to fight.^[1]

Fighting Back[]

The next morning, the Resistance, driving in Ol' Betsy, headed for Cassandra Nova's compound. Using Punisher's rocket launcher, they destroyed the entrance and drove inside, where they were surrounded by all of Nova's Cassandra Nova's Henchmen. Wolverine felt that the Resistance would not survive, but they assured him they'd get Juggernaut's helmet as well as their ending.

The two sides charged at each other, and although they were greatly outnumbered, the Resistance were able to hold their own and eliminate many of the henchmen with ease. They managed to safely get Deadpool and Wolverine inside to confront Nova. The Resistance guarded the entrance inside and continued fighting off all of the remaining henchmen. X-23 managed to kill Juggernaut, remove his helmet and get it to Deadpool. The Resistance briefly lost the upper hand, but they still kept fighting and were able to kill all of their enemies. They then watched Deadpool and Wolverine escape the Void as Alioth approached their location.^[1]

Brought Back Home[]

As a result of Deadpool and Wolverine defeating Cassandra Nova and saving the Multiverse, they asked Hunter B-15 to retrieve the members of the Resistance and return them to their home universes. X-23 chose to stay with Wolverine in 2024 along with Deadpool in his universe.^[1] In the Void, an Inter-Dimensional Portal opened up to Gambit as he walked through the aftermath of the battle.^[2]

• Description: Johnny Storm was a member of the Fantastic Four that was pruned by the Time Variance Authority and sent to the Void. He joined the Resistance to fight against Cassandra Nova but during his encounter with Deadpool and Wolverine, all three of them were captured by Nova's henchmen and brought to their compound. During their trip, Storm repeatedly cursed and insulted Nova, which Deadpool then repeated in her face despite Storm trying to stop him. He tried to defend himself and claimed that he would never say any of it, but Nova simply killed Storm by skinning him alive with her telekinesis.

Magneto[]

• Name: Erik Magnus Lehnsherr
• Species: Mutant
• Activity: End of Time
• Status: Deceased
• Description: Erik Lehnsherr was a mutant who possessed a special helmet that provided protection against mutants with psychic abilties. Being pruned by the Time Variance Authority and sent to the Void, Magneto joined the Resistance with his son Peter Maximoff to fight against Cassandra Nova's reign. However, Magneto was killed by Nova who also destroyed his helmet that could have been used against her.

Punisher[]

• Description: Frank Castle was a vigilante, armed with a military-grade arsenal of weapons. Being pruned by the Time Variance Authority and sent to the Void, Punisher joined the Resistance to fight against Cassandra Nova, but fell victim to her.
