Biography[]
Helping M'Baku[]
Coronation of T'Challa[]
When King T'Chaka died, Prince T'Challa underwent his incoronation to be king. Wanting to be king himself, M'Baku arrived at Warrior Falls with M'Bele to challenge for the throne. As the fight started, M'Bele and the Jabari Tribe circled M'Baku while the Dora Milaje circled T'Challa. The fight started and the guards moved closer to shorten the playing field. T'Challa then got the upperhand, giving M'Baku a chance to yield. M'Baku looked up at his people and realized that they needed him, so he yielded.[1]
Wakandans Arrival[]
Later, M'Bele stood by M'Baku's side as Ramonda, Shuri, Nakia, and Everett Ross approached them. Ramonda told M'Baku that T'Challa was killed. M'Baku protested that it was a defeat. When Ross started talking, M'Baku and M'Bele grunted loudly until he stopped. Nakia offered the Heart-Shaped Herb to M'Baku. Surprisingly, he did not take it, instead told Ramonda that his fishermen had found T'Challa.[1]
Battle of Mount Bashenga[]
With Wakanda going through a civil war with Erik Killmonger, the Jabari Tribe joined Black Panther's side, despite originally refusing to join. M'Bele stood next to M'Baku as he announced their arrival. The group then fought against Killmonger and the Border Tribe. M'Bele took down many Border Tribe members until their leader, W'Kabi, finally yielded.[1]
A New War[]
Namor's Infiltration[]
In 2025, a Talokanil named Namor infiltrated Wakanda's borders. Now having a higher role in the government, M'Baku attended a meeting to discuss how it could have happened. M'Baku and M'Bele arrived, instantly berating the River Tribe. One of the members told M'Baku to watch his tone, causing M'Baku and M'Bele to grunt at him. M'Baku sat down, arguing that they should simply kill Namor and get it over with. Later, Shuri was taken by the Talokanil.
When Shuri returned, M'Bele, M'Baku, and other Jabari stood on top of a bridge. M'Baku said that Shuri was saved by Nakia once again, praying to Hanuman. The Jabari repeated his prayer. M'Baku jokingly remarked how he was surprised Ramonda did not banish her. Suddenly, there was a loud noise. M'Baku looked around to see a tidal wave washing through the river. He jumped in. When he lifted his head, he yelled that invaders were coming. By the end of the invasion, Ramonda had died.
In her grief, Shuri was able to recreate the Heart-Shaped Herb, becoming the Black Panther. As the Wakandans relocated to Gorilla City, the warriors went to the Sea Leopard in order to lure the Talokanil. When the enemy arrived, M'Bele, the Jabari, the Dora Milaje, and the Midnight Angels engaged in a prolonged battle. Suddenly, Namora blew up the bottom of the ship, causing them to nearly tip over, but they kept fighting. Finally, Black Panther and Namor returned from their own battle, announcing a truce. In the aftermath, M'Baku was appointed king of Wakanda.[2]
