Sabina Bernivig is the daughter of chemist Radovan Bernivig who was used as a hostage by Madame Gao in order to force Iron Fist to surrender the Da Jue Zhan in exchange for her life.

Bernivig was held captive by Madame Gao. With her father rescued, Gao challenged Danny Rand to a Da Jue Zhan, holding Bernivig as the prize. When it became clear Rand might mortally wound her, Gao demanded that he forfeit, threatening to kill Bernivig. Rand chose to forfeit the Da Jue Zhan and claimed Bernivig.[1]
