Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power is the fifth episode of the first season of Agatha All Along.

Synopsis[]

With enemies closing in, the coven flees under the light of a blood moon to the next ghastly trial.

Plot[]

On the Witches' Road, the Salem Seven emerge, seeking out none other than Agatha Harkness. Lilia Calderu suddenly wakes up, knowing the Salem Seven is in the vicinity. Trying to think of ways to escape, Teen suggests a hexenbesen, only to be met with groans from everyone except Rio Vidal. However, they are soon forced to use this method. As they get prepared, Owl appears, followed by the rest of the seven. Luckily, the coven lifts off into the night sky only to soon be sucked back down towards the road, crashing into Vertigo, but escaping into the Witches' Road Cabin.

Now in the cabin, the coven looks around the room for clues in the next trial and find out it was Harkness' trial for the spirit witch. Eventually, Teen finds a Ouija board and concludes they must play it. Gathered in a circle, they read off the rules with notable ones being not to take one's hands off of the planchet and another to not taunt the spirits. The coven starts asking their question on who the spirit is, only to be shocked when hearing it is "MRS. HART".

Suddenly, Lilia Calderu's hand is forced off of the planchet, causing Harkness to start succumbing to the spirits. When Harkness comes to, she is possessed by Mrs. Hart. However, Vidal, Jennifer Kale and Alice Wu-Gulliver know that Harkness is faking it and is not possessed. Therefore, the group continues on and asks the real spirit who it is. They get the answer of "DEATH", making Vidal laugh. They ask what "Death" wants and are given the reply that they want to punish Harkness.

The planchet keeps forcefully moving around the board repeating the "PUNISH AGATHA" until Harkness takes her hand off. Kale is intrigued by this opportunity and believes the only way to pass the trial is to punish Harkness. As they surround Harkness, she escapes only to be possessed as she runs away. The group start looking for Harkness and find her climbing on the ceiling. The possessed Harkness then drops down and chases Teen before fighting the rest until the lights are turned back on. The group gains their bearings as they see a suspicious cloud of smoke emerging. This smoke reveals itself to be the ghost of Evanora Harkness, Agatha's mother.

An unpossessed Agatha emerges from her hiding place to see her mother. Agatha simply asks why she still hates her. Brutally, Evanora says that Agatha was born evil and she ought to kill her at birth. Evanora also gives an ultimatum to the coven, saying they need to let Agatha stay with her while they finish the road. This causes Teen to get upset at this idea despite Kale being in favor as their only threat is Agatha. Agatha then lunges to the coven, trying to escape, only for Evanora to possess her once more.

Trying to save Agatha, Wu-Gulliver attacks Evanora with her magical blasts. These blasts free Agatha from Evanora's control but cause Agatha to awake, seeing herself being blasted by energy. Out of habit, Agatha starts depleting Wu-Gulliver's energy and absorbing it herself. Teen suddenly sees the Ouija board moving and rushes to it. He asks who the spirit is and is met with the answer of NICHOLAS SCRATCH. Teen yells this name out loud, causing Agatha to stop in her tracks as Scratch's voice could be heard. Harkness then looks at what she has done as Wu-Gulliver's lifeless body remains on the ground. As Teen goes to check on Wu-Gulliver, Harkness leaves. Teen begs Calderu or Kale to do something, but it is too late.

Outside, Teen angrily chases after Harkness to berate her for what she had done. Harkness claims she did not mean to, but soon feels Teen trying to read her mind. Teen claims she just wanted power, which Kale and Calderu agree with, but explain it was all any of them wanted. Teen then vowed that if that was what being a witch meant, then he was out. Harkness chuckled at this, not believing him. She then tells Teen that he is so much like his mother.

Hearing this, Teen lashes out and starts using his powers to control Calderu and Kale. With them under his control, the two take Harkness and throw her into the mud. All watch as Harkness sinks to the point where the mud overtakes her. Teen then throws Calderu and Kale into the mud as well and watches as they struggle to get out. Once they drown, a crown forms on Teen's forehead, one resembling that of Scarlet Witch's.
