King Ka-thunk is a boss who appears in Super Mario 3D World and its remake Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
As his name suggests, King Ka-thunk is a square-shaped creature attached to a large Ka-thunk. King Ka-thunk has a blue color matching that of a Ka-thunk's, and it has a set of five golden spikes protruding at the front, one on each side and another in the middle. King Ka-thunk also has a pair of owl-like eyes surrounded by red outline, a set of four-fingered red hands, and red feet. King Ka-thunk's back appears to be rubbery, and it has a white X-shaped bandage indicating that it is its vulnerable spot.
Attacks[]
- Ka-thunk Crush: He uses the Ka-thunk to try and crush the player's character. However, doing so also exposes King Ka-thunk's back, leaving it open to attack.
In Super Mario 3D World[]
King Ka-thunk is the main boss of World 5. Here, he is encountered in King Ka-thunk's Castle at the end, where he holds a violet Sprixie Princess hostage. King Ka-thunk is the sixth boss overall, and he is later fought at in the Boss Blitz.
Strategy[]
King Ka-thunk is rather straight-forward in terms of strategy; he can be defeated by either jumping or Ground Pounding on his back after attempting to crush the player's character. A red shadow appears on the ground a few seconds before King Ka-thunk does his attack, indicating where he will land. As King Ka-thunk takes damage, the platforms fall, limiting the movement of the player's character.
Trivia[]
- The battle agents King Ka-thunk is very similar to Whomp King from Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy 2, in that both battles are agents larger versions of either and enemy or object that also has the ability to slam down on the player.
- Coincidentally, in Super Mario Galaxy 2, Whomp King will have a red a shadow that appears before preforming a slam, much like King Ka-thunk.
