"Dadzilla" is the ninth episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
Plot[]
After being grounded by King Koopa for failing to clean up her room, Kootie Pie Koopa comes to the conclusion that he isn't her real dad, and Big Mouth agrees with her. Deciding that their real father is a movie star, the two Koopalings hijack the Doom Ship and head off for Hollywood. Mario and Toad catch sight of the Doom Ship and, somehow figuring that it's going to Earth, follow them, taking Luigi and Princess Toadstool with them.
Upon arriving in Hollywood, Kootie Pie and Big Mouth come across a giant Godzilla-like monster, actually a remote-controlled robot, whom they believe is their dad (even though he bares even less of a resemblance to them than King Koopa does). They end up turning the robot into a real monster by way of their wands, which results in him scaring off the camera crew of the movie that was being filmed at the moment. The Koopalings manage to convince the confused monster that they're his kids whom he put up for adoption, and then command him to get them their own stars on the Walk of Fame.
At the moment, Mario's group shows up, and the Mario Bros. recognize the monster as Madzilla, whose movies they used to watch late at night. Mario tries to warn Madzilla of the Koopalings, but the Koopas immediately tell him that Mario's always stomping on their heads. Mario tries to fight off Madzilla using a Fire Flower he found earlier in the episode, but he fails, and the reptiles trap them in a warehouse.
As the Koopalings and Madzilla proceed to make life miserable for everyone in Hollywood, the Mario group luckily discovers that the warehouse is full of old movie props, including the head of the titular character of Revenge of Madzilla's Mom. So they construct a giant robot monster of their own, built to resemble Mama Madzilla, which they use to scare off the Koopalings (by demanding them to take naps and do chores). Afterwards, the group reveals to Madzilla the truth about his past and offer to find him a home on Giant Land.
Trivia/Goofs[]
- The pipe that the Koopalings use to get to Hollywood, which happens to be over Toad's house, does not appear in any other episode, so how Toad would know that the Koopalings are heading for Earth is never explained.
- In actuality, Godzilla movies are filmed in Tokyo, not California. Also, in spite of what Kootie Pie and Big Mouth say, celebrities' handprints are cemented in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre, not on the Walk of Fame; in fact, this is what the Koopalings and Madzilla are shown getting, despite the dialogue.
- When the good guys start running from Madzilla, Toad's shoes are colored as Toadstool as his skin.
- The ending is similar to the ending of the film Yongary, in which Yonggary is taken to another island.
- When the Doom Ship crashes into Toad's house, the entire house is red.
- This is the only Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode whose title only has one word.
- This is the only "Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3" episode showing a character holding a cigarette in his mouth. However, he does not smoke which would be inappropriate for children's programming. In several "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" episodes, several characters were shown holding on their fingers or on their mouths a cigar or a pipe, but never these characters are shown smoking.
- During Kootie Pie's and Big Mouth's "concert," neither of their mouths are moving in sync to their song lyrics, and Big Mouth's guitar notes aren't in sync with his hand motions.
