Donkey Kong Mario vs Super Mario
Not to be confused with Garbage can, Trash Can, or Waste Basket.

Bins, alternatively named Garbage Cans, Trash Cans, or Trash Bins, are a recurring object in Mario-related games. They first appear in Donkey Kong for Game Boy.

Description[]

Bins are containers, usually gray in color, that usually contain items discarded as waste, although they can occasionally contain a useful item. Bins are commonly found in urban-themed locations.

Bins have a few animate enemy counterparts, including Dust Man from Donkey Kong for Game Boy, Bucket Man from Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and Possessed Bin from Luigi's Mansion 3. In Mario Bros. for Game Boy Advance, there is a specific type of bin in multiplayer mode known as the garbage can, which a character can be thrown into and obtain an item from.

Trash Cans are first found in the Big-City. Mario can use a Bin as a small platform to help him reach certain higher areas or pick one up and throw it at an enemy, such as Bowbows, to defeat it. Once a Trash Can hits or is hit by another object or enemy, it falls off-screen.

A Dust Man disguises itself as a regular Bin, and reveals its eyes and feet upon being approached by Mario.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong[]

Garbage Cans have the same function as in Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. They first appear in Level 1-1. A Garbage Can's use as a platform is first demonstrated in Level 1-3, where Mario can activate a yellow Color Switch to drop several Garbage Cans on a bed of spikes and jump from them to move across.

Like Dust Men from Donkey Kong for Game Boy, Bucket Men disguise themselves as regular Bins, but reveal themselves upon being approached by Mario.
