September 3rd: Part 7 (9
Synopsis[]
Pakunoda and Machi begin walking closer to Gon, with the former asking if he knows the chain user and the latter asking if a Nen user with a chain told him to pursue them. A confused Gon replies that he doesn’t know and that they were tracking them on their own, telling himself that he only needs a second to create an opening and escape. Machi asks Pakunoda what she thinks, and she replies that he's good if he's lying, adding that she will check anyway.
In another dilapidated building, Nobunaga first asks Killua why he was following them, with Phinks telling him to keep his answer short. Killua realizes that even a small lie won't work and replies that after the Mafia put a bounty on their heads, various websites started offering rewards for their location. Nobunaga then asks who taught him how to shadow, and Killua says that they were just using Zetsu, adding that he is training to be a professional Hunter. Nobunaga asks who taught him, and Killua replies that it was the assistant master of Shingen-ryu kung fu.
Nobunaga then asks if he knows a Nen user with chains who is a Conjurer or Manipulator. Phinks asks if he or his teacher has multiple chains on his right hand. Killua says that he has no idea and that his teacher is an Enhancer who only taught them the Four Basic Principles. Finally, Nobunaga tells Killua to choose whether he wants to die now or later, giving him three seconds to answer.
Back in the other building, as Pakunoda's phone suddenly rings, Gon tries to make a quick escape, but Machi instantly appears right behind him with her hands on his shoulders, telling him not to try anything. Pakunoda tells the person on the phone that they will be right over, revealing to Gon that his friend came quietly. After Gon, Killua, and the four Phantom Troupe members arrive at the group's hideout by car, Killua asks himself if they should even be there, but then says that the group isn't all that different from his family.
After Pakunoda welcomes them and opens the large doors to the main room, Gon and Killua see seven of the other members. Hisoka pretends not to know them, and Killua does the same for Hisoka, wondering if he might help them. Gon, however, is audibly surprised to see Hisoka and catches the attention of the others, with Nobunaga asking if he recognizes someone. Killua looks around and realizes that they met the other female member before, pointing her out as she reads a book. Phinks asks Shizuku if she knows them, and while she replies that she doesn't, Feitan remembers that she arm-wrestled Gon. Franklin reminds her that she lost to him a couple of days ago, and Feitan points out that Shizuku never remembers anything she has forgotten. Shizuku says that she would never lose to a kid, and Franklin says that she used her right hand. Shizuku is confused since she's left-handed, and Franklin says that it's his mistake.
Nobunaga asks Gon if he really beat Shizuku at arm-wrestling, and Killua says that he didn't know she was in the Troupe. Tying back his hair, Nobunaga challenges Gon and easily wins the first match, telling him to go again as the back of Gon's hand is already bloody from being slammed against the table. As Nobunaga continues to win, he asks the others where he ranks in arm-wrestling within the Troupe, and Franklin replies that he's seventh or eighth, with Machi saying that he's not weak but not one of the strongest. Nobunaga tells Gon that the strongest was someone named Uvogin and that he was probably killed by the chain user.
Killua adamantly reminds him that they don't know who the person is, and Nobunaga sternly tells Killua that he will kill him the next time he speaks like that, slamming Gon's hand down against the table once again. As Gon struggles to raise his bruised and bloody hand, Nobunaga adds that Uvogin was an Enhancer and loved to fight, saying that he would punish him and Franklin for being late. As he reveals that they have been together since before the Troupe formed and that he knows him better than anyone, Nobunaga begins to cry and says that the chain user must have used a trick since Uvogin wouldn't have lost a fair fight. He promises to find him regardless of how many people he has to kill, adding that the chain user probably holds a grudge against them and was recently hired by the Nostrade Family. Killua begins to worry as he puts the pieces together, and Nobunaga says that they may have heard rumors, warning them not to hide anything they know.
Gon replies that even if he did know, he would never tell them. Nobunaga is left confused and Killua stunned, but Gon explains that while he initially thought the Troupe was a group of heartless people, he now knows that they can grieve for their friends. As his aura swells around him and he grips Nobunaga's hand even tighter, he angrily asks why they can't share some of their empathy with all the people they have killed, suddenly slamming Nobunaga's hand down against the table.
