September 4th: Part 9 (9(がつ)()()()()()()()()()4()()()()()()()()()()⑨, Kugatsu Yokka (Kyū)) is the 110th chapter of the Hunter × Hunter manga, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.

Synopsis[]

As the six Phantom Troupe members leave their hideout, Nobunaga asks if the Nostrade Family members were staying at the Hotel Beitacle, but Machi tells him that Shalnark said they checked out yesterday. Chrollo guesses that they moved to another room using a different name. Hearing the group's footsteps in the distance, Melody is unable to make out their words in the rain and tells Killua that she can hear five or six sets of footsteps, also able to tell that they are moving in the opposite direction. Killua is impressed by Melody and says that he thought Gon had good hearing, with Melody telling him that it's her ability.

Chap 110 - Killua and Melody tailing the Troupe

Killua and Melody tailing the Troupe

The two move down from the rooftop and run to follow the Troupe. Melody says that since Kurapika always does things by himself, he must be really desperate to ask them for help. She suddenly asks if Killua is an assassin, and Killua replies that he used to be, asking how she could tell. Melody says that his footsteps are barely audible even though he's right next to her. Killua replies that he's just used to walking quietly, and Melody adds that they are the quietest she knows, understanding why Kurapika would ask for his help. As Killua says that he doesn't really want to help, Melody suddenly stops him and tells him to turn at a crowded intersection, revealing that the Troupe is around 100 yards down the street. Killua asks if she can tell where they are among the crowd of people, and Melody replies that everyone has a unique sound. Killua internally describes her as a machine and adds that he won't need to use Zetsu if they can keep their distance. He begins to climb up to another rooftop and tells Melody to wait there, saying that he will check if the woman they want is among the group.

It's stated that Neon is a Specialist whose ability allows her to predict the future through poems that she unconsciously writes down. It's added that the target's name (aliases are allowed), full birth date, and blood type must be written on the same paper on which she writes the fortune, with an image of the target also needed if they are not present. It's then explained that ominous fortunes will always contain advice and that any misfortune can be avoided if the warnings are followed. It's finally stated that Neon is unable to tell her own fortune.

Chap 110 - Killua describing Chrollo to Gon

Killua describing Chrollo to Gon

Killua calls Gon and tells him that he found Pakunoda, adding that there are six members in total and that Nobunaga is also with them. He reveals that there is someone there who wasn't at the hideout earlier, guessing that he's their leader. Gon asks about his appearance, and looking through binoculars, Killua tells him that he's wearing a black coat with a reverse cross on the back. He adds that while he has black hair, he can't see his face since he doesn't want to risk looking at them from the front. As Killua praises the group's vigilance, Kurapika asks Gon for the phone and then asks Killua about the Troupe's current location. Killua replies that they are heading west near the Motoba Building on Continental Street.

Looking at a map of the city, Kurapika points out that there's a train station nearby and asks if Killua can board the same train. Killua says that he can if it's crowded enough, and Kurapika tells Leorio to head south. After some time passes, Killua says that he is in the last car while Melody is in the car with the Troupe members. Gon says that the group had a car when they caught them, but Leorio points out that there's too much traffic downtown. Still looking at the map, Kurapika notes that the Castor Line goes downtown where both the auctions and the Hotel Beitacle are located.

Kurapika catching sight of the Spiders

As Melody continues to follow the Troupe, Killua tells Kurapika that they got off the train and are at Lipa Station, with the Troupe making their way toward the Saloma Mall exit. After realizing that it's near the hotel, Kurapika calls Squala and warns him that the Troupe found out that they changed rooms. Squala quickly decides to leave and makes sure to bring the (fake) Scarlet Eyes with him after abandoning the rest of the luggage. Leorio, Kurapika, and Gon park outside the station to wait for the Troupe to arrive. Kurapika says that they shouldn't get any closer since the group may detect his bloodlust. He tells Gon that his attack should only take half a second and that they will still be able to dodge it unless Gon provides a distraction. As Kurapika spots the Troupe members leaving the station (with Shizuku wondering where the hotel is), Squala is seen making his escape and carrying the Scarlet Eyes.
