The 27th of August marks FINAL FANTASY XIV’s sixth anniversary! To commemorate Eorzea’s rebirth we will once again be hosting the seasonal event, The Rising.[1]
The To Eorzea, With Love was the 2019 edition of the seasonal event The Rising in Final Fantasy XIV.
The event was started by accepting the Message in a Bottle sidequest by talking to P'obyano at Bloodshore in Eastern La Noscea (X:36.8 Y:26.2).
History[]
After the Moonfire Faire was over, P'obyano asked Warrior of Light to help her collect the garbage dumped on the sands of Bloodshore beach. After collecting the trash, P'obyano thanked them for their efforts and was curious about the presence of a bottle containing a message that was among the collected trash. She promptly extracts and reads the largely illegible missive, which appears to have been written with a dark prophecy. Concerned that another calamity is imminent, P'obyano asks the Warrior of Light to deliver the letter to Bran at Limsa Lominsa, a reporter for the Harbor Herald who specializes in such matters.
Bran immediately identifies the letter as having been written by none other than a certain Wandering Minstrel, and the words themselves as having been taken from the seventh verse of Mezaya Thousand Eyes's Divine Chronicles. Not knowing what it all means, the veteran gazetteer proposes paying the enigmatic musician a visit in Ul'dah.
Arriving in Ul'dah, the minstrel kindly agrees to the interview provided it is conducted on his terms. He recounts that the letter was written before the Calamity, when the minstrel and his adventuring friends were endeavoring to spread the word about the impending destruction throughout the land.
Moved by the music, the minstrel began to play an ode on his harp. As soon as the music begins, the Warrior of Light's mind is taken to a mysterious place. He meets a man named "Naoki Yoshida", who thanks him for his countless heroic deeds. The next moment, the Warrior of Light returns to Bran and the minstrel's side. After the reporter leaves the scene to begin writing his last and best story, the Warrior of Light and the minstrel watch the fireworks display in the skies above the sultanate.
With the job done, the Warrior of Light returns to Bloodshore to share news of all that has happened with P'obyano. P'obyano is relieved to learn that the ominous letter is years old and that no calamity or catastrophe is imminent. She then explains that, in a rather curious development, more message bottles were dropped on the beach after the Warrior of Light went to Ul'dah. She says that if the Warrior of Light was curious about the contents, he could help her retrieve the bottles.[2]
