Detailed walkthrough[]
When interacting with the members of the Boomers inside Nellis Air Force Base during the side quest Volare!, one way to raise Boomers reputation is to find one or more of the Mini Boomers (the child members of the Boomers) moving around the base. Typically, they can be found in or near the children's barracks and the schoolhouse near Pearl's barracks, but occasionally a large group will wander together near Raquel's observation post and the nearby howitzer.
Though all of them have the generic "Mini Boomer" name, each Mini Boomer will have unique dialogue options that can improve or damage one's reputation with the Boomers, which is crucial to completing Volare! They will each react to the player character by playing pretend, acting like imaginary characters from the various skill magazine covers or as references to adaptations of common children's games and play themes in the Fallout setting.
Mini Boomer favors[]
The available dialogue options for each of the Mini Boomers (identified by their pretend name and appearance) are as follows:
- ¡La Fantoma! (girl with blond hair wearing ragamuffin outfit) - rocket souvenir or bubblegum
- Boomers and Targets (boy wearing a Vault 34 Boomer outfit) - rocket souvenir or bubblegum
- Gate Keeper/Toll Taker (girl wearing junior officer outfit) - rocket souvenir or bubblegum
- Mission Control (girl wearing Athlete of the Wastes outfit) - rocket souvenir or bubblegum
- Outsider wasteland tales (girl with brown hair wearing ragamuffin outfit) - rocket souvenir or bubblegum
- Dino-Boy (boy with dark hair wearing ragamuffin outfit) - dino toy or bubblegum
- Red-Brick Kid (boy with red hair wearing ragamuffin outfit) - dino toy or Psycho
In order to access all Mini Boomers' positive dialogue options where they get a rocket souvenir or dino toy, the player character must have at least 7 Charisma when initiating conversation. The negative dialogue choices to give a child bubblegum or Psycho (in the case of the Red-Brick Kid) is available regardless of one's Charisma attribute level.
Note: In order to give Dino-Boy and the Red-Brick Kid their dino toy, it must be the generic dino toy instead of the identical Dinky the T-Rex souvenir. Two dino toys can be found in the teacher's desk within the schoolhouse, behind a Very Easy-level lock.
Once a speech option positive or negative is chosen in conversation with a particular Mini Boomer, that specific child will no longer offer any further interactive dialogue for the remainder of the game.
Notes[]
Backing out of conversation without selecting any special options does not inhibit the player character from speaking to the child in question at a later time.
