The Takrets are the main antagonistic faction of the Enterprise episode "The Catwalk". They are a militaristic alien species.
History[]
The Takrets were an advanced, space-going race. Their militia was corrupt, functioning as little more than criminals by taking possession of alien vessels without provocation and murdering their crews. Three members of the militia, unhappy at what they were being asked to do, attempted to resign their commissions and, on being told they couldn't, deserted. The Takret Militia sent a ship after them.
The Takrets discovered the deserters' ship docked aboard Enterprise in the middle of a class five neutronic storm. Unlike the ship's crew, the Takrets were immune to the effects of the storm's radiolytic isotopes, so boarded the vessel without any protective gear. They found the ship deserted, unaware that the crew and the three deserters had taken refuge in the shielded catwalk and were controlling the ship from there. The Takrets began trying to gain control from the bridge, intending to take possession of the ship. Their captain reviewed the ship's logs and expressed doubt that Captain Archer would have abandoned the ship.
Archer hailed the bridge, confirming he was on board but claiming that his crew were all dead from the radiation and acting as though he himself were dying. The Takret captain told him Enterprise had been impounded and Archer would be charged with criminal conspiracy but Archer retorted that he would destroy Enterprise rather than let the Takrets have it. He had his crew direct Enterprise towards a plasma eddy. Unable to alter course, the Takrets were forced to evacuate to their own ship and leave the area, allowing Enterprise to steer to safety.
