Suran is a minor antagonist in the film Star Trek: Nemesis.
He was portrayed by Jude Ciccolella, who also portrayed Edgar Noone in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Mendelson in House M.D., and Mortimer in Fallout: New Vegas.
Biography[]
Suran was a Romulan commander who supported Shinzon's plans for an attack on the Federation. He pleaded Shinzon's case to the Romulan Senate but was rejected by Praetor Hiren. After the Senate were assassinated by Tal'aura and Shinzon became the new praetor, Suran supported him as one of his military staff.
Suran became increasingly impatient as Shinzon delayed launching his attack and instead brought the Enterprise to Romulus. After Shinzon departed to carry out his plan to destroy all life on Earth with thalaron radiation, Suran's colleague Donatra expressed her concern about the extent of Shinzon's plan and asked him if he really wanted Romulus to be associated with wholesale slaughter.
According to the novelisation, Suran commanded the second Warbird that went with Donatra to assist the Enterprise against Shinzon and was killed when it was destroyed during the battle. The Star Trek Novelverse has Suran survive the events of the film but later be killed by Donatra when he obstructs the evacuation of Neyal. The Star Trek Online storyline has Suran still alive and a long-standing colleague of Donatra decades later.
