~ Grublik the Flogger

Grublik The Flogger is a minor antagonist yet major ally in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. He is an orc slaver and the first Uruk Captain to be dominated by Talion and Celebrimbor. He is used as a spy and traitor in the ranks of the Warchief, Tarz the Knife.

Biography[]

After obtaining the power of the Ring, Talion is told by the Queen Of Nurnen to use the power to dominate the orcs and create an army. Celebrimbor suggests that they hunt Grublik, since he was nearby.

Grublik and his men were held up in an abandoned outpost where slaves were being held. After killing the guards and breaking Grublik, Talion grabs him and dominates him.

Talion commands Grublik to become the bodyguard of the Warchief, Tarz the Knife. To become a bodyguard, Grublik would need to gain recruits and in doing so rise through the ranks. Though the orcs he demands loyalty from resist, he kills the rebels and gains many followers, and a position as bodyguard.

Talion sets up a betrayal mission with Grublik to try and kill Tarz the Knife. Once Tarz arrives, Talion activates Grublik and he attacks Tarz. After Tarz’s demise, Grublik takes his place as Warchief. After the mission, Grublik can be seen giving a speech to a crowd of orcs. At this time, Grublik is at your beck and call to complete missions.

Later near the end of the game, Talion brings his dominated Warchiefs of Nurnen to help him fight the Black Hand Of Sauron’s Forces. Grublik can be seen with the other Warchiefs.

Personality[]

Grublik was a cruel and unjust being who had gotten pleasure from the suffering of others. However, a dominated and later Warchief Grublik gets a change of personality. He becomes a strong soldier and an influential leader. He had finally become respected and for that, became an almost likable character.
