~ Akuma Shogun during his theme, King of Devil. |
Akuma Shogun (In Japanese 悪魔将, Akuma Shōgun) is a major antagonist in the 1980's anime/manga series Kinnikuman.
In the Kinnikuman anime, he was voiced by Yonehiko Kitagawa who also voices other Kinnikuman characters such as The Mountain and Neptune King as well as Lupin II from Lupin III.
In the movie Crisis in New York!!, he was voiced by Hidekatsu Shibata who also voices Wrath from Fullmetal Alchemist and Geese Howard from the Fatal Fury in his TV and movie appearances.
In the PlayStation 2 games, he was voiced by Tetsu Inada who also voices Endeavor from My Hero Academia and Nappa from Dragon Ball Z.
In the Perfect Origin Arc, Robin Mask would be voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa who also voiced Yoshikage Kira in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7.
Roles[]
In the original Kinnikuman manga and its anime adaptation, he initially appears at the end of the Golden Mask Arc during Chapter 187, serving as the main antagonist, being the leader of all of the Devil Chojin behind Satan himself. It is later revealed that Akuma Shogun is the Golden Mask that was thought to have been stolen by the Six Devil Knights and that the Justice Chojin were searching for the entirety of the arc.
During this arc, Akuma Shogun's goal was to kill all Justice Chojin and Kinnikuman in particular, both because they were the group that embodied Silverman's ideology of justice, the person that Akuma Shogun hated and because Akuma Shogun and his underlings were Devil Chojin, the natural enemies of the Justice Chojin.
In Kinnikuman Movie 6: Crisis in New York!!, Akuma Shogun serves as the main antagonist again, draining energy from everyone in New York City and the Justice Chojin in order to revive and get revenge on Kinnikuman.
In Kinnikuman Nisei, he once again is the main antagonist of the Demon Seed Arc. His plan in this arc is to be revived using Meat's body so he remains in the background for the majority of the arc with him only briefly appearing at the beginning of the arc to give the Demon Seed the power up they need to fight against the Justice Chojin. After he is revived, Akuma Shogun briefly becomes the main antagonist before his plans to revive fail and he dies again.
In Kinnikuman (2011), he serves as a supporting character and debatably the deuteragonist during the Perfect Origin Arc with him getting the most amount of fights and being the one to beat the main antagonist of the arc. In this arc, Akuma Shogun's backstory is expanded upon, revealing that Akuma Shogun was a Perfect Chojin, that he is hundreds of millions of years old and is given a new motivation to guide the Devil Chojin into a future where they may rule over the world.
During this series, Akuma Shogun's goal was specifically to kill The Man and the rest of the Perfect Origin aside from himself and Silverman, although he was willing to have both him and his brother erased with the Dial in order to do so. After Kinnikuman stopped Akuma Shogun from killing The Man, Akuma Shogun would settle with just having The Man imprisoned until his death and having him never make anyone else immortal, stopping his reign over the world.
Appearance[]
Akuma Shogun[]
Akuma Shogun's entire "body" is covered in a thick silver armor and a helmet with three horns on it. The shoulders of the armor are wide and thick cylinder-like shapes which can move up and down his arms. A white cape is tied to the back of the armor which is removed for battle. The silver armor is adorned with red knee pads and wrist guards which Akuma Shogun's swords can sprout out of. On the center of the chest of his armor, there is the insignia of the Devil Chojin faction.
In the immediate moments after Akuma Shogun absorbs the Six Devil Knights, his armor will be made up of various design elements of each Devil Knight as well as their faces appearing over the armor. These design elements include Sunshine's crotch and arms, Sneagator's torso, Junkman's crusher on one hand and his boots, Planetman's legs and The Ninja's shuriken badges on his chest. The only part of Akuma Shogun's design that remains unchanged is his helmet and hair.
Akuma Shogun sports long blonde hair that sticks out from underneath his helmet and is one of the few organic-looking aspects of his body. Despite looking organic, the hair doesn't appear at all when Akuma Shogun had a full body meaning that it is just some fur attached to the helmet.
When Akuma Shogun is using Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body, his entire body will shine brightly and gain a yellow tint to it.
When the armor's helmet breaks, underneath it is a golden mask that is his real head and exposes his true identity as Goldman.
Goldman[]
Back when Akuma Shogun was the Perfect Chojin Goldman, he had a drastically different appearance with him having no armor and most of his skin being shown. Goldman has lightly tanned skin with a very muscular build
Goldman wears very little clothes, only wearing a gold-tinted tunic that goes over one of his shoulders with a belt around the waist and a pair of boots.
On Goldman's head is the Golden Mask that he is known for. The Golden Mask has the same fin on top of the head that everyone in the Kinniku Clan has as well as a green Japanese character on his forehead with Goldman's symbol being "金" or "Kin" which translates to "Gold" in English. This mask is very expressive, constantly changing expressions and even having eyes in it. It is possible that the Golden Mask isn't just an article of clothing and is actually Goldman's real head.
Shortly after Goldman left the Chojin Graveyard, he would wear a dark metal chest plate which he would continue to wear when he became Akuma Shogun.
Crisis in New York!![]
In the movie Crisis in New York!!, Akuma Shogun has a slight redesign based on his Akuma Shogun design.
This redesign changes his general colour scheme, changing his armour from silver to navy blue with his arm gauntlets, knee guards and his waist being changed to a dark blue.
All across his body, Akuma Shogun has bright red spikes stabbing outward, being placed along his knees, forearms, shoulder pads and his helmet.
The bright blonde hair that drapes out of his helmet has been removed, being instead replaced with bright green pipes that come out of his back, over his shoulders and back into his chest.
Personality[]
Kinnikuman[]
When Akuma Shogun is first introduced, he is seen as nothing more than a brutal callous leader, not giving any amount of respect to his opponents and not caring about his underlings such as when he murdered Ashuraman when he failed to kill Kinnikuman.
Akuma Shogun is extremely competitive, with just a question about who was stronger between him and his brother being all that was needed to make the two fight to the death and after thousands of years of being dead, he still held a grudge that the match ended in a tie.
Once Akuma Shogun is defeated by Kinnikuman, he becomes a lot more remorseful, regretting all of the actions he had taken and the deaths he had caused and was even willing to die as punishment before Silverman asked him to fuse into the Perfect Mask so they could heal everyone.
Kinnikuman (2011)[]
“ | Am I a depraved Devil? Without question. | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun stating that despite his intentions that he is still an evil being |
By the time of Kinnikuman (2011) and after his defeat at the hands of Kinnikuman, Akuma Shogun is seen to be a lot more respectful of both his allies and his opponents, however, as a Devil Chojin, he is still brutal and cunning, willing to murder whoever he sees fit.
Akuma Shogun holds the utmost belief that immortality is a curse that causes those inflicted with it to become stuck in their ways and wishes it on no one. Akuma Shogun thoroughly believes in the idea of passing the torch, wanting the current generation of Chojin to defeat the Perfect Origin and kill them forever so the current generation is able to forge their own future without being forced to conform to those from the past.
Despite openly hating the Perfect Chojin and wanting to kill them for them holding all Chojin back from reaching their true potential, Akuma Shogun is still no hero, with his loyalty to both Satan and the Devil Chojin faction, a faction of murderers who wish to take over the world in place of the Justice Chojin. He also still opening hates his brother and by extension, Kinnikuman.
Kinnikuman Nisei[]
In Kinnikuman Nisei, Akuma Shogun holds many of the same personality traits as he does in the original Kinnikuman, however, he is a lot more cruel, ruthless and brutal, matching the more adult tone of Kinnikuman Nisei. Akuma Shogun also lacks any of the sympathetic elements of his character, doing actions with more malicious intent rather than impulse.
Rather than just using existing Devil Chojin as minions, Akuma Shogun will actively go out of his way to find those mistreated by society and manipulate them into becoming Devil Chojin with promises of fame and power. When these new Devil Chojin lose their matches, Akuma Shogun flat-out kills them as punishment by using the General Stones that gave the Devil Chojin their power, not even bothering to absorb them.
After Ashuraman loses to Mantaro Kinniku, instead of returning Meat's body as promised, he continued to hold on to Meat's body and attempts to use it to revive himself, despite agreeing to give Meat's body back if Ashuraman and Voltman lost. Something that Ashuraman chastises him for since most Devil Chojin have enough honor to concede defeat after losing a match.
Biography[]
Past[]
In the past, Akuma Shogun, initially known as Goldman, was one of the original Chojin created by the Gods with the hope of evolving, becoming stronger and eventually becoming a God himself. He had a younger brother named Silverman and the two lived together, their lives during this time being mostly unknown.
After the Gods viewed these Chojin as blasphemous to them, tried to genocide all of the Chojin with the Capillaria Rays, however, The Man convinced the Gods to allow him to save a few and train them to potentially become Gods with Goldman and Silverman being two of the ten Chojin chosen to be saved.
These ten Chojin would be trained by The Man in the art of wrestling, the martial arts of the Gods, and would eventually become so skilled and strong that they would be named the Perfect Origin, the first ten members of the Perfect Chojin.
However, once the Perfect Origin learned about the fact that many Chojin survived the extinction and that they would repopulate, the Chojin would start to form a hierarchy of the powerful subjugating the weak and defiling the monuments made by the Gods which led the Perfect Origin to genocide those subjugators, making them learn their place.
After this, the Perfect Origin banded together in the belief that they should withdraw from the Chojin world and form a base in the Chojin Graveyard which they would use to subjugate deceased Chojin and use them to make power for them. After millions of years being stuck in the Chojin Graveyard decided that he should travel to the Chojn world, believing that the "Inferior Chojin" actually had the ability to evolve past their current limits. Most of the Perfect Origin frowned upon this including his own brother Silverman and The Man himself, but The Man agreed to let him go but not before making Goldman promise that he would return eventually and tell him if the "Inferior Chojin" actually had evolved and that if The Man were to ever go off the deep end that Goldman would personally end him.
When Goldman left, Silverman left as well, initially as a plot to convince Goldman to come back early, however, the opposite happened and Goldman convinced Silverman that Chojin could evolve and that he should give them a chance.
The two brothers would travel the universe and teach others their techniques with Silverman even creating the Kinniku Clan, however, one day, the two brothers would challenge each other to see who would win in a fight. This fight would go on and pose a great danger to the world around them so Perfect Origin would send Justiceman to speed up the fight by handing both brothers swords which they would use to end the battle instantly with mutual decapitations, killing them both.
Both of their souls would be stuck in their masks and placed on display as a symbol of peace for all the Justice Chojin. Eventually, due to the hatred because of his battle with his younger brother ending in a tie, Goldman's mask would be approached by Satan and he would make a deal with Goldman, giving him a new body and making him the leader of the Devil Chojin, Akuma Shogun.
Kinnikuman[]
Akuma Shogun would make his first appearance in the series near the end of the Golden Mask Arc after five of the Six Devil Knights have been defeated by the Justice Chojin and just as they were about to grab the Golden Mask, Akuma Shogun absorbs the five Devil Knight that failed to form a suit of armour for him to wear to fight the Justice Chojin.
Once his armor was formed, Akuma Shogun would fight against the Justice Chojin, proving to them all that he is far above them and even going as far to kill Geronimo before escaping, leaving the rest inside of Warsman's body to continue to grow and crush his insides, however, they all manage to escape.
Once outside, Akuma Shogun and the last of the Devil Knights, Ashuraman would challenge the Justice Chojin for the right to get the Golden Mask back to save the remaining Chojin.
Ashuraman would fight Kinnikuman and despite Ashuraman figuring out how to beat Kinnikuman's signature technique, Akuma Shogun would still have him killed for failing to beat Kinnikuman. Just as Akuma Shogun was about to fight Kinnikuman himself, the revived Buffaloman would step up to buy Kinnikuman time to perfect his Kinniku Drive technique.
Akuma Shogun would battle Buffaloman and despite Buffaloman's immense power, he was helpless against the might of Akuma Shogun. Once he was beaten, Kinnikuman returned and upon seeing the beaten Buffaloman, vowed to beat Akuma Shogun.
Kinnikuman would have a long drawn-out battle before seeing the Golden Mask break, making Kinnikuman realise that Akuma Shogun was wearing the Golden Mask. He initially called out Akuma Shogun for cheating by wearing the mask but not before saying that it was his natural face before explaining that he is in fact Goldman and that he returned to life with the help of Satan.
After explaining this, Akuma Shogun teleported all of the Chojin from the life support systems underneath the ring, forcing them to hold it up until they are killed by either himself or Kinnikuman slamming down on the ring. The fight continued, however, thanks to the power of justice and friendship, the Justice Chojins held up the ring long enough as Kinnikuman broke Akuma Shogun's diamond armor and forced Akuma Shogun's body to start to form by proving to him that Justice was stronger than evil.
In an act of desperation, Akuma Shogun managed to hit all nine of the Hell's Nine Point Seal on Kinnikuman's body, however, thanks to the Burning Inner Strength, Kinnikuman managed to survive it and this last act of justice forced his body to form. To counter this, Akuma Shogun summoned the Six Devil Chojin to tear apart his body before becoming his body themselves but Buffaloman knocked them aside before putting on the Golden Mask, becoming Akuma Shogun's body and allowing Kinnikuman to use his Kinniku Driver to finish off Akuma Shogun, finally defeating him.
Akuma Shogun, now just the Golden Mask finally understood that friendship and justice were superior and offered to be destroyed as a punishment for almost causing the genocide of all Justice Chojin, however, Silver Mask asked to be fused together seeing it a way for he redeem himself after his crimes, making a single mask called the Perfect Mask that healed and resurrected all Justice Chojin that were injured or killed during Akuma Shogun's assault. The two would stay fused for a long time.
Akuma Shogun's armor containing the Six Devil Knights would be collected aside from the two pieces containing Sunshine and Ashuraman who escaped when no one was looking.
Movie 6: Crisis in New York!![]
Note: The events of Crisis in New York!! are seemingly non-canonical to the events of the rest of the series.
After his defeat and the loss of his body at the hands of Kinnikuman, Akuma Shogun is left as a spirit who wishes to claim his revenge against Kinnikuman and the rest of the Justice Chojin.
Slowly, Akuma Shogun drains energy from spaceships and satellites that orbit Earth, turning them to stone and blowing them up, killing anyone within the spaceships in the process. He begins to search for places on Earth that contain the most energy for him to absorb and travels to New York City where coincidentally, all of the Justice Chojin (barring Kinnikuman who was travelling to Earth at the time) were at a ceremony for Terryman.
Akuma Shogun immediately begins to drain the energy of the entire city, turning everyone and everything to stone. The Justice Chojin try to fight back but Akuma Shogun pulls them over to his spirit, absorbing them into his newly formed body as he begins his search for Kinnikuman. Sometime after his, Akuma Shogun would hire the Subway Boss and his gang to attack Kinnikuman if Akuma Shogun managed to force Kinnikuman into the subway.
Later, when Kinnikuman has the Big Apple of New York call Akuma Shogun to a wrestling ring perched on the Twin Towers, the Empire State Building and the PAM AM Building, Akuma Shogun arrives to challenge Kinnikuman, who instantly notices that Akuma Shogun is both larger and stronger from absorbing the energy of everyone in New York City.
The two begin to fight with Kinnikuman initially holding the advantage by landing various wrestling techniques on Akuma Shogun, however, he counters by using all of the signature techniques of all of Kinnikuman's allies before using his new technique, the Empire State Bomber, to throw Kinnikuman out of the ring with a broken neck, preventing Kinnikuman to see anything that can stop his fall as he fell from the top of the Empire State Building with Kinnikuman barely surviving by luckily grabbing a tree branch.
Kinnikuman (2011)[]
After sensing that the Perfect Chojin were ready to attack, Akuma Shogun and Silverman defused and used their power to bring back Akuma Shogun's body.
While the Perfect Large Numbers were attacking the Justice Chojin and Seven Devil Chojin, Akuma Shogun would use the opportunity to sneak into their headquarters in order to kill the Perfect Origin and destroy the Chojin Graveyard, preventing anyone from being revived through it.
At the gateway to the Chojin Graveyard, Akuma Shogun would come face-to-face with Mirageman. Akuma Shogun would threaten him, stating that he didn't wish to return only to murder his former allies and halt their control over the world. Akuma Shogun would murder Mirageman after completely overpowering his Hardness Level, completely destroying his body before taking his dumbbell and using it to destroy the illusion preventing most people from entering the Chojin Graveyard.
Akuma Shogun walked through the graveyard, gaining the attention of the Graveyard Demons who he casually slaughtered as he made his way to the Forbidden Mortar. Just as he started to turn it backwards, he was attacked by Abyssman. The two would fight whilst they reminisce about their past together, ultimately, Akuma Shogun would also kill Abyssman by using the Hell's Nine Point Seal and take his dumbbell from his body.
Now that it wasn't defended, Akuma Shogun could turn the Forbidden Mortar backwards, exposing the Chojin Graveyard to the world above and preventing any souls from being brought back to life with the Chojin Graveyard. This allowed the Six Devil Knights the chance to invade and attack the other Perfect Origin members.
Meanwhile, Akuma Shogun would arrive at The Man's throne room, awaiting him. Soon Nemesis would arrive. Akuma Shogun would taunt him about the fact that the two are related, even if very distantly and would inform him that Friendship Power, the power that Kinnikuman and the Justice Chojin frequently use is the future for the Chojin.
Akuma Shogun would then show Nemesis his true plan, showing off the dial which held four of the ten dumbbells given to each of the Perfect Origin. His plan was to fill the dial with all ten dumbbells which would instantly erase all ten of the Perfect Origin, including himself and The Man, killing them and preventing them from even being resurrected.
Soon, The Ninja and Sunshine would appear with three more dumbbells belonging to Painman, Thingman and Crowman which were inserted into the dial, leaving only the dumbbells belonging to Psychoman, Ganman and Justiceman left to insert.
Nemesis attacks Akuma Shogun, however, Akuma Shogun simply states that he has no intention of fighting those who would form the future of the world and throws Nemesis aside before leaving with The Ninja and Sunshine.
Akuma Shogun alongside The Ninja and Sunshine appeared at Japan's National Stadium and came face-to-face with The Man, Nemesis, Ganman, Justiceman and Psychoman and challenged them to a fight. The Man sets up matches with his Perfect Chojin against the Justice and Devil Chojin. Once the matches were over, Akuma Shogun had the remaining three dumbbells and gave them to Sunshine so he could finally erase the Perfect Origin, he does so reluctantly, however, Psychoman reveals that he altered the dial so it would only erase him, saving Akuma Shogun, The Man and Justiceman.
The very next day, after Kinnikuman defeated Nemesis, Akuma Shogun finally was able to challenge The Man to a fight and the two headed to Ayers Rock to fight. During the fight, Akuma Shogun would show how much he had improved, using a small portion of Friendship Power to evolve his Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body into Hardness Level 10: Sharp, allowing him to break through The Man's defenses, beating him once and for all.
After he defeats The Man, just as he was about to kill him, Kinnikuman saves The Man, not wanting to see two long-standing friends who had just repaired their relationship have to kill each other. Akuma Shogun relents but not before ordering The Man to remain locked in the Chojin Graveyard until he dies and to never make a single other Chojin immortal.
Akuma Shogun walks away, heading back to the Demon World followed by Sunshine, Buffaloman and the spirits of the rest of Devil Chojin. After this point, Akuma Shogun is never seen again and is only mentioned. It has been confirmed that Sunshine was made the head of the Devil Chojin faction by Akuma Shogun who, more than likely hides in the shadows, not wanting to act as a major driving force in the Chojin world any longer.
Kinnikuman Nisei[]
Note: The events of Kinnikuman (2011) are seemingly non-canonical to the events of Kinnikuman Nisei.
In Kinnikuman Nisei, Akuma Shogun's backstory is changed to him being the leader of the Devil Chojin since its inception and making him and the Golden Mask two separate entities, instead Akuma Shogun and Satan appear to be the same being, making him be seen as the ultimate leader to the Devil Chojin instead of only being a Devil Chojin leader for a short period of time like in the original Kinnikuman series.
At an unknown point of time during his time as the Devil Chojin leader, Akuma Shogun would kill as many Justice Chojin as he could including having his followers kidnap hundreds of thousands of Justice Chojin, having them fight each other to the death before having the survivors be killed by Akuma Shogun as practice for his techniques. All of these bodies would be used as the foundation and building material for a giant statue in honour of the Akuma Shogun.
Akuma Shogun would try to obtain the Golden Mask to get ultimate power but would be killed in battle by Kinnikuman.
In an act to get himself revived, Akuma Shogun would have his spirit communicate with mistreated Chojin, offering them a better life as a Devil Chojin and giving them a General Stone, turning them into violent and murderous Devil Chojin called the Demon Seed. Akuma Shogun would then tell them the plan to revive him was to grab Meat, who was prophesied as the Child of Knowledge who would become Akuma Shogun's body after 666 days after he woke up from cold sleep, and tear apart his body with each of the Demon Seed holding onto parts of Meat's body inside of the General Palast where no Justice Chojin could enter due to a special barrier which only evil Chojin can bypass.
When Buffaloman agreed to switch from a Justice Chojin to a Devil Chojin in order to get through this barrier, the spirit of Akuma Shogun would appear and grant Buffaloman a General Stone which returned him to the peak of his youth and physical prowess, however, Buffaloman only did this to get himself and Mantaro through the barrier and would quickly discard the General Stone after this to prevent himself from being corrupted.
Once Mantaro and the former evil Chojin, consisting of Hanzo, Ilioukhine, Barrierfreeman, Scarface and Kevin Mask, entered the barrier to fight against the Demon Seed, Akuma Shogun would watch these matches transpire and destroy the General Stones of anyone who failed.
When Gepparland failed to defeat Hanzo, he would use Gepparland's General Stone to break off the horn from a nearby Akuma Shogun statue and launch it like a spear at both Gepparland and Hanzo, impaling and killing them both.
When Meltdown failed to defeat Ilioukhine, he would use Meltdown's General Stone to flip the Izuma Taisha Shrine that the two were in, crushing them both to death.
After all of the matches were over and only Ashuraman and Voltman won their matches, the two remaining body parts would be taken to the rebuilt statue of Akuma Shogun and fed into a part of it called the Demon Womb which would turn Meat's body into Akuma Shogun's new body.
When Mantaro Kinniku and Ashuraman fought in the Demon Womb, Akuma Shogun would grant Ashuraman a leg that is identical to Akuma Shogun's own leg as a sign of respect and to aid Ashuraman in his match.
After a long-fought match, Mantaro Kinniku beat Ashuraman and was ready to rescue Meat's head, however, Akuma Shogun's body, fully formed aside from his head used telekinetic powers to pull Meat's head over to him, going against the promise that when the Demon Seed lost, they'd give Meat's body back.
Akuma Shogun was ready to make Meat's head his own, however, just as he was placing Meat's head on his neck, Ashuraman threw the leg that Akuma Shogun gave him at Akuma Shogun, hitting his arm and cutting it off seconds before the ritual was complete. Akuma Shogun's body started to break and fall apart.
Before his body was completely destroyed, he removed the General Stone from Ashuraman's body, making him age back to his natural age before swearing that he would be resurrected eventually. Akuma Shogun's body would then fully break apart, the shards of his body resurrecting every deceased Justice Chojin in his statue.
Relationships[]
Allies[]
Six Devil Knights & Seven Devil Chojin[]
“ | The time has come that I show the same resolve to you Devils that Silver just showed to his successors. | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun showing his resolve to the Devil Chojin by allowing himself to die like Silverman chooses to do |
As his own personal unit of strong Chojin, Akuma Shogun would originally treat his men like tools, absorbing them into his armor to increase his own strength and even killing Ashuraman for his failure, however, this would change.
Akuma Shogun would eventually learn their true value and would intend for them to serve as the future of the Devil Chojin faction after his death. In fact, Akuma Shogun values the Devil Chojin so much that he thought that they would be skilled and powerful enough to battle against the Perfect Origin, a fact that was proven right.
Sunshine[]
“ |
Akuma Shogun: Sunshine! Sunshine: Yes Sir! Akuma Shogun: Here. I leave the job of using them... To you. Sunshine: Huh!? E-Excuse me for asking... B-But am I fit for such a big job!? |
„ |
~ Akuma Shogun handing the dumbbells to Sunshine, giving him the task of using them to erase all of the Perfect Origin |
Being one of the leaders of the Devil Knights, Akuma Shogun respects Sunshine more than most Devil Chojin, seeing him as the future ruler of the Devil Chojin who would defeat the Justice Chojin and Perfect Chojin.
When it was time to use the dumbbells in the Dial, Akuma Shogun would entrust the task to Sunshine instead of doing it himself or any other Devil Chojin, allowing Sunshine to have the honor of bringing in a new age of the Chojin world.
Even after Akuma Shogun isn't erased from existence by the Dial, Sunshine is still placed in charge of the Devil Chojin faction in Akuma Shogun's place.
Ashuraman[]
Akuma Shogun sees Ashuraman as a valuable pawn to his plan, much like the rest of the Six Devil Knights. When Ashuraman managed to tie his match with Terryman, he was allowed to live even though he didn't win his fight. When Ashuraman lost to Kinnikuman, this changed Akuma Shogun's feelings toward Ashuraman who he would dismiss the achievement of fighting an even fight against Kinnikuman and even finding out how to overcome his signature technique before Akuma Shogun kills Ashuraman and absorbs him into his armor.
By the time of Kinnikuman (2011), Akuma Shogun saw Ashuraman as a powerful Devil Chojin who was strong enough to battle against one of the Perfect Origin. After Ashuraman was defeated and almost killed, he was allowed to remain as a member of the Si DEvil Knights, likely because of his survival against Justiceman, an opponent that Akuma Shogun considered to be a great threat.
When Akuma Shogun meets Ashuraman again after a few decades in Kinnikuman Nisei, he would see him as a frail old man who was a shadow of his former self. When Ashuraman went out of his way to prove how, even in his old age, stuck to his Devil ways, Akuma Shogun would give him a General Stone and allow him to become a member of the Demon Seed, entrusting him with the plan to revive him with Meat's body.
Buffaloman[]
“ |
Akuma Shogun: A Kinniku Driver powered by the Burning Inner Strength... It's been a long time since I've seen that. Hasn't it Buffaloman? Buffaloman: W-Well, I... Back then... Akuma Shogun: Hmph... Don't worry, that's all in the past. |
„ |
~ Akuma Shogun reminding and forgiving Buffaloman for his betrayal |
Even when Akuma Shogun was more villainous, Akuma Shogun viewed Buffaloman as one of the greatest Devil Chojin and even personally revived him to fight the Justice Chojin alongside him even though Buffaloman already lost to them.
Despite his active betrayal and being the one to result in his defeat at the hands of Kinnikuman, Akuma Shogun has let go of his hatred of Buffaloman once he returned to being a Devil Chojin and even going as far as to view Buffaloman as one of the future leaders of the Devil Chojin faction because of his immense power and determination that allowed him to survive a battle against Psychoman and defeat Ganman.
Satan[]
“ |
Satan: Goldman! I understand your hatred toward your little brother. I too hate peace and Justice! With my power, we could clot up the world's justice. Let's paint the Chojin World in the color of evil! Goldman: I don't want your power! However, I do need a body to fight with! |
„ |
~ Goldman's deal with Satan, willing to work for the embodiment of evil |
Akuma Shogun, being a member of the Devil Chojin faction, has expressed his loyalty to Satan in exchange for a body, not minding working with the embodiment of evil.
While Akuma Shogun is loyal to Satan, he expresses and encourages the Friendship Power that Satan despises, whether he knows Satan's thoughts on Friendship Power is unknown.
Enemies[]
The Man[]
“ | A private matter? I know The Man would take that seriously... But I don't know about this stranger. | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun referring to The Man as a different person than who he was in the past |
Due to saving his life and training him for millions of years, Akuma Shogun respects The Man above all others, keeping the same ideals that The Man had held for millions of years even after being separated from him.
It's because of this respect that when The Man becomes hateful and only accepts true perfection while trying to wipe out the Burning Inner Strength from the Justice Chojin that Akuma Shogun actively despises who The Man became, openly asking him to remember who he was before and would even try to kill him with Akuma Shogun even willing to use the dial which would erase all ten of the Perfect Origin including himself just to stop The Man.
After their fight, Akuma Shogun wishes for nothing more than to never meet his former teacher again.
Perfect Origin[]
“ | Chojin were once able to evolve... But you all tried to control and keep the world as is, on the grounds of "creating order", preventing anything from changing. Your "perfect" ideology is nothing but the embodiment of egotism. | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun about why the Perfect Origin are failures |
Akuma Shogun, having spent hundreds of millions of years as a member of the Perfect Origin, he has a close bond to each and every one of them. He views them as his allies who have had to suffer the fate of seeing The Man turn from the kind Chojin he was into the tyrant who wanted to control the world and how they all fell into a rut where they never meaningfully changed or improved.
Abyssman[]
“ |
Abyssman: You sure don't disappoint, do you, Goldman? You beat Mirageman in no time flat. I can tell you're going to be one hell of a challenge for me! Akuma Shogun: Same to you. I feel you're not going to be anything near a pushover. |
„ |
~ Akuma Shogun praising Abyssman before their fight |
Out of all of the members of the Perfect Origin, Abyssman is the one that Akuma Shogun was the closest to besides The Man himself.
Even after hundreds of millions of years apart and becoming mortal enemies that would fight to the death, the two still fully understood each other and shared one mutual fistbump to initiate their fight, not needing a bell or an audience for the two to fight as they did in the past.
Painman[]
“ | Seems like you've already forgotten one dear student's message... The Man! His message to you of being more flexible of what people have to say! | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun reminding The Man of Painman's ideology |
Just like most of the Perfect Origin, Akuma Shogun has an immense amount of respect for Painman. Akuma Shogun was incredibly motivated by Painman, who he could never even damage after hundreds of millions of years due to his soft body as well as Painman's willingness to go against The Man's Hardness Levels and instead chose the power of being soft and flexible, both in body and mind.
One way that Akuma Shogun would show off this respect was by developing Hardness Level 0: Snake Body, a technique that instead of making him harder, would make him soft and flexible, much like Painman.
Justiceman[]
“ | Justice... You think... No, not just you, all of the Origins, even him, think that a God's the highest state of being in this world. But there's a great pitfall in that way of thinking. That is the gulf between we brothers and you all that can never be bridged! | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun explaining why he chooses to not become a God and instead aid the Devil Chojin |
Akuma Shogun has an extremely high opinion of Justiceman, viewing him as someone unshaken by emotions and one of the strongest members of the Perfect Origin in both mind and body, even going as far to say that Justiceman would be an extremely difficult opponent to face.
Even though Justiceman is directly responsible for Akuma Shogun's death by forcing him and Silverman to fight to the death with swords, he holds no grudge against him and Akuma Shogun even lets Justiceman live after he abandons the Perfect Origin.
Nemesis[]
“ | And another is one of your own followers from your reign as Chojin Enma, a Chojin whose incredible potential slipped past even my sight until now. | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun views Nemesis as successor to the Perfect Origin. |
Akuma Shogun sees Nemesis as another ideal Chojin, seeing his tenacity, strength and will as something that all Chojin should strive for and even seeing him as one of his first picks to be a successor to the Perfect Origin.
Being a Chojin of the current generation, even if he is far older than most of his generation due to his immortality, Akuma Shogun refuses to fight against Nemesis even after Nemesis attacks him because he doesn't want to kill any Chojin who could potentially guide the Chojin of the world into higher strength.
Silverman[]
“ | Have you forgotten? The quarrel of Heavenly Brothers between us hasn't been settled yet! | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun explaining to Silverman why he became a Devil Chojin. |
Being his legitimate brother, Akuma Shogun treats him differently than the rest of the Perfect Origin.
Akuma Shogun and Silverman have opposing ideologies. Akuma Shogun believes in sheer strength and offense against Silverman's beliefs of technique and defense which would start a battle which would end in both of their deaths. Even after millions of years, the hatred that Akuma Shogun feels towards his younger brother due to his loss to him still persists.
The two brothers agree on one thing though, that the future should be left in the hands of the next generations instead of those who are millions of years old. This would lead to them temporarily working together to fight against the Perfect Origin.
Kinnikuman[]
“ | I wish they were all from my Devil Chojin faction, but that's not the case... One of them's not just a sharp thorn in my side, he's also my brother Silverman's direct successor... | „ |
~ Akuma Shogun views Kinnikuman as a successor to the Perfect Origin. |
Due to being both a Justice Chojin and the descendant of his brother Silverman, Akuma Shogun truly hates Kinnikuman and wishes to personally end his life.
However, despite his hatred, Akuma Shogun has a level of respect for Kinnikuman, seeing him as the future that all Chojin should strive for, both in terms of his strength and his drive to become stronger.
Kinnikuman's sheer will is so impressive to Akuma Shogun that when he was about to kill The Man, fulfilling a promise that Akuma Shogun held for hundreds of millions of years, it was Kinnikuman's determination and will to stop Akuma Shogun from having to feel the pain of murdering his teacher that was the only thing that stopped him.
Powers and Abilities[]
Perfect Chojin Physiology[]
As a Chojin blessed by The Man himself, Akuma Shogun has immense strength, speed and durability far above most other Chojin who already have the ability to perform superhuman feats.
Superhuman Physical Prowess[]
Akuma Shogun's strength, speed and durability are so immense that all Devil and Justice Chojin are considered to be ants when compared to him.
Akuma Shogun has a Chojin Kyodo (The number given to exactly measure the strength of all Chojin) of 15,000,000 Power, making him immensely stronger than most Chojin in the world with even the Chojin Kyodo of 10,000,000 Power that Buffaloman has being nothing when compared to him.
This number may be far higher now than it was before since Akuma Shogun was able to overpower Mirageman and Abyssman who have a Chojin Kyodo of 22,000,000 Power and 26,000,000 Power respectively.
The only things that have ever challenged him are Chojins using Friendship Power, a power that even the Gods fear, as well as the strongest members of the Perfect Origin such as The Man and Justiceman, the latter of which Akuma Shogun openly admitted to being someone he couldn't easily defeat.
Immortality[]
Additionally, due to being a Perfect Chojin, Akuma Shogun hasn't aged at all since the day that he was made into a Perfect Origin, staying at his peak physical age after millions of years. Akuma Shogun and other Perfect Chojin have outright stated that they are unable to die due to old age, something that they mostly do not like.
Flight & Size Enhancement[]
Other abilities that Chojin have that Akuma Shogun likely has is the ability to grow to be as large as a building and the ability to fly without wings or thrusters, even in the vacuum of space.
Akuma Shogun was able to fly the distance between Japan's National Stadium to Ayres Rock in Australia, a distance of 7000 kilometres in a short amount of time without needing to push himself to move fast.
Selective Intangibility and Teleportation[]
Much like all members of the Perfect Origin, Akuma Shogun is able to render his physical body completely intangible, allowing him to phase through solid objects and people without causing the object or person any damage. While intangible, Akuma Shogun is able to teleport his body to any location he wishes.
Akuma Shogun is also able to force his teleportation onto someone else by shooting a beam at someone to teleport them to his side, this is usually done to take hostages.
Possessed Armor[]
After being reduced to nothing but a mask, Akuma Shogun was given a set of armor by Satan which would act as his new body. This armor is incredibly powerful and durable, being unable to even be cracked by most Justice Chojin teaming up to hit him at the same time.
This armor is completely hollow, preventing Akuma Shogun from taking any damage from attacks to anywhere on his body aside from his head as well as allowing attacks and even entire people to phase through the holes in his body.
By not having a body, makes Akuma Shogun incredibly difficult to defeat in a wrestling match because he cannot be properly grappled since he has no limbs.
Though Akuma Shogun does need this armor in order to fight. Initially, this armor was made up of the Six Devil Knights but after the Akuma Shogun's Golden Mask and Silverman's Silver Mask fused into the Perfect Mask, Akuma Shogun became able to make his own armor without needing any Devil Chojin or Satan's help.
Armor Regeneration[]
If the empty armor is broken in any way, it can regenerate and instantly heal it instantly. The armor can regenerate from either large chunks that are torn off or even if the entire armor is shattered into tiny pieces. Akuma Shogun can use the broken parts of his armor as projectiles that he can launch toward the opponent and batter them with sharp shards of armor to cut them apart.
Akuma Shogun has to put in the thought in order to pull his armor together, if Akuma Shogun is knocked out and his armor is broken then he can't regenerate his armor.
Seemingly the only part of Akuma Shogun's body that doesn't regenerate in any way is the Golden Mask, meaning that if it were to break then it would kill him permanently.
Chojin Absorption[]
Akuma Shogun is able to absorb the power and bodies of the Devil Chojin, something he does to the Six Devil Knights, either willingly or after he kills them. For every Devil Knight that are absorbed into his armor, Akuma Shogun's strength is multiplied. Akuma Shogun gains the best qualities of each Devil Chojin absorbed such as Sunshine's immense strength and The Ninja's skill.
The Devil Chojin absorbed into the armor can also stick their arms out of the armor to grab at an opponent, giving Akuma Shogun six sets of additional arms to grapple an opponent with.
In the movie Crisis in New York!!, Akuma Shogun displays this ability again by forcibly absorbing all of the Justice Chojin, gaining all of the Justice Chojin's techniques in the process.
Initially, Akuma Shogun was required to absorb Devil Chojin in order to form his armor in the first place, however, after the Golden and Silver Masks fused together, the two became strong enough to create a set of armor out of nothing for Akuma Shogun to use.
Life Force Absorption[]
Akuma Shogun has also shown the ability to absorb life force from non-Chojin such as the Graveyard Demons. Unlike his ability to absorb Chojin, Akuma Shogun instead drains energy and makes whoever he drains the energy of fall to the ground, either dead or unconscious, rather than absorbing their body into his.
In the movie Crisis in New York!!, Akuma Shogun is shown being able to drain the energy from inorganic materials such as the entirety of New York City and turn anyone or anything he completely drains into stone. Akuma Shogun uses this ability to form a new body that was stronger than his old one.
Devil Chojin Summoning[]
Akuma Shogun is able to revive the Devil Chojin and call them to his side. This can be done with nothing more than a few words to his deceased allies.
When Akuma Shogun's armor breaks, the Devil Chojin that are absorbed into each shard can form into their own being and aid Akuma Shogun for a short period of time before having to become one with the armor again.
Pain Immunity[]
Since Akuma Shogun is only a set of armor and a mask, his body feels no pain, allowing him to bend and contort his body in any way he wants as well as allowing him to shake off any injury that he sustains such as being stabbed or having pieces of his body broken.
Mask Possession[]
Anyone who wears the Golden Mask that is Akuma Shogun's head will slowly have their body possessed by Akuma Shogun and soon they will act as his new body, being helpless to fight back or take off the mask. If the mask is taken off by an external force then the person will revert back to who they were before they were possessed.
Portal Creation[]
Akuma Shogun is able to make portals in the middle of the air to take him and whoever steps inside to where ever they want to go, this portal will eventually close off with a heavy door that most Chojin can't lift even with their superhuman strength.
Hardness Levels[]
With his Hardness Levels, Akuma Shogun can freely increase or decrease his own density. The Hardness Levels range from Level 0 to Level 10 with 10 being the hardest and 0 being the softest.
- Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body: With Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body making him as hard as diamonds that are so durable that most people who can harm him can't even damage him
- Hardness Level 0: Snake Body: With Hardness Level 0: Snake Body making him as soft as rubber which allows him to escape from holds and wrap himself around an opponent to crush them.
Friendship Power[]
Akuma Shogun, despite being the epitome of what a Devil Chojin should be, is able to use a very limited amount of Friendship Power, the power that empowers a Chojin when fighting alongside or for a friend or teammate, whether they are alive or dead, by using the connection he had to The Man that was created hundreds of millions of years ago.
This Friendship Power, no matter how limited it was, was enough to allow Akuma Shogun to overpower The Man. This vast power was also enough to completely refill the power that Akuma Shogun had lost when The Man drained it from him with him using the rest of the power to amplify his Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body to create something far stronger.
- Hardness Level 10: Sharp: By using the immense Friendship Power in his battle against The Man, Akuma Shogun was able to surpass his previous Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body to such an immense extent that it was able to shatter The Man's Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body when the two clashed.
It should be noted that Friendship Power can only be used during battles where someone feels intense emotions toward their allies and friends, something that Akuma Shogun was only able to do during is battle against The Man. Not even his own brother or followers can bring this out of him.
Sword Creation[]
Akuma Shogun is able to generate a sword from his body, making a sword that sticks out of the top of both of his wrists. These two swords are incredibly sharp and can slice through most Chojin, despite how durable they are. When Akuma Shogun uses Hardness Level 10: Diamond Body, these swords increase in sharpness to the point that they can easily slice through Robin Mask's armor which the swords can't do normally.
Blinding Ray[]
Akuma Shogun has shown the ability to shoot a beam from his head at the opponent's face, rendering the opponent blind. Kinnikuman managed to restore his sight with Terryman's tears dripping into his eyes, whether this was done by Terryman's friendship or by getting Kinnikuman's eyes being washed with water is unknown.
Hell Musical[]
Akuma Shogun has a special ability called the Hell Musical. Used after an opponent is blinded, Akuma Shogun makes spurts of burning hot fires shoot out from underneath the opponent's feet, making them dance around like a musical.
General Stone Generation[]
Akuma Shogun, even after being killed and reduced to just his soul, is able to create powerful stones called General Stones. A General Stone is a small portion of Akuma Shogun's power that he is able to plant inside of the body of a Devil Chojin, granting them immense strength and returning them to the physical prime of their life if the Devil Chojin is old.
If Akuma Shogun views the Devil Chojin who has a General Stone as unworthy, then he can telekinetically rip it out of their body, making them lose all of their power and turn back into an old man if they were before.
The only weakness of the General Stones is that they are fragile and the Devil Chojin using it will lose all of their benefits when their General Stone is broken.
Immense Wrestling Skill[]
Akuma Shogun, through millions of years of training and combat under Tha Man, one of the greatest combatants ever, is a master at wrestling far above most other Chojin including the Perfect Origin, inventing many wrestling techniques such as his Hell's Guillotine, a technique where after throwing an opponent high into the air, Akuma Shogun leaps up and hitting his knee into their neck before slamming them down to the ground.
Akuma Shogun has so much knowledge and experience with wrestling that after Kinnikuman invents the Kinniku Driver, Akuma Shogun is able to accurately identify what technique it is and how to counter it just by looking at the injuries that Kinnikuman received when trying to make and master it.
- Hell's Nine Point Seal: Akuma Shogun has specialised his martial arts style to the point that he is able to hit nine specific points on a Chojin's body called the Hell's Nine Points, these nine points are on the opponent's neck, the palm of the hand, the crown of the head, both arms, both legs, back and stomach. For everyone he hits, the opponent weakens and their thought process becomes weaker, once all nine points are struck, the opponent will die instantly.
Intelligence[]
Despite usually being a straightforward fighter who can overpower most opponents. Akuma Shogun is a cunning and tactical genius, willing to use an opponent's hubris or good nature against them.
One of the best examples of this is how he had created multiple techniques that are seemingly a part of the Hell's Nine Point Seal but are in fact a diversion and are intended to be easy to break out of, lowering the opponent's guard when they do so and allowing Akuma Shogun to shake their hand where the most guarded Hell's Nine Point is.
Weaknesses[]
- Capillaria Rays: All Chojin have an extremely severe weakness to a special type of light called the Capillaria Rays. If a Chojin is hit directly with these rays then they are almost guaranteed to die instantly, having all of their skin melted off. If the rays only briefly hit them then their skin will burn and their body is inflicted with toxins that will kill them shortly.
- Justice: Akuma Shogun's hollow armor will fill with his actual body if Akuma Shogun believes that the Devil Chojin's evil and cruelty are weaker than the Justice Chojin's heroism and friendship. Once his body is formed again, it becomes much easier to attack him as well as the fact he is able to feel pain again.
- Golden Mask: While Akuma Shogun might not have a physical body to attack, his Golden Mask is. If the Golden Mask is struck hard enough then it will shatter, killing Akuma Shogun.
- Lack of Body: Because Akuma Shogun is only a sentient mask, he requires a physical body to fight. Without it, he's just a floating mask. Without the assistance of Silverman, Satan and the Six Devil Knights or any able-bodied person who puts on the Golden Mask, Akuma Shogun has no way to get a body that he can control.
Villainous Act[]
- Akuma Shogun has willingly participated in multiple genocides against the Chojin of the world.
- The first genocide was the one where the Perfect Origin wiped out all of the Chojin who were subjugating the weak and defiling the monuments that the Gods made. This was done to bring order to the world and to please the Choshin so they don't perform their own genocide on a planetary scale.
- The second genocide was the one performed on the Omega Clan because of their discovery and usage of Magnet Power which would have attracted the attention of the Choshin.
- The third attempted genocide was when he separated his Golden Mask from Silverman's Silver Mask, this started to drain the life of all Justice Chojin in the world and would have eventually killed them if not stopped. This was prevented by Kinnikuman and everyone who died was revived when the Golden Mask and the Silver Mask fused into the Perfect Mask.
- The fourth genocide was the one performed on the Justice Chojin, Akuma Shogun would have them kidnapped and forced to fight to the death against each other with the winners being killed by Akuma Shogun personally. All of the bodies would be moulded into a statue in honor of Akuma Shogun.
- While fighting the Justice Chojin in Warsman's body, Akuma Shogun escaped and locked the exit behind him, intending to leave the Justice Chojin trapped in Warsman's body as they grew, crushing their bodies in his insides while also killing Warsman.
- During his battle with Kinnikuman, Akuma Shogun teleported all of the dying Chojin under the ring they were fighting on before shattering their life support spheres. This was done to prevent Kinnikuman from using any of his signature techniques since they involved slamming the opponent onto the mat which would crush all of the hostages.
- In the movie Crisis in New York!!, in order to form a new body, Akuma Shogun drains the life force from everyone within New York City as well as all of the energy of the city itself, turning everyone in the city and the city itself to stone.
- In the movie Crisis in New York!!, Akuma Shogun kidnaps and absorbs all of the Justice Chojin (including Terryman, Ramenman, Robin Mask, Wolfman, Warsman, Buffaloman and Geronimo) before forcibly using their energy to attack Kinnikuman.
- In the movie Crisis in New York!!, Akuma Shogun would hire the local subway gangs to attack Kinnikuman if he ever forced Kinnikuman down into the subway.
- In order to lure the Perfect Chojin into a war, Akuma Shogun would order Ashuraman to sign a peace treaty between the Justice Chojin, Devil Chojin and Perfect Chojin with the intent to not only make the Perfect Chojin start a war but also for the Devil Chojin to break later in life.
- During his invasion of the Chojin Graveyard, Akuma Shogun would kill a large number of Graveyard Demons and would destroy a lot of the Chojin Graveyard by turning the Forbidden Mortar backwards which would kill more Graveyard Demons and souls of deceased Justice Chojin.
- In order to be revived after his death, Akuma Shogun would have Meat kidnapped and his body torn apart in order to act as his host body.

That sense of responsibility that's allowed me to finally be able to use this power, even if I can only use a fraction of it! Behold the power I've spent an eternity searching for! ~ Akuma Shogun calling Ashuraman a hypocrite |
“ | Ashuraman... This little interference of yours is just a mistake, right? You would not betray me twice... Would you? Trivia[]
- Much like most of the characters in Kinnikuman, Akuma Shogun's design was originally a reader-submitted design, with their name originally being Vikingman, this Viking themed design was kept for Akuma Shogun's introductory chapters but was changed and the earlier chapters having his design altered to match his future appearances in the volume releases.
- Akuma Shogun makes playable appearances in the video games Kinnikuman Generations, its enhanced version Kinnikuman Muscle Generations, Kinnikuman: Muscle Grand Prix and Kinnikuman: Muscle Grand Prix 2.
- Akuma Shogun is one of the few characters from the Kinnikuman manga to become an antagonist in a Kinnikuman movie with Akuma Shogun being the main antagonist during Kinnikuman Movie 6: Crisis in New York!!, the only other antagonists that have also done this are Black Hole, Sunshine and Ashuraman.
- It should be noted that Akuma Shogun is the only one of the four to be the main antagonist of a movie rather than a minor antagonist.
- After his return in Kinnikuman (2011), Akuma Shogun became much more popular always ranking incredibly highly, being ranked eighth place with 1307 votes in the 2013 polls, third place with 2595 votes in the 2015 polls, first place with 13578 votes in the 2017 polls, second place with 3635 votes in the 2019 polls and second with 1567 votes in the 2021 polls.
- Akuma Shogun not only holds the highest amount of votes that any character has received, but he is also the only villain to rank first place with the only other characters to do so either being heroes or villains turned heroes.
- Despite appearing halfway through the Perfect Origin Arc, Akuma Shogun is tied with Nemesis for having the second most fights during the arc, both having three fights total (Akuma Shogun fighting Mirageman, Abyssman and The Man and Nemesis fighting Robin Mask, Ramenman and Kinnikuman), beating all other characters aside from Psychoman who had four fights (Psychoman fighting Buffaloman and Springman in a tag match, Planetman, Brocken Jr. and finally Silverman).
- Akuma Shogun is one of the few major antagonists or even major characters to not die during the events of the series itself, the only other exceptions are Kinkotsuman, Skull Bozu, Satan (Whose body was destroyed but he himself can't be killed), The Man and Omegaman Aristera.
- Akuma Shogun is one of the few main antagonists of an arc not to become a supporting character at a later date, the only exceptions to this are Kinkotsuman, Skull Bozu and Neptune King.
- Akuma Shogun is a very very distant ancestor to Kinnikuman, the series protagonist, because Akuma Shogun's younger brother, Silverman, originally founded the Kinniku Clan and is confirmed to be the ancestor of the members of the Kinniku Clan.
- In the Kinnikuman movie five "Hour of Triumph! Justice Chojin", Akuma Shogun is revealed to be the descendant of Shuten-Doji, however, this is likely not canon to the official manga or any other pieces of Kinnikuman lore.
- It is unknown if Akuma Shogun's armor is still hollow during the events of Kinnikuman (2011). While he still believes in the Friendship Power which caused his body to form and his body is shown bleeding from his chest, arms and legs, however, his original body was torn apart and he is shown to bleed during moments where it is confirmed that his body is hollow so it is unknown.
- The first part of the name "Akuma Shogun" is a direct translation of the word "Devil" in Japanese, indicating the faction he is a part of, and the second half of his name is a military rank used in Japan a long time who served the Emperor who in this case would refer to Satan himself.
- It can be argued that Akuma Shogun is a deuteragonist of the Perfect Origin Arc of Kinnikuman (2011), not only does he have a personal connection to the main antagonist, he also pushed into motion the Devil Chojin's invasion of the Perfect Chojin which takes up a large portion of the arc and he also is the one who defeated the main antagonist of the arc.
- Despite being one of the series' most popular and recognisable antagonists from the original manga, Akuma Shogun also has some of the fewest appearances in the original manga series with him only appearing for 21 chapters and being one of the only antagonists to never appear in any other arcs, the only other antagonists to do so are the Five Fated Princes, however, most of them were in more chapters than Akuma Shogun was and the arc they were introduced in was the last arc of the original manga.
- In the original manga, Akuma Shogun's time as the leader of the Devil Chojin is extraordinarily short, only lasting a few hours in the series itself but Kinnikuman Nisei, the sequel series acts as if Akuma Shogun had always been the leader of the Devil Chojin since the factions founding many years before the event of the original Kinnikuman manga. Kinnikuman (2011) would fix this error and expand upon Akuma Shogun's backstory when he was Goldman.
