The Mountain is a minor antagonist in the anime/manga series Kinnikuman.
He makes his first appearance as one of the main antagonists during the Seven Devil Chojin Arc where he would be killed, later he would be revived and serve as a minor ally during the Perfect Origin Arc where he would be killed again.
In Japanese, during the first Kinnikuman anime, The Mountain would be voiced by Yonehiko Kitagawa who also voices other Kinnikuman characters such as Akuma Shogun and Neptune King as well as Lupin II from Lupin III.
In the Perfect Origin Arc, The Mountain would be voiced by Mitsuaki Kanuka who also voiced Mushroom World, the Great Mushroom World and Soujiki Grumer in Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger.
Personality[]
The Mountain is a proud fighter, never willing to give up during a fight. When Strong the Budo tried sparring The Mountain by turning him human, The Mountain fought back, choosing to die with dignity than live in disgrace.
Just like the other Seven Devil Chojin, The Mountain will always try to take his opponent down with him, ending them when he is near death.
Biography[]
Past[]
The Mountain's past is mostly unknown, what is known is that The Mountain made a deal with Satan in exchange for power, becoming a Devil Chojin and would be trained by the Six Devil Knights until he and the rest of the Seven Devil Chojin were sealed away.
Kinnikuman[]
The Mountain would make his first appearance after Kinnikuman would accidentally free the Seven Devil Chojin and they attack Warsman before the Devil Chojin would try to fight Kinnikuman to prove how powerful they were. When Kinnikuman refused, they attacked Meat, splitting his body into pieces, with The Mountain getting Meat's waist, which could be brought back together, however, if they stayed apart for 10 days then he would die.
The Mountain would fight against Terryman with The Mountain holding an advantage for most of the fight due to his weight and rock-hard body, however, once Terryman hears the news about the deaths of Wolfman, Robin Mask and Warsman and was empowered to beat down The Mountain. The Mountain tried to crush Terryman, however, he lifted him up and performed a brainbuster to finish off The Mountain. The force of this attack weakened the supports of the ring, The Mountain tried to stop Terryman from leaving the ring so they would both fall to their deaths, however, only The Mountain fell with Terryman surviving the encounter.
Despite being dead, The Mountain and the other deceased Devil Chojin had subjected Kinnikuman to the Blood Bind during his battle with Atlantis, preventing him from fighting at full strength and leaving him open to Atlantis' attacks. It wouldn't be until Terryman and Brocken Jr. would enter the spirit realm to attack the deceased Devil Chojin, stopping the Blood Bind.
Kinnikuman (2011)[]
Once the Perfect Chojin appeared, the Seven Devil Chojin would be sent out to combat them with The Mountain fighting against Strong the Budo, trying to sneak up on him by camouflaging himself as the surrounding mountains.
The two would fight with Strong the Budo overpowering The Mountain and soon delivering repeated chops to The Mountain's head, leaving a scar on his face. The Mountain would try to leap and drop his full weight onto Strong the Budo, however, Strong the Budo would deliver a powerful punch, leaving a massive crater on The Mountain's stomach before he chops of both of his legs with his hand and delivers a brainbuster that destroys half of The Mountain's face.
Strong the Budo commends The Mountain's determination and gives him a pardon by offering to turn him into a human rather than killing him, The Mountain refuses and still fights, destroying the ring so both he and Strong the Budo would fall to their death, however, just like with Terryman, Strong the Budo survived the fall.
Kinnikuman Nisei[]
Note: The events of Kinnikuman (2011) are seemingly non-canonical to the events of Kinnikuman Nisei
Sometime after his death, The Mountain's hatred would catch the attention of Satan and he would allow The Mountain to be revived without Lifeforce Orbs if The Mountain raised his children to crush the next generation of Justice Chojin.
The Mountain would be revived and have a son named Volcano who he would train to try and kill Justice Chojin. This would eventually result in Volcano fighting Terry the Kid in the same ring that Terryman and The Mountain fought in with the two watching their sons fight each other with Terry the Kid winning, much to The Mountain's annoyance.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Chojin Physiology: As a Chojin granted strength by Satan, The Mountain has immense strength, speed and durability far above most other Chojin who already have the ability to perform superhuman feats. Other abilities that Chojin have that The Mountain likely has is the ability to grow to be as large as a building and the ability to fly without wings or thrusters, even in the vacuum of space.
Trivia[]
- During the first few chapters after The Mountain was introduced, he was completely mute and lacked a mouth on his design. The Mountain's design would change to have a mouth and he would begin to speak in chapter 141, fourteen chapters after he was first introduced in the manga.
