The original version of the attraction opened inside the former World Chorus building in October 2011.[4]
The inside is practically unrecognizable from its previous usage. Stone walls, ornate carved columns and cornicing, eight beautiful backlit stained glass windows and eight crystal artifacts representing each princess line the queue. The lighting is subtle yet certainly high-tech: the torches on the walls dance in a realistic flicker, the artifacts are lit by fiber optics and change color. Particularly stunning is the flower for Rapunzel, who rightly won the eighth spot over Mulan, which bursts into golden light from within just as in the film. A long wait it may have, but at least guests are now warm, inside and surrounded by high-quality Disney design work.
Characters[]
One Disney Princess is meetable every day from the selection of Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine, Ariel, Rapunzel and Tiana. It is always randomized, and guests will not know who they are meeting until they reach the top of the queue.
Disneyland version[]
At the original Disneyland, it is known as Royal Hall, located in Fantasy Faire, and opened in March 2013.
Characters[]
Normally, three Princesses are meetable a day, with the selection always being randomised.
Standard selections include Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Princess Aurora, Jasmine, Ariel, Tiana, and Elena.
On some occasions, a guest may see a more rarer character, such as Pocahontas or pseudo-Princesses such as Anna and Elsa.
Magic Kingdom version[]
At the Magic Kingdom, a dedicated Princess section opened up in the Toontown Hall of Fame in October 2004 due to heavy demands of guests wanting to meet the Disney Princesses. Following the closure of Mickey's Toontown Fair, the princesses moved to Town Square Theater until the opening of their own standalone meet-and-greet - Princess Fairytale Hall, in September 2013, in the space formerly occupied by Snow White's Scary Adventures.
Guests enter through a tournament tent structure and walk past elaborate cut stone walls and stained glass windows featuring scenes and characters from favorite Disney Princess films. The guests then enter into the Royal Gallery, where portraits of the Disney Princesses align the walls, as you wait to be greeted by a Princess.
According to the Hall’s storyline, the hall is a gift from the King to Cinderella and acts as a place where she and other princesses can greet subjects.
Characters[]
Four Princesses, two per room, are meetable every day. As of 2024, the left room is home to Cinderella and normally Elena, although another Princess may replace her at times. The right room is normally home to Tiana and Rapunzel, although sometimes another Princess may replace either.
Normally, the reason for why the same characters are meetable is because the other Princesses are found at their own meet-and-greet locations throughout Magic Kingdom and the rest of the resort.
Additional Character History[]
From September 2013 through April 2014, Cinderella and Rapunzel each shared a reception room with a visiting Princess including Aurora, Snow White, Tiana, Jasmine, or Mulan.[5]
From April 20, 2014 to June 16, 2016, guests could meet Anna and Elsa in one room while Cinderella and Rapunzel could be greeted in the other.[6]
Beginning June 17, 2016, Cinderella does meet-and-greets alongside Aurora while Rapunzel shares her room with Tiana.[7][8]
Starting November 24, 2016, Elena began doing meet-and-greets alongside Cinderella.[9]
Hong Kong Disneyland version[]
Hong Kong Disneyland featured a nearly identical attraction, named simply Royal Princess Garden (Traditional Chinese: 公主皇室庭園), temporary located at Plaza Grounds in Main Street, U.S.A., until its closure on 21 June 2019.[10]
It has been relocated inside Castle of Magical Dreams at Fantasyland named The Royal Reception Hall, as part of its 15th anniversary celebration.
