X is for Xanadu

X is for Xanadu is the twenty-fourth episode of season 2, and the fiftieth episode overall of the TV series.

Plot[]

Phobos returns to Meridian and began to conquer it with his new powers, winning battle after battle, ending the war for Meridian in his victory, resulting in him renaming the Seal of Nerissa the "Scepter of Phobos". While the Guardians were trying to stop him, Phobos turned Meridian into an evil kingdom again.

Meanwhile, trapped inside the Seal, Nerissa critiqued Phobos's plans, causing the old Guardians and Elyon (who had reabsorbed some of her power thanks to Yan Lin's tutelage) to turn against her. The two air Guardians stopped the conflict and urged the women to unite in harmony, as it is the only way they will be able to escape and assist those who side against the corrupt prince.

In the B-story, Hay Lin had to complete an art project on Xanadu, her vision of paradise, but came down with a case of "painter's block". To make things even more complicated, Hay Lin found out that one of the judges is Leelee Quinones, her favorite artist!

Possible mistakes[]

• At one point of the battle between Phobos and the Guardians, Will's skirt was pink instead of teal.

Trivia[]

• Every second-season episode has a clear focus on one of the five main characters. This episode is one of 4 in the season to focus on Hay Lin.
• Kadma is the only member of C.H.Y.K.N. to not have any speaking lines.
• Phobos was probably referencing the film Apocalypse Now when he said "I love the smell of despair in the morning". This is the second such occurrence in the series, as Tridart said a similar (but not identical) line in N is for Narcissist.
