Queen Hisstocrat is a boss in the 2013 game Super Mario 3D World. She was fought in the level, "Hisstocrat Returns," despite Hisstocrat not being present. She is later fought again in, "Boss Blitz," with her husband, Hisstocrat.
Appearance[]
Queen Hisstocrat[]
Queen Hisstocrat appears as a giant pinkish-purple snake with a big snout and cartoony yellow eyes. She has two small eyelashes and two sets of dull fangs. Her underbelly is a pleasant pig pink, and she wears a pink robe with a yellow gem. She also has a small silver crown with a cross-bandage underneath it. This is where Mario must attack her.
Servants[]
Her servants are thinner, smaller snakes of the same color. These snakes have plates on their heads that Mario can use to climb to Queen Hisstocrat's weak spot. These snakes also fool Mario into thinking that the plates aren't damaged so they can bite him.
Personality[]
While not explored in the game, her personality is clearly very aggressive or cruel as she attempts to kill Mario on-sight. She does show care for her husband as she cries if he is hurt and vise-versa.
Gameplay[]
Mario arrives to her island where her boss battle commences. She first digs down into the earth and spews fireballs all over the arena, Her servant serpents then hold plates for Mario to stand on, and they also attempt to bite Mario. Some plates have cat bells on them which Mario can use to climb the servants. He then has to jump on the queen's head. This cycle repeats two more times, except now Queen Hisstocrat can breathe fire at you.
This same gameplay is reused for the second battle including her, the only difference if that Hisstocrat is also present.
Trivia[]
- Hisstocrat is a mix of the words "hiss," and , "aristocrat."
- The sound Queen Hisstocrat makes when summoning her snake minions sounds similar to the Fantastic Flute from Wario Land 3. Both sounds are based on a melody stereotypically associated with snake charmers.
- The Hissocrats are likely inspired by the eight-headed snake of Japanese folklore, Yamata no Orochi, additionally suggested by fact that their minions are internally referred to as "Tentacles".
