~ Mangold defending her lover, Alex Zorgen. |
Donna Mangold, AKA Paige Miller, is the secondary antagonist in Season Ten of Criminal Minds. She is the partner of Alex Zorgen and the co-leader of his human trafficking ring.
She is portrayed by Melora Walters, who also portrayed Laurel Linwood in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Biography[]
In 1993, Donna became Alex's first victim when he kidnapped her. Alex then proceeded to repeatedly rape and torture her, and forcibly renamed her "Paige Miller", brainwashing her into using this name. Eventually, she developed Stockholm's Syndrome, becoming submissive to Alex and assisting him in running his sex trafficking ring, which sold kidnapped women to serial killers. She also gave birth to Alex's son Kyle, who grew up to join the ring.
X[]
At the end of the episode, Donna is seen in a van being driven by Alex, and attracts the attention of a nearby woman by asking for directions. When the woman gets closer, Kyle pulls her into the van and Alex drives away. The woman is then shown being put up for auction on Alex's site. It's also mentioned that the episode's main antagonist Steven Parkett bought his victims from the ring.
Protection[]
After Alex discovers that Kate Callahan is getting close to discovering the ring during the ongoing investigation into Parkett, he plots revenge on her. As a result, Donna and Kyle are sent to abduct her daughter Meg and Meg's friend Markayla Davis. Donna approaches Meg and Markayla after Kyle (posing as a teenage boy) tells them that she will pick them up for their "date". Meg and Markayla get in the van, both failing to notice Donna's sinister stare just before she drives off.
The Hunt[]
Meg and Markayla become increasingly suspicious as Donna refuses to answer their questions, and begin trying to escape only to be knocked out by Kyle. Donna brings Meg and Markayla to Alex, but Markayla jumps out and runs away when Donna opens the car. Alex and Kyle pursue her, but only Alex returns, having killed Kyle out of frustration after an argument. When asked, Alex claims that they killed Markayla and Kyle is disposing of the body.
Later, Alex and Donna dye and cut Meg's hair to hide her identity, and Donna takes her photo and puts it on their website, where she is bought by serial killer Colin Dupley. However, mere hours later the BAU are able to identify Alex and Donna by interviewing one-time buyer Miles Hendrick, and raid Alex's house, arresting both Alex and Donna. Donna is initially uncooperative during her interrogation, but is shown a photo of Kyle's corpse, and informed that Alex killed her. Distraught, Donna breaks down and confesses Meg's location, and is last seen giving the BAU the names of the ring's various buyers.
Trivia[]
Donna is inspired by Colleen Stan, a woman who was kidnapped, repeatedly raped, and held captive for years for a couple while developing Stockholm syndrome, until she escaped and called the police. The husband, Cameron Hooker, was convicted and imprisoned, while the wife, Janice, who was also a victim of rape and abuse, was released.
