Crocodine is a major protagonist of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. He is the leader of the Furfang Legion.
In Japanese, he was voiced by Banjō Ginga (who also voiced Lord Nightmare, Souther, Heihachi Mishima, Gihren Zabi, Captain Morgan, Daniel J. D'Arby, and Odie O'Bright) in the 1991 anime and Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai - Destroy!! The Reborn 6 Commanders and Tomoaki Maeno (who also voiced Squalo and Líf) in the 2020 anime. In English, he is voiced by Jason Simpson the 2020 anime.
Personality[]
Crocodine is an honorable loyal warrior that prefers to fight fairly and dislikes dishonorable tactics and help from others when fighting. His qualities made him amongst the most favored members of the Dark Army, as Hyunckel and Baran respected him above all the other members of the Six Legion Commanders.
He also is very prideful, swearing revenge towards Dai after his first defeat to the point that he is willing to accept dirty tricks from Zaboera. However, after being disgusted by his action, Crocodine defected from the Dark Army and become Dai's friend, assisting him in defeating Vearn.
Biography[]
After the defeat of Hadlar on The Island of Delmurin, Hadlar sent Crocodine to look for and kill Dai. Eventually, Dai and Pop were tracked down by Crocodine in the Magic Forest. At first due to Pop fleeing the fight, Crocodine had the upper hand, but Pop and Marm soon returned to help Dai fighting against Crocodine. With their help, Dai was able to blind one of the eyes of Crocodine, forcing the Beast King to retreat.
Back to his hideout, Crocodine encountered Zaboera, who offered help as the Ghost Bishop kidnapped Dai's adoptive grandfather, Brass, and had Crocodine to use him. The Beast King then reluctantly agreed.
When Dai, Pop and Marm arrived at the kingdom of Rosmos, Crocodine lead his army to the kingdom and invade it. In order to get Dai to fight him, he threatened to kill King Rosmos. Ater avoiding Dai's spell, Crocodine released Brass, who Dai was unwilling to hurt. However, Pop was eventually able to free Brass from the control of the Demon Army, the power of the Dragon Knight awakened within Dai, and with this power, Dai easily slashed and fatally wounded Crocodine, who bade farewell to the heroes before plummeting off the castle to his demise.
Despite this, Crocodine is eventually revived by Zaboera. However, Crocodine defected and saved Dai from a strike from Hyunckel, marking as Crocodine's redemption. Crocodine, together with Hyunckel, who later also redeemed, then assisted Dai in defeating the Demon Army.
