Appearance[]
As one of Watcher's Shadows, the samurai's appearance may not directly reflect that of his Heroic Spirit self.[2] He is an older man wearing an outfit that gives him an appearance reminiscent of a Japanese temple.[1]

The samurai is able to deduce Richard I's potential in combat from viewing him.[1]
Role[]
Fate/strange Fake[]
The samurai is the fifth Shadow to appear, telling Sigma that the Shadows have not manifested as Heroic Spirits. They are unable to utilize Noble Phantasms, lacking any physical implements, even as trivial as a chopstick.[3] After the incident with No Name Assassin and the appearance of Richard I, the samurai warns him not to fight Richard at that time, confusing Sigma with the notion that he may at some point stand a chance against the Servant.[1]
Abilities[]
The samurai, as one of Watcher's Shadows, is not being manifested in the capacity of a Heroic Spirit. His presence is not like that of a Servant, but rather something directly manifested within the brain of the Master of Watcher through the Skill Watcher.[1][4] He has no ability to interact with the physical world, lacking abilities like Noble Phantasms or the ability to wield a weapon.[5] Like Servants, he has been granted knowledge of the modern world by the Holy Grail, and he is able to impart any knowledge observed by Watcher.[3]
