The NueWP (ぬえ?) is a character appearing in Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Background[]
The Nue is a creature seeped in Japanese folklore, much like Beni-enma, that is often compared to a Chimera. This particular individual is a composite of three Spirits, initially introduced as Moneyed Monkey (猿長者, Saru Chōja?), Chief Snake (蛇庄屋, Hebi Shōya?) and Magistrate Tiger (虎名主, Tora Nanushi?).
In truth, Moneyed Monkey is the same monkey from the folktale of The Crab and the MonkeyWP, who later consumed Snake and Tiger when they were nameless Spirits and now leads them as the dominant alter ego of Nue.
Appearance[]
It is explicitly stated to be composed of a monkey's head, a tiger's body and a snake's tail, however its appearance in Fate/Grand Order is more suggestive of a large black ape, bi-pedal and hunched over, with a long draping mane and huge front claws. It bears Monkey's mask, signifying him as the leading personality.
When separated into their individual components, they are able to appear human-like while donning masks of their respective animals.
It utilizes the form of Taketori no Okina to manipulate Beni-enma.
Personality[]
Nue is a being consisting of three distinct personalities; the Monkey, the Tiger, and the Snake. Monkey is the lead personality of Nue, he is clever and cruel, and loves targeting vulnerable individuals. He takes joy in taking advantage of others and is cruel and abusive to the other two components. In the persona of Moneyed Monkey he would use friendliness and kind words to attempt to manipulate others to his advantage.
Tiger was once violent and monstrous, but over his time as Magistrate Tiger has mellowed and come to feel sorry for the victims of Monkey due to the kindness Beni-Enma had shown him and attempted to stop eating meat altogether, though can lapse back into violent behavior. He is typically soft-spoken, and talks slowly with pauses between phrases.
Snake is the most energetic and talkative of the three but lacks the cleverness of Monkey and thus over speaks about secrets or plans. While he himself admits to not having any reason to side with Chaldea and the Enma-Tei, he has grown resentful of how he was treated by monkey and admits to being vulnerable to acts of kindness as well. Especially if they are from a handsome man, which Snake is quite vocal about his attraction to.

Sparrow's Inn Activity Log : Chronicles of the Prospering Enma-Tei[]
Nue began rooming at the Enma-Tei 500 years ago, having separated into three individuals; Moneyed Monkey, Magistrate Tiger, and Chief Snake. Through this infiltration they were able to set up several wards keeping renowned Japanese monster slayers from entering the Enma-Tei to preserve their own safety. At some point after, Monkey proceeded to take on the guise of Taketori no Okina and take another room at the Enma-Tei. At the end of his stay as Taketori, he claimed that the five treasures given to Kaguya, which he had brought with him, had been stolen.
The fake Taketori demanded reparations for the stolen items after no culprit could be found for the theft, but allowed Beni-enma time to make up the money that would be required, though with hefty interest. This was so that Nue could use the declaration that a thief worked at the Enma-Tei to stop new guests from staying, and use Beni-Enma's honor and naivete against her in order to steal the Enma-Tei for himself with his outrageous demands while also empowering himself with the gratitude from the offering box.
When his deception was uncovered by Chaldea, Monkey merged once again with Tiger and Snake to become Nue, and attempted to destroy the inn's shrine in order to cripple it permanently. However, he is ultimately defeated when Tiger and Snake both rebel and split away from Nue, leaving only Monkey behind.
Abilities[]
Nue is able to split into its three component parts, the Monkey, the Tiger, and the Snake, each taking on a humanoid form wearing a mask of their respective animal. Additionally, it has been shown to be able to make illusory copies of its components, and sufficient knowledge of magecraft to set up potent wards when provided with the necessary time and energy.
In combat, Nue fights with its long claws. It is also able to focus its defensive efforts to completely evade certain specific forms of attacks. Additionally, each of its three components are able to cast their own form of curse. Monkey can drain the energy of those who attack Nue, Tiger can lessen the health of those Nue attacks, and Snake can inflict a potent poison on Nue's foes.
