Hope (ホープ?) is a fairy of the Wing Clan appearing in the English Lostbelt in Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Background[]
Known as the Nameless fairy (名なしの妖精?), she was a fairy who lost her purpose, thereby losing her name.[1]
Personality[]
A fairy who is gentle and kind. She cares about others, but is weak and submissive. Tired of her role in the outside world, she goes into the forest and loses both her name and purpose. For that reason, she is regarded as someone unnecessary and abused by other fairies. Even so, she does not lose her smile.
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Fae Round Table Domain: Avalon le Fae[]
The nameless fairy serves as Ritsuka, Tristan, Artoria’s caretaker during their stay in Cornwall. Upon learning the truth about her, the group slay the beasts threatening her home in the forest. Artoria then sets up a barrier to ward off any future beasts, while Ritsuka and Tristan return to the village. After she’s done, she suggests to the nameless fairy to find a new place to live or a new purpose. The fairy rejects her suggestions, but she agrees with another suggestion of Artoria’s that they both agree to keep secret. However, after Artoria leaves, the fairy begins the process of becoming Moss.[1]
When the fairies start fighting each other over who gets Ritsuka, she brings the group into the forest under the guise to help them escape. While escaping, Artoria wonders if it’s alright for the fairy to help them, as she can’t go back to the village anymore. The latter was fine with it, her home outside the village is now safe from the beasts thanks to Artoria. She starts mumbling to herself while running. Once they near the forest’s exit, the nameless fairy collapses and writhes in pain. Artoria tries to give help, but the nameless fairy suddenly acts violently. As the Moss transformation progresses, she laments about being alone for hundreds of years, being forced to do things she can’t do while receiving no help whatsoever. She reveals her intention, desperately wanting the group all to herself. She transforms into Moss, however, forcing the group to fight her. But they find themselves unable to finish it off when it seems to talk to them. Oberon instead finishes it off, as an act of mercy.[1]
After completing her mission and defeating Cernunnous, Artoria vanishes from the throne room, loses her name and is surrounded by a storm of malice. Inside the storm, it is revealed that back in the forest, the nameless fairy was given a new name by Artoria, either Artoria or Caster, and promised to cherish it. Her name is Hope, just as how Artoria believed in and showed kindness to her, Hope also believes in Artoria and protects her from the storm of malice, being one of the main reasons for her return as Artoria Avalon.[2]
