Connacht ☆ Medb |
Lord Cnoc na Riabh (ノクナレア様, Nokunarea-sama?) is a King Clan fairy acting as Head of the King Clan (王の氏族の長, Ō no shizoku no chō?) and Ruler of Edinburgh (エディンバラの統治者, Edinbara no tōchija?) in the British Lostbelt in Fate/Grand Order.
She is later summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru as a Foreigner-class Servant in a Summer Saint Graph during the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.
Profile[]
Background[]
Cnoc na Riabh was born in the year 1900 of the Queen's Calendar, a little over 100 years ago.[1] She is the next generation of Mab.[2] Fairies born with the same "purpose" look alike and have similar abilities, with each new fairy being born after the previous dies. And so Cnoc na Riabh resembles Mab.[3]
Cnoc na Riabh is the leader of the King Clan and Edinburgh in the northern reaches of the English Lostbelt.[2] The other clans anticipate that she will soon lead the fairies of the north to war against Morgan, just as the fairies of north and south warred 4,000 years prior.[4]
She and Artoria first met each other five years before Chaldea's arrival in Gloucester after she won its Princess Contest that Artoria failed to qualify for. Despite bad first impressions, Cnoc na Riabh became Artoria's first friend outside of Tintagel. For two or three days, they spent time getting to know each other.[2]
According to Oberon, Cnoc na Riabh and Medb are different versions of the same person, with Medb being "what happens when that woman lives for love."[5]
Appearance[]
She is nearly identical to Medb, including her voice, which initially causes Ritsuka Fujimaru mistake her for Medb.[6] Cnoc na Riabh is typically surrounded by visible, floating love hearts, which she claims are expressions of her uncontainable passion leaking out as magical energy.
Personality[]
The King Clan is the cause of all discord, division, and conflict in Britain. Cnoc na Riabh is a single peerless individual who looks down on all others, though welcomes anyone into the King Clan who wishes to join.[7] She absolutely despises humans, refusing to use any in her army and wanting a kingdom without them; Cnoc na Riabh is willing to make a few exceptions as she wanted the protagonist to be part of her army, needing a mage to fight against Morgan.[8] Despite their constantly bickering, she and Artoria are friends.[2]
During her talk with the protagonist, Cnoc attests her reasoning for hating humans is due to how fragile they were, referencing her predecessor Mab who felt devastated at her human lover's death from trying to keep up with her, considering it a "betrayal". Cnoc claiming that once she rules Britain, she would force all humans to live in the safety of her chocolate factories with full benefits.
Relationships[]
- Artoria Caster (Swimsuit)
- "Alright! That girl is here too. I've spoken to her as Yaraan-doo, but not yet as Cnoc. Shall we formally greet her with elegance and a big splash? Will you be right beside me, arm in arm, Master? Let's make a preemptive strike!"[9]
- Morgan
- "What?! Morgan's here too? And what's with that feigned demeanor? Found something better than the country, huh?! I won't allow her to get ahead of me! Let's go, Master! We'll pack it with chocolate, and have a reconnaissance tea party!"[9]
- Aesc
- "Aesc? I know her. She's in the memories of the previous queen, Mab. A mix of Artoria's savagery and Morgan's cold-heartedness, a member of the first demonic boar clan, right? Not that I should say, but aren't all the fairies of paradise somewhat problematic?"[9]
- Habetrot
- "That Habetrot isn't the fairy country's Habetroth. But their soul colors seem the same. Always bright and fleeting. Maybe I should ask her to design the dress for the next coronation ceremony?"[9]
- Cú Chulainn (Caster)
- "That Grimm fellow is quite meddlesome. He says he's a different class version of Cú Chulainn here? It's hard to imagine a Grimm who isn't malicious..."[9]
- Barghest (Lostbelt) / Melusine (Lostbelt) / Baobhan Sith (Lostbelt) / Britomart
- "Fairy knights are here too, huh? That's nice. My place only has warriors. To assign jobs to fairies, you'd definitely need magic."[9]
- Oberon
- "Be careful with Oberon... not that I need to tell you. I've known he's a trickster since the fairy country days. An endless void, endless contempt, endlessly good-hearted. To genuinely get angry at the pitiful lives of bugs, he's too kind, isn't he? Though he'd never admit it."[9]
- Gareth
- ""It's curious. Humans and fairies, despite their different natures, have the same face, the same smile. A knight with a lance and shield that belies her stature. I'm glad she seems happy."[9]
Role[]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Fae Round Table Domain: Avalon le Fae[]
Two days later, the convoy arrives at Camelot. Gawain notices Cnoc na Riabh’s army to the north. Ritsuka and Artoria use Da Vinci’s telescopes to see that Cnoc na Riabh’s army not only has fairies of the Fang and Wind Clans but also Picts and Giants. Ritsuka gets a look at Cnoc na Riabh to see that she looks exactly like Medb. Gawain explains Cnoc na Riabh was gathering her army 40 km from Morgan’s territory until 10 days ago. But once Sheffield fell, Cnoc na Riabh immediately headed south by 20 kilometers while barely remaining within her own territory. The carriage then takes the group to the royal palace. Gawain tells them that only Ritsuka and Artoria are allowed an audience with Morgan, while the others are to wait a hotel that serves the royal household. However, she permits Da Vinci to accompany Ritsuka and Artoria.
After Artoria rings the bell, the group heads for Edinburgh to negotiate with Cnoc na Riabh. There the group is escorted to the cathedral to meet with Cnoc na Riabh. Redra Rbit had arranged for it beforehand. Cnoc na Riabh informs the group that Morgan told her to kill Artoria when she returns from Orkney, or else the pact made with the previous generation, Mab, will be considered broken. Cnoc na Riabh and Artoria then agree to compete to see who will command the united army. They will do so through Valentine Mab Match, a chocolate-making contest. The presiding judge will be Devil Caren. She explains the contest will be decided tomorrow at noon. The allotted cooking time will be now until then. Both players are required to use the kitchen provided in the cathedral, and they may elect one other fairy to serve as an assistant. Artoria will be assigned the Star Kitchen, while Cnoc na Riabh will be assigned the Moon Kitchen. They may interact with each other while in the kitchen.
After Morgan's death Cnoc na Riabh is crowned the new Queen of Fairy Britain. She is poisoned by Aurora and passes away in Artoria Caster's arms.
Servant Summer Festival 2023[]
Abilities[]
Cnoc na Riabh has the power to distribute strength equally among her subjects. She has to be near them for it to work, so she is always at the center of her army.[8] If those she gifted turn against her, she dramatically weakens both physically and mentally, as Aurora exploits during her coronation.
She can expand the influence of her fairy territory and force it upon others.[10]
In addition to fairies, her army also includes the likes of Giants and Picts.[6][8]
Forms and Alternate Versions[]
Swimsuit[]
In her Summer Saint Graph, Cnoc na Riabh initially doesn't recognize Artoria Caster or even the name Cnoc na Riabh. She goes by the name Yaraan-doo (ヤラアーンドゥ, Yara'āndu?) instead.
Abilities[]
Class Skills[]
- Magic Resistance (B Rank):
- Melty Heart (A Rank): The heart-shaped magical energy flowing from her is utilized as a vitalizing agent which is forcibly granted to others. Just her presence somehow makes the whole party's motivation increase. It's a charisma of sweets.[11]
- Southern Star (EX Rank): Yaraan-doo is the name of the Southern Cross in Aboriginal myth. Cnoc na Riabh is not a lifeform arrived from outer space, but an incarnation of "the Southern Cross as seen from Earth". As such, she exists as a pseudo-Foreigner, because she receives the benefits mankind has derived from the Southern Cross (navigation techniques, culture). "Naturally, I didn't dispose of the Mystery of the King Clan. But using it can be troublesome, so best be on your guard ♡"[11]
Personal Skills[]
- Queen's Tomb (A Rank): A skill pretty similar to the Queen's Discipline Skill Queen Medb has. A perfect body and perfect face. Grants self debuff immunity, HP regen, NP per turn, and charges NP for allies with "My Fair Soldier" debuff.[11]
- Queen's Covenant (A Rank): Increases the party's Noble Phantasm damage (3 turns) + grants the "My Fair Soldier" debuff state. Those with this state will have their skills sealed, but their attack and defense greatly increased. Since it's a debuff, those with magic resistance can resist it.[11]
- VVV (A Rank): Violence, Violin, Voltage. The ultimate technique in musicality can occasionally be turned into a blunt weapon. The echo from the sound of the violin as it strikes the enemy is such a fearsome thing it spreads even to allies, disrupting their precision work. It's an offensive kind of music, not unlike Elizabeth's ultrasonic attacks.[11]
- Noble Phantasm
Cnoc na Riabh Yaraan-doo's Noble Phantasm is Queen's Melty Heart.
Development[]
Her name comes from KnocknareaWP (spelled "Cnoc na Riabh" in Irish), a hill in Ireland that legend says is the location of Medb's tomb. Her Foreigner name Yaraan-doo is an Aboriginal Australian name for the CruxWP constellation, also known as the Southern Cross.
Diarmuid Ua Duibhne was originally planned to be Cnoc na Riabh's second in command. She was also planned to be battled at some point, and her original design was just going to be Medb's Second Ascension with a new jacket.[12]
Creation and Conception[]
Cnoc na Riabh was designed by Kisai Takayama in Fate/Grand Order.
