Joy is a character of the show based on her appearance and named after her. One of her caricatures appeared in "Suite and Sour" as one of the spa workers at the Royal Woods Spa.

When Joy was younger, after school, children’s entertainment was always a priority for her to have, but she didn’t know specifically how. But once she interned at WGBH (the studio that produces “Arthur“ and “Curious George”) she saw all the opportunities that would await her and knew that the animation industry was the right industry for her.
Later on, her first job was a receptionist at Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
She has stated that if she could befriend one animated character, it would be Daisy Duck due to her sassiness.
