Randy Meeks is a major character in the 1996 slasher film Scream and its 1997 sequel Scream 2.
He was portrayed by Jamie Kennedy.

What Makes Him Close To Being Pure Good?[]
- He was always suspicious of Billy Loomis, even when he was presumably proved innocent, which was proven to be true as Billy was the main killer behind the 1996 Woodsboro murders orchestrated by Roman Bridger.
- After being informed of Principal Hembrey's death, he was genuinely shocked and didn't rush off to see his corpse on the school like the other students in the party do.
- He tried to get Sidney to trust him and not Stu after correctly suspecting he was one of the killers, and kept trying after being locked outside of the house.
- After Billy's "death", he warned Sidney and Gale about the "one last scare" trope, allowing Sidney to quickly shoot Billy in the head when he tried to stand up. This warning ended up being very prominent in the franchise and saving other survivors on many occasions, such as:
- Sidney shooting Nancy to make sure she's dead.
- Sidney and Gale shooting Mickey when he attempts to attack after being shot by Nancy.
- Dewey shooting Roman several times in the chest when he reveals he's not dead yet.
- Sidney shooting Jill in the head when she tries to kill her with a glass shard.
- Tara shooting Amber after she survived being burned.
- Sam making absolutely sure Richie is dead by stabbing and shooting him several times.
- Kirby pushing a TV into Ethan's head.
- Sam shooting Quinn in the head.
- Sam stabbing Wayne in the eye.
- When the Windsor College Murders began, he tried to find out who the new Ghostface was.
- He helped Dewey and Gale, and also took the call meant for Gale while she and Dewey looked for the caller, losing his life in the process.
- He suspected and successfully predicted the possibility of not only his death but also a third killing spree and thus leaving behind a tape for his friends to guide them on what to expect and how to survive.
- This would make him play a key role in the survival of Sidney, Dewey, and Gale and also gives him an indirect part in the defeat of Roman Bridger.
- Even though he is killed off pretty early in the franchise and doesn't even directly fight any Ghostface other than Nancy, his actions still had a permanent impact on the rest of the franchise due to establishing the rules of "how to survive a horror film" and warning Sidney and Gale about the "one last scare" trope, allowing for the survival of many characters and the defeat of many future Ghostfaces, while also influencing his niece Mindy, whose actions and knowledge of horror films allowed her own survival and also helped others survive other Ghostfaces.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can be a jerk sometimes and make some insensitive comments, such as mocking Stu about Casey Becker dumping him for Steve, jokingly asking Stu if he had put Casey's liver in her mailbox. While Stu actually turned out to be an awful person, he didn’t know that at the time.
Trivia[]
- Randy, Billy, and Stu have all been mentioned on every Scream film.
- Randy's death upset many fans and is considered one of the most impactful deaths of the franchise, along with Dewey's death in Scream (2022).
- In original plans for Scream 3, Randy would have been revealed to have survived and that his parents would be hiding him. This was later cut because it was too unrealistic.
- Stu Macher, who was one of the final suspects alongside Randy in the first film, was also planned to have been revealed as a survivor in the third film, but the idea was scrapped, though there are some ideas on how it could have turned out.
