Zebediah Killgrave, better known as the Purple Man, is the secondary antagonist of the Marvel comic book miniseries Dark Ages.
A supervillain famous for having antagonized Jessica Jones in the past, the Purple Man joined the forces of Apocalypse, and among many other villains, helped him harness the power of the now deactivated Unmaker.
His Evil Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]
- After the collapse of society caused by the Unmaker’s attempt to destroy Earth, the Purple Man was one of the many supervillains who joined Apocalypse’s side and helped him in his goals.
- The Purple Man was tasked by Apocalypse with brainwashing several intelligent people he kidnapped into doing his bidding. More specifically, the Purple Man used his powers to force those people into helping Apocalypse awaken the Unmaker and get all its power for him. It is stated that by gaining all that power, Apocalypse would destroy the entire world.
- When Quicksilver infiltrated Apocalypse’s base, the Purple Man brainwashed him, turned him evil and had him return to Wakanda to attack the heroes. Although Jean Grey managed to break Quicksilver out of his brainwashing, it wasn’t before he caused the deaths of Okoye and Johnny Storm.
- He brainwashed Cyclops and forced him to kill Wolverine with his laser eyes. This was done to get the adamantium Tony Stark needed to build a molecular deconstructor Apocalypse required.
- He brainwashed several superpowered people and forced them to fight and kill the heroes and prevent them from stopping Apocalypse’s plan.
- His death at the hands of Deadpool was well deserved considering his role in Apocalypse’s plan.
- Although he was working with Apocalypse, nothing confirms he was truly loyal to him.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]
- He suffers from Fridge Horror, as the narrative doesn't make it clear if the Purple Man knew the truth behind Apocalypse's plan. However, it was thanks to him that Apocalypse nearly succeeded in transfering his mind to the Unmaker, which would've caused the destruction of Earth, making this a minor prevention.
