“ Peace does nothing to test --to INCREASE-- mutant's strength. To force them to evolve into the strong. „
~ Apocalypse.
“ Swordbearers. Most of you are mutant. You have tasted the sweetness of immortality--an evolution of our people. Now, we step into the Otherworld, where all realities are one, and your defeat will mean the death of Krakoa, the death of this Earth and the death of you, as you are now, never to return. So when you draw your sword, you must not fight like a human, who stands to lose a few years of toil--but like a mutant, who stands to lose forever in paradise. For if you do not... you will not be the first immortals I have watched die. „
~ Apocalypse.
“ The time is almost upon us. My centuries of manipulating... of preparing... are reaching their resolution. With the dawning of the new day, the end times will be upon us... my ascension complete. And you, the twelve -- prophesied saviors of mutantkind... your power will bestow upon me the means to achieve my destiny. First, I will remake this pathetic orb in my image, and then the stars! „
~ Apocalypse.

En Sabah Nur, better known as Apocalypse, is one of the main antagonists of Marvel Comics, serving as one of the two main antagonists (alongside Magneto) of the X-Men franchise and media, and the main antagonist of the original X-Factor and Cable series.

His Evil Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Evil?[]

  • As a young man, he was rejected by the girl he loved because he was physically ugly. When it turned out his powers made him immortal, he went back to her as she was dying of old age and taunted her on her deathbed, which is incredibly sadistic.
  • He is immortal and has enslaved and destroyed countless civilizations he saw as too weak and justifies his actions by claiming he was improving the world with his actions.
  • Believing that the strong must dominate the weak, he tests humanity and mutants in extremely vile ways throughout his appearances.
  • He would awaken the mutant powers of a crusader, who would become the villain Exodus.
  • He transformed Nathaniel Essex into Mister Sinister, which means that he is responsible for most of his crimes and vile deeds as he turned him into an immortal.
  • One of his worst crimes is him attempting infanticide by infecting the infant Cable with Techno-Organic Virus.
  • He and Sinister agree to unleash a plague that would exterminate most of humanity, only to be stopped by Sinister later.
  • He empowers terrorist leader Moses Magnum in exchange for the latter winnowing out the strong from the weak.
  • He is indirectly responsible for turning Cable's clone, Stryfe, into the monster he is today, as he raised him from childhood by his future self.
  • He attempts to force humanity to reduce its own population by 90 percent or face the danger of another meta-plague.
  • He experiments on test subjects to find a new body.
  • He attempted to kill Franklin Richards, who is a child, to end the onslaught and get rid of a possible rival.
  • In the Krakoa era, his goals aligned with those of Krakoa, as Krakoa had found a way to bring mutantdom to the peak of civilization. They made Krakoa a nation that undoubtedly was one of the strongest in the world, and thus he had no need to push his agenda because his goal was always the supremacy of mutantdom, so that does not make him on & off.
  • In the end, there is no redemption for him, as he didn't even feel bad about his past actions. and he'd do it again. But while Krakoa was around, he had no reason to join, as his goals were essentially achieved. Especially since Apocalypse and his children were the original inhabitants of Okkara, and it was Apocalypse himself who split the island into Krakoa and Arakko.
  • At the end of Krakoa storyline, he feels betrayed that Krakoa civilization in White Hot Room want to live peacefully. He try to fight X-Men to regain control of Krakoa but eventually defeat and decide to go back to Mar to presude his own goals.

What Prevents Him from Being Pure Evil?[]

  • He has a genuine tragedy of being abandoned at birth due to his obvious mutations, adopted by a tribe of violent raiders who imparted their social Darwinist ideologies on him, saw his entire tribe killed and also saw his adoptive father die in front of him not long after as a result of Kang the Conqueror's attempts to find him. Later, he was enslaved, had a particularly bad encounter with Kang himself, and was rejected by the girl he had fallen in love with and risked his life to save her, causing him to become the vile villain he is today. However, this is a minor prevention as his horrific crimes nearly outweigh his tragedy and it's usually not played for sympathy very much.
  • He loved and respected his adopted father, Baal, for being the first person to show him kindness and mercy by rescuing him from the desert and raising him as his son. He loves his wife, Genesis.
  • He is honorable, as everything he's ever done is actually to prepare Earth for the invasion of Amenthi demons, as per his first wife's last wish. But still, it doesn’t justify his actions, as he could have found other ways to deal with the situation, and not to mention, he just wanted himself to be stronger so he could be with her.
