Playwright or Wrong and The Shows Must Go On are the eleventh episode of the second season of My Little Pony: Pony Life and the thirty-seventh episode overall.
In Playwright or Wrong, the Mane Six are eager to celebrate Ponyville Play Day by putting on a play.
In The Shows Must Go On, Rarity receives the opportunity of a lifetime and must choose between her friends or her breakout role.

Summary[]
Playwright or Wrong[]
At Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie serves her friends special milkshakes to commemmorate the annual Ponyville Play Day, which the Mane Six are hosting this year. To make the occasion particularly special for the Wild Siders, Rarity suggests putting on a stage play. Her friends agree with this idea, but they have conflicting ideas on what their play should be about, so they decide to pitch their ideas to the Wild Siders and let them choose.
At the Ponyville Theater, the Mane Six pitch their stage play ideas to the Wild Siders one-by-one. Applejack suggests a historical holiday-themed musical and dance, Rainbow Dash suggests a stage adaptation of her life story, Rarity suggests performing a classic stage drama, Pinkie suggests a slapstick comedy, Twilight Sparkle suggests an educational astronomy presentation, and Fluttershy suggests a play about the founding of Ponyville performed in mime.
The Mane Six's conflicting ideas result in a heated argument. The Wild Siders break up the Mane Six's arguing and say they like all of their ideas. With the Wild Siders' advice, the Mane Six decide to incorporate all of their ideas into a single play.
The Shows Must Go On[]
As the Mane Six set up for their stage play, Rarity reacts overdramatically to one of her stage props seemingly being damaged. This catches the attention of famed Applewood theater director Curtain Call. He casts Rarity in the new stage play he is putting on at the Crystal Globe theater across the street from the Ponyville Theater, and Rarity sees this as her gateway to theater stardom. When Sugar Snap points out that the Mane Six's play and Curtain Call's play are on the same night, Rarity decides to perform in both plays, believing her role in Curtain Call's play is small enough for her to manage.
Rarity races back and forth between rehearsals for the two plays, causing her much exhaustion. While practicing lines with Sugar Snap, Rarity gets a message from Curtain Call stating her role in his play has been expanded, requiring her to be on stage for the play's entire runtime. Unwilling to give up her chance to be a theater star, Rarity announces to her friends that she is relinquishing her role in the Mane Six's play to her understudy Sugar Snap.
On the day of the play, Rarity goes to the Crystal Globe and discovers that Curtain Call's play was cancelled at the last minute. She goes back to her friends and apologizes for leaving their play and putting her dreams of stardom first. She decides to let Sugar Snap keep her role in the play, but Sugar Snap suggests they split the role between them, and Rarity agrees.
